The trees here in the Chilterns Woodlands are changing colour rapidly now and shedding a good carpet pile depth of leaves to decorate the floor in this shot. I'll be back again when the frost kicks in to hopefully add some mist.

A fairly old capture reworked.
The wikipedia defintion says (among other things) that "a window is an opening in a wall, door, roof or vehicle that allows the passage of light [...]" and I think that the light passing through this boathouse window on Lake Starnberg/Bavaria/Germany fits the definition quite well.

Located about five miles north of Prescott, is a highly scenic area called the Granite Dells. These picturesque rock formations can be explored and photographed from many vantage points on and around Watson Lake. During my first trip here, I wanted to capture a version of this particular classic view from one of the boulders high above the lake. This image was created using eight separate vertical shots, processed in my favorite panorama program. Each shot was expose for about 76 seconds, in an attempt to convey the feeling of quiet and stillness.
For a ways, there was an animal trail broken out, tamped down and snowed over, but passable. I followed it, trying to spy the spot that looked right, paying attention to my footing along the bank as I went. And then a ways more, after it veered off to a ford, breaking new snow, I came to a mound high enough that caught the random ribbon of Soda Butte Creek, and the mountains beyond. I feared they would go dark under a squally sky. My luck held. When I daydream of the Lamar Valley, it comes to me as a trace on my topo map, with snapshots of things I’ve seen and hiked there flashing through my head like an old slideshow. But having made my ingress to here, it was I who now stood still as the motion of the greater transit of the whole valley struck me. The movement, of course, of the creek riffling over pebbles from shades of silver pools. In my periphery, the curious dark humps of bison far across the plain, a step and a head movement at a time, foraging for sustenance. Barely a breeze, unseen, soughing at a different frequency note than the creek, across the snow. Contrasted by the darker clouds higher up, racing across and through the peaks, the sun searching for purchase through gaps in their pillows. We exist in a great introduction, all manner of nature come through here in a chaos of directions, on course to one another as if by instinct. I am humbled, here only for the moment, granted passage nonetheless.

The rock formations, scrub brush, cactus, and gnarled pinion pine and juniper trees of the Southwest United States invoke the spirit of the pre-historic continent that we call North America moreso than nearly anywhere else.
There are vast expanses of scant population, and even in tourist areas like Sedona, the nature takes precedence. When I looked at this image in color, it was nice, but when I converted it to monochrome, it drew out that spirit for me.

A proximité de Tournai, le village de Willemeau (649 habitants) a été fréquemment touché par d’importantes inondations. Afin de résoudre ce problème, il était devenu urgent de construire deux ouvrages de rétention des eaux sur le Ruisseau de la Place de Taintignies (bassin versant de 503 hectares), affluent du Ruisseau de Barges.
Après une étude hydrologique approfondie, en lieu et place du traditionnel bassin d’orage en béton, le Service public de Wallonie et la Province de Hainaut ont opté pour la mise en oeuvre d’une solution innovante et écologique : la zone d’immersion temporaire [ZIT].
La ZIT est constituée d’une digue en terre placée sur le cours d’eau qui permet la retenue des eaux sur des terrains naturels ou semi-naturels lors de périodes caractérisées par une pluviométrie abondante.
Ces aménagements s’inscrivent dans une démarche de développement durable. Ainsi la gestion des terres d’excavation a été optimisée dans un souci de réduction de l’empreinte écologique/carbone du chantier. Au strict bénéfice du développement de la nature, le chantier s’est même offert une pause le temps de laisser nicher un oiseau protégé, l’avocette élégante !

La passerelle du Moulin de l'Epine.
À Bouillon, la passerelle du moulin de l’Épine s’élance désormais majestueusement au-dessus de la Semois. Longue de 55 mètres et utilisant la technique du pont suspendu, elle devrait être terminée aux environs de la mi-septembre.
Attendue depuis huit ans, cette passerelle va rendre certaines promenades plus accessibles et crée un lien entre les promenades de Botassart et Bouillon.
Du pont de Cordemoy, situé à l’arrière du château, jusqu’au pont de Poupehan, le suivant, il y a plus de 15 kilomètres en suivant les berges. Soit plus de 30km aller-retour. Avec la passerelle, on pourra faire une boucle de deux heures au départ de Bouillon tout en découvrant les rives.
