NYC DOT and partners are proud to present Summer Streets. They temporarily closed Park Avenue and connecting streets from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park to motor vehicles and open it up to people on three consecutive Saturdays in August (August 9, 16, & 23) from 7am - 1pm.

It gave people an opportunity to ride their bikes on city streets. There were several free bike rental sponsors. I got my bike from Bike and Roll.
