For the Missouri History Museum’s upcoming (2024) “Gateway to Pride Exhibit” of St. Louis LGBTQ+ history, Ms. Essay serves as the Co-Chair of the Collections & Exhibits Subcommittee. A portion of the materials and oral personal histories collected thus far for the exhibit are currently viewable on-line at the following link

In February of 2023, the Museum convened via Zoom a Steering Committee meeting of all the chairpersons of the exhibit’s sub-committees to further discuss the design for the upcoming in-museum exhibit as well as receive an update on the fundraising efforts to meet the estimated $1.8 million budget for the exhibit.

Nighthawk: "So, uh... What do we do with this little guy?"
He shakes his clenched hands jostling Ant-Boy around as I get up. Just then Nighthawk and I are flung back as Ant-Boy grows back to his normal size. As we lay there on the ground he goes to check on Cobblepot and Deadshot.
Bruce: (Activates distress call on his utility belt.) "They're alive, just unconscious."
Any-Boy: "They won't be unconscious for long. Then we'll get you."
Bruce: (Gets up.) "Why are you doing this?"
Ant-Boy: "Why am I what? Training? To get a better grip on my powers. Duh."
Bruce: (To Nighthawk, who's also getting up.) "He's like you."
Ant-Boy and Nighthawk: "Hey!"
Bruce: "I meant why do you take orders from them?"
Ant-Boy: "I have to. Even if I don't want to."
Nighthawk: "Please elaborate."
Any-Boy: "They'll kill me if I don't."
Bruce: "How? You've already proved effective in a fight. Almost untouchable."
Any-Boy: "No, when they gave me these powers, they also included a failsafe. If I try to resist or leave, they'll kill me."
Nighthawk: "Wait, how do they activate it?"
Ant-Boy: "Don't know. I assume there's some sort of trigger somewhere."
I start walking over to Cobblepot, when I'm stopped by Ant-Boy.
Bruce: "What're you doing? If we find the trigger, you could go. And then you could let us go."
Ant-Boy: (Hesitates.) "Fine. But if they wake up, I'm taking you out. Both of you."
As we rummage through Baron Von Cobblepot's pockets he starts moaning and moving.
Nighthawk: "We should really get out of here."
Bruce: "We can't. If we do, then Cobblepot will most likely kill him." (Nods to Ant-Boy.)
Nighthawk: "That's it! We leave, and when Cobblepot pulls out the trigger to kill him we nab it!"
Bruce: "It's risky, but I don't think we have any other choice."
I look to Ant-Boy, who looks very concerned. When we make eye-contact, he nods, and Nighthawk and I go and hide just behind doorway.
Cobblepot: (Translate from German) "Ugh, what happened?"
Any-Boy: "They escaped. I couldn't stop them."
Cobblepot: "What!? You failed? Now you pay the price. And to think we set up so much for a failure."
We peek through and see him pull out a small tablet. As he puts in the passcode, Nighthawk throws one of his glass shards right into Cobblepot's hand, causing him to drop the tablet and scream in pain. Ant-Boy manages to grab it, while I once again knock out Cobblepot. A little while later S.H.I.E.L.D. comes and arrests Deadshot, Cobblepot, and all of their goons. We get outr lead technology expert, Victor Rhodes, to find a way to disable the tablet. When he successfully disabled it, we let Ant-Boy go on his way, as long as he promised not to break any laws. But S.H.I.E.L.D. will keep an eye on him, just to be sure.

Later, at the same Sokovian castle, a dark figure walks around the rooms, looking for something. They then get a phone call, and pick it up.
???: (On the other line) "Sir, the plan has failed. If you want us to free Cobblepot, you need to tell us how and where he's being transferred. You do want him free, right? Sir? Sir?"
The dark figure hangs up, and pockets his phone.
Dark Figure: (Sighs.) "We should've never sent them here. Oh well. We'll just find another way. In the end, Hydra will rise."

Volume one is complete! I hope you enjoyed the ending, sorry if it felt a bit anti-climactic. I think I'll do about one month breaks between each volume, similar to what BrickTailor did with his Talon series (which is definitely recommend). I've started writing the next volume, but I also have ideas for other series, which I may end up doing. And if you have any critiques or anything I could do better, please let me know. Finally, the KRF launches Operation: Burning Sands, the siege and assault of Baikonur. It is week 2 of the assault, half the city is destroyed and under KRF control. Found this when riding my bicycle in Mill Creek Ravine.
Even though the S9+ is an older phone, the camera works well.
When riding, I now need to keep the phone in a plastic bag to prevent moisture from interfering with the fingerprint sensor - would hate to be forced to enter a passcode to access the thing.
