Part of my Costa Rica Adventure was a day spent at Frog Heaven. This Coronated Tree Frog is one of the many wonderful frog species that was brought out for us to photograph. This is one of the more rare species of rainforest frogs. One of the things I ask myself when I am deciding which image to present is "what is the story here?" For this species it's those awesome horns or "it's crown", which denotes it's name. Hopefully I did good by his Royal Highness.

Part 3 of 3 of my Ancient Egypt series.
The title is known to be given during the Old Kingdom of Egypt, and was at that point very powerful and prestigious. The mummies of the priestesses testify that they were decorated with a religious tattoo, covering the stomach around the area of the uterus. After the Middle Kingdom of Egypt, the title was often irregularly awarded the women of the royal family, typically princesses.
The rise, fall & extinction of the priestesses of Hathor are seen in ancient Egyptian culture. The women who wanted to become socially powerful usually took refuge in religion & took the charge of priesthood.
Ancient Egyptian society took women's empowerment much more loosely than ancient Greece & ancient Rome. There women were given the right to their own property. However, after becoming a priestess, a woman is seen not only as an important figure in ancient Egyptian society, but also a living symbol of divinity.
The priestesses of Hathor were called hm ntr hthr & they were one of the most respected people in Egypt. But After the Middle Kingdom of Egypt, the title was often irregularly awarded only to the women of the royal family, typically princesses. This includes the daughter of Ramesses II. At one time their names were completely erased from history.
Egyptologysts have shown that in early days only women of aristocratic lineage could be appointed to the priesthood of Hathor. They were called Badak-Purohit or God's Consort (Hmt nTr). They performed dances and songs during the sacred rites. Because of their menstruation and ability to give child-birth, they were considered unholy, which is why they could not perform sacred duties like dressing up the sacred image of deity.

Annnnd part two of "After Midnight". I wanted to stick to the one Kuji one Noah format, so i had to do a second picture even tho the one before was not so well received. Very strong water flow. Taken about 12 hours after a major rain system passed through.

I shot these falls from below last year. One. Two. This time, I waded across the creek (and I really do mean wadded, the water was pretty high.) I wasn't able to do that with my old gear because it would have been to risky, but now I have a backpack for hiking that keeps my gear safe.
After many many many grey, rainy weekends, on Sunday we got our first sunny weekend day in months. High on my list was the "Ersatzverkehr" between Hanau and Giessen in Hessen. Due to a shortage of EMUs, DB has hired replacement trains from CentralBahn AG to fill in. The actual rolling stock is leased from DB Gebrauchtzug, the recently created division which offers older locomotives and wagons for sale or lease. A number of locomotives have received retro schemes worn by locomotives of the class in the past or in a few cases semi-fictional schemes. So the stock has been mainly leased to other branches of DB, another creative accounting tricks probably. Anyways.....
After an early 4:40 AM wake up call I headed out by train towards the Main-Wetzlar Bahn. At Frieberg I boarded the replacement train behind the retro 111-174 and got down at Kirch-Göns. After about a 40 minute wait the set returned south in the perfect morning sun light. A great start to what would be a productive day.

To all a very good Sunday.
This is the second picture of the shooting with the insects. Don't miss to take a look at the picture in high resolution, great details. (C)

Part of my project ›Borderland, Borderless‹ - an inquiry along the former inner-German border.
Even more than 30 years after the reunification of Germany, there is this borderless borderland. All objects photographed form a topography of this particular society.
A book about this project will be published at the end of 2021, this picture however is not in the book.
Part of our last crop of marigolds. They were the most brilliant orange and were so big and tall. They stood way taller then the flower box they were planted in.
For Floral Friday!
Lips they part, lips they spread
Lips with beauty , they are fed
Lips above the water kiss
Lips they feel natures bliss
Lips they taste, soft and sweet
Oh i wish i could meet
Your tender lips, that do wait
They are gift of love from fate
