Pen-y-pass is a mountain pass in Snowdonia, Gwynedd, north-west Wales.
It is a popular location from which to walk up Snowdon, as three of the popular routes can be started here. Glyder Fawr, to the north, is also accessible from here.
Per sempre me ne andrò per questi lidi,
Tra la sabbia e la schiuma del mare.
L'alta marea cancellerà le mie impronte,
E il vento disperderà la schiuma.
Ma il mare e la spiaggia dureranno
In eterno

Sotto di noi il Lago Vallette, ora basta scendere per una decina di minuti per raggiungere gli altri meravigliosi laghi nei pressi del rifugio Barbustel.
The Hahnenmoss Pass (German: Hahnenmoospass) is a high mountain pass in Switzerland, connecting Lenk im Simmental to Adelboden in the Bernese Oberland. With an elevation of 1,950 metres above sea level, the Hahnenmoos Pass is the lowest pass between the upper Simmental (west) and the Engstligental (east). Although a road leads to the pass from Adelboden, the pass can not be traversed by car. In winter the pass is part of a ski area.

Lindis Pass doesn't offer too many places to pull over and take in the beauty of this area. Even though there is a higher altitude here, it is not considered an alpine pass due to the dry conditions of the area.
Being in the high country in any season is heaven. The views are breathtaking and one can see forever. The sun sets early during Alaskan winters. In the interior, the shortest day of winter is 3 hours and 45 minutes long. When the sun sets or rises, the colors are amazing.
Being up in elevation, the temperatures are generally warmer than in the valleys. Temperature ranges can vary 50 degrees or more. The only bad part about the high country is that when the wind blows, there is nowhere to get out of the wind.
This was photo was taken near Isabel Pass in the central part of Alaska.

I try not to post too many photos of sleepy cats but the truth is that cats sleep a lot, especially during hot summer days. So here is Sethi, recovering from his adventures of the night before and recharging the batteries for the next night. The "bed" he is lying on is the roof of Cleo's cat house on the porch. Cleo doesn't climb up there anymore and so the boys are free to use it.
The Hardknott pass motor road can be seen climbing steeply on the right of the picture. It shares its title of the steepest road in England with the Rosedale chimney bank in North Yorkshire. The series of hairpin bends make for a challenging drive.
The drama and majesty of Glencoe only increases in bad weather. I've traveled along it numerous times on my way to the north west coast visiting family and seen it with many hats on! This was my first overnight stopover to capture the start of the day but there will be more.
