This is Pat, one of the jaguars at the Milwaukee County zoo. He came from Belize. He couldn't be released back in to the wild but found a home and a mate (Stella) at the Milwaukee County zoo. You can read all about Pat's story, jaguars and their habitats in a book written by the children of Belize and Milwaukee: "Pat the Great Cat: A Jaguar's Journey" published by SHARP Literacy, Inc.

Pat is #16/100 in my 100 strangers project. We were both eating alone in the bar at the Kempinski Hotel in Falkenstein, near to Frankfurt. We struck up a conversation and spent the rest of the evening chatting. Pat was a really interesting person, ex Chief Procurement Officer of Delta Airlines he was now freelancing and was currently engaged as a strategic purchasing consultant with Accenture. He grew up in Surinam Central america and has dutch roots, infact his grandfather was a general in the Dutch army.

Technical bits. Bad lighting int he room so rather than use flash I ramped the ISO up to 3200, The colour noise was pretty bad so converted to mono and added a copper plate duotone effect in Lightroom. Rediced the noise reduction to zero and added some sharpening to enhance the noise further to give a grain effect.

Pat, nice to meet you. Hope yuo had a safe flight home to Atlanta.
