Pat sent me this to my phone, and I'm astonished how amazing these Bedfords are! Pat's a credit to the industry. How's he kept these in such amzing shape is beyond me.

Patrick (Pat) George Binns was born October 8, 1948, son of Stanley Ernest Binns and Phyllis Mae Evans of Weyburn, Saskatchewan.
In 1971, he received a Master of Arts degree in Community Development from the University of Alberta. After completing his college education, Binns worked as a development officer for the Government of Alberta. He moved to Prince Edward Island in 1972 and worked for the Rural Development Council of PEI. During his time with the public service from 1974-1978, he coordinated the establishment and administration of the regional services centres in eastern PEI. In 1978, he was a recipient of the Queen's Silver Jubilee Medal for Outstanding Public Service.
Binns, a Progressive Conservative, was elected to the Prince Edward Island Legislative Assembly in 1978. From 1979-84, he served in the provincial legislature and held several cabinet portfolios including industry, municipal affairs, fisheries, environment, labour, housing and had responsibilities for economic development. From 1984-88, Binns served as a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons representing the riding of Cardigan and was a member of standing committees on agriculture and fisheries. He also served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans.
From 1988-96, Binns worked in the private sector, as president of both Island Bean Limited and Pat Binns & Associates. With his wife and family, he operated a bean farm in Hopefield, PEI.
Binns was elected a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island for District 5, Murray River-Gaspereaux, in the general election of November 18, 1996. He was sworn in as Premier, President of the Executive Council and Minister Responsible for Intergovernmental Affairs on November 27, 1996. Binns was re-elected on April 17, 2000 and for a third term on September 29, 2003.
During the provincial election of May 28, 2007, Binns was elected as representative for District 4, Belfast - Murray River. However, the Liberal Party won 23 of the 27 seats in the House to become government. On August 30, 2007, Binns resigned as the PEI Progressive Conservative Party leader and Opposition leader, upon being named Ambassador of Canada to Ireland by the prime minister.
An active community volunteer, Binns was involved in the planning and construction of the Northumberland Arena, and is a founder and active organizer of the Northumberland Fisheries Festival.
Pat Binns and his wife Carol (nee MacMillan) have four children: Rob, Mark, Bradley and Lilly.
