Macro Mondays: Leading Lines.

Castelnuovo Val di Cecina is a small village of the Metalliferous Hills, located on the furthest reaches of the Maremma open to the Tyrrhenian Sea and the island of Elba. The origins are uncertain, but certainly go back at the age Lombard (VII sec.), When this people drew up new avenues for research of mineral building a series of fortresses sighting and defense along the path that wound from Volterra Massa Marittima.

I still wave at the dots on the shore

And I still beat my head against the wall

I still rage and wage my little war

I'm a shade and easy to ignore

I wanted to thank all my flickr friends for their greetings, wishes, comments and invitations to my previous images. Slowly I will return to my rhythm here until the end of the holidays ...

A year is ending and a new year approaches.

I wish everyone a peaceful holiday season and a New Year full of creativity and satisfaction, health, love, work etc ....

Let's all think back on what brought us here

This is my grasp on what is real

Don't tell me how I feel

With all that's passed I can't relate

With myself from day to day

why does everything seem so far away

to me

There's no turning back from here

I've got to get away from everyone who's left

Everyone who's left

I'll tell the saddest story

Of how we made it through this past year

(Past year, past year...)

I'll tell the saddest story

Of how we made it through this past year

(Past year, past year...)

They said we'd walk away

You'll never make it if you can't speak for yourself

they said we'd fade away

We've all been down this path before

You're trapped in this town

And it wears you down

When we leave today then maybe you'll understand

This constant struggle isn't always in the palm of my hand

Sint Nicholaskerk is the most seen and at the same time overlooked church in Amsterdam as well as being one its most recent constructions, no one can miss this iconic structure upon arrival to the city walking from Centraal Station your eye is immediately drawn to it at 58 m in height it towers over the city skyline.

This Roman Catholic Church was designed by Architect Adrianus Bleijs and is a nod to the past combining elements of neo-Baroque and neo-Renaissance styles, completed in 1887 it was made a minor Basilica in 2012.

The church is dedicated to the 4th century charitable patron saint of children that became our Santa Claus as well as the patron saint of sailors and prostitutes, another winning combination.

In the Netherlands Santa Claus is known as Sinterklaas and a feast has been celebrated for over 700 years in his name and adopted in the early part of 20th century the tradition of leaving small gifts in children’s shoes was practiced on Dec 6th which has evolved now to become a Dec 5th evening tradition of gathering of family and friends to exchange gifts and laughter.

While Dutch Sinterklaas celebrations are mainly for the children its adult component is an annual grievance poem written to the recipient that must rhyme and be read out loud by the subject at the evening party all in good fun but beware you may get as good as you give.

I took this on Sept 10th, 2017 with my D750 and Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens at 58mm 15 sec f/16 ISO100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , Luminar and DXO

Disclaimer: My style is a study of romantic realism as well as a work in progress

Quaglietta (AV)

The history of Quaglietta begins when, to stop the Saracen incursions in the Sele Valley, it was decided to build 3 fortresses: Valva, Senerchia and Quaglietta, (which however at the time was called castrum Quallectae).

The first settlement was therefore a military fortress built on a rocky spur (284 m above sea level) to which a village was added over time.

The name has nothing to do with quails as many believe but with the ancient Latin name of the area or Acque electe which translates as pure water and refers to the richness and purity of the waters that flow in the area.

Although the town is closely linked to the municipalities of the Sele Valley belonging to the province of Salerno, it is part of the province of Avellino and is a fraction of the municipality of Calabritto.

The 1980 earthquake hit this town hard but it was renovated with great attention and today the ancient medieval village retains its ancient splendor and is a tourist attraction.

A period house in the Spitalfields area of London that's regularly used as a film set for historical dramas. I've shot this previously long ago but stumbled across it on this occasion without any cars to impede the POV - definitely worth a retake IMO.
