Le temple hindou Shiva-Parvati est situé dans le quadrilatère extérieur de la place Durbar à Katmandou.
Il a été construit au XVIe siècle par Bahadur Shah , fils du premier roi du Népal, Prithvi Narayan Shah. Le temple a survécu au tremblement de terre d'avril 2015 au Népal.
Il est dédié au Seigneur Shiva et à son épouse, la déesse de la montagne des neiges Parvati. Ce temple est un bâtiment en bois de deux étages avec deux énormes lions de pierre à l'entrée. Les cinq portes en bois sur la façade et les sculptures en bois sur les treillis des fenêtres sont très exquises.
En levant les yeux, vous verrez les statues de Shiva et Parvati, regardant depuis les fenêtres de l'étage supérieur.
La statue du couple est devenue l'un des sites emblématiques de Durbar Square.

Maha Shivratri is a Hindu festival celebrated annually in reverence of the god Shiva.
It is the day Lord Shiva was married to the goddess Parvati. The Maha Shivratri festival, also popularly known as 'Shivratri' or 'Great Night of Shiva', marks the convergence of Shiva and Shakti.
The festival is principally celebrated by offerings of Bael (bilwam or vilvam) leaves to Shiva, all-day fasting and an all-night-vigil (jagaran). All through the day, devotees chant
"Om Namah Shivaya", the sacred mantra of Shiva. Penances are performed in order to gain boons in the practice of Yoga and meditation, in order to reach life's highest good steadily and swiftly.
In Nepal, millions of Hindus attend Shivaratri together from different part of the world at the famous Pashupatinath Temple. Thousands of devotees also attend Mahasivaratri at the famous

This panel of stucco sculptures depicting the wedding of Shiva with Parvati was shot at Thiruvadhigai Veerattanam near Panruti, Tamilnadu. It's a 7th century temple built by the Pallava emperor Mahendravarman !!!

This painting is 113 x 60.5 cm on linen, of a young girl from the Rabari tribe in India. I find the colours and the customs of these rich cultures fascinating, both aesthetically and semantically.
Alice did this outfit with some of her purses... but she couldn't find only 1 to match with the outfit....

Madurai est la seconde ville la plus importante et la capitale culturelle de l'État du Tamil Nadu, situé sur les rives du fleuve Vaigai en Inde du Sud. Elle est connue entre autres pour le temple de Mînâkshî, un temple hindou de style dravidien (1623-1655 dans sa forme actuelle), est consacré à Mînâkshî, un avatar de la déesse hindoue Pârvatî, l'épouse de Shiva, ainsi qu'à Shiva lui-même.
Le temple est composé de multiples enceintes que l’on franchi par des tours-portails appelées gopuras (ou gopurams) décorés d'un foisonnement de statues. Le temple compte onze gopurams d'une hauteur de 45 à 50 m. Les gopurams présentent une structure pyramidale avec de nombreux étages, recouverts de milliers de statues en stuc représentant des animaux, des dieux et des démons peints de couleurs vives tous les quinze ans environ.

Madurai is the second largest city and cultural capital of the state of Tamil Nadu, located on the banks of the Vaigai River in South India. It is known among others for the temple of Mînâkshî, an dravidian style hindu temple (1623-1655 in its current form), dedicated to Mînâkshî, an avatar of the Hindu goddess Pârvatî, the wife of Shiva, and Shiva himself.
The temple is composed of multiple enclosures that are crossed by gate-towers called gopuras (or gopurams) decorated with a profusion of statues. The temple has eleven gopurams with a height of 45 to 50 m. The gopurams have a pyramidal structure with many floors, covered with thousands of stucco statues depicting animals, gods and demons painted brightly every fifteen years approximately.
During Kshirasāgara manthana (क्षीरसागरमन्थन) a number of things were released from the Ocean of Milk. One of them was the lethal poison known as Halahala (Kalakuta ) The Lord consumed the poison and held it in His throat which turns Blue . .Hence the name Nilakanta. All were worried and then the Lord danced to Glory,Parvati and Skanda watching and Nandhi playing the drums .

Goddess Parvati is believed to be one of the nine representations of Shakti - the ultimate divine power. She is the consort of Lord Shiva the destroyer and rejuvenator amongst the Trinity of Hindu gods. Goddess Parvati is believed to be the reincarnation of Sati. She was born to King Himavan, the lord of the mountains and hence is sometimes referred to as Girijaputri (daughter of the king of mountains). After severe penance and trials Goddess Parvati was reunited with Lord Shiva as his wife.
