My variation on a Helena Verril model, inspired by a model by Samukami, folded from a hexagon cut off from a 40 something cm on the side square of colored copy paper.
I thought a greeting card with a masculine theme would be nice for a change. I love the lighthouses across the country and found this image that I reproduced and cut to form this paper tole card. I hope that you like it
I rotated the square that becomes the bottom of the box and suddenly all the leftover paper was gone.
Maybe it is the same model as the one created by Mélisande* that can be seen here. I am satisfied with my model, it has creaseless sides.

The "Paper train" is a daily service that connects Lucca and Chiasso running along the Tirrenic coast line.

My attempt to reverse engineer this model from Dasa, which I basically did from the reverse side photo.
My external layer is different, I guess I took the wrong reference for it.
Folded from a square (turned octagon) of Arjo Wiggins paper of 30 cm on the side.

I got the idea for this on the day Lain sent us hunting for our oldest stuff. Discovered all sorts of papers I'd bought and never used. Most of them I remember needing desperately, then not having any idea how to use them effectively. Every time I try to purge I get all nostalgic and tell myself that surely there is a way to use that special paper. Pretty sure it's a sickness.
An abandoned factory at 500 Seneca St., Buffalo NY. Constructed as a series of buildings between 1901 and 1927, the brick and concrete facility was originally used as the headquarters and factory of F.N. Burt Co., a paper box maker. It was later used as a manufacturing plant for the hat maker New Era Cap from 1986 until 2004. It’s been vacant since.
Paper flowers are a beautiful creation
May float may sink may dance with the wind
But always radiate light
The light will draw you forward
Many years ago I cut this design from paper for my husband's grandmother. She emigrated from Czechoslovakia before WWI, and it looked to me like the folk art from that general area. Over the years the colors of some of the paper have faded, but it's glued together so that I'd have to start over to fix it!
For the All New Scavenger Hunt challenge, four things made of paper.
Idea leuconoe – also called the Tree Nymph, Paper Kite, and Rice Paper butterfly. Taken at Bangkok Butterfly Garden
These belonged to my great-grandfather, Wakio Shibayama. He was reportedly an art professor. This is painted by brush on extremely thin and fragile rice paper. I have hundreds of these and I believe these are compilations of artwork from his students. They are painted on both sides of the paper, likely due to the extreme paper shortage of that time. The booklets are stamped with my great-grandfather's "hanko", or name stamp.
Not quite christmas but we're getting a head start on the festivities and taking advantage of the school closure. Paper chains, christmas cards and shortbread all round
A competition I am running on my facebook page:
PAPER BUILD COMPETITION!!!!
Its my birthday so to mark the occasion I am launching a new competition :)
Post a picture of your favourite building on www.facebook.com/Popupology (side and front viewpoints required) labelled "paper build" and at the end of every two weeks I will select one to be made into an OA building. If your picture is chosen I will post a finished card to you as a prize!!!
A model I learned during the recent Origami Colombia 2012 convention, folded from 6 rectangles of A proportion cut off from 15 x 15 cm squares of Curious brand paper.
I saw this simple but beautiful folding in [http://www.flickr.com/photos/umacartinha] 's photo stream. There's a tutorial made by the origami artist, Raymond, at youtube.com/watch?v=ADF5-_q3Yyk
Soms is het zo simpel. Je haalt een doos met papier uit de kast ziet nog wat andere rommeltjes liggen in een bakje. En is weer één.
Folded from a square of Stardream of 70 cm on the side, that's 3.675 cm2 more paper than what I used for the 3 level one, but that's not uncommon for these fractal models.
This model had been done by Chris Palmer and is shown in the cover of his book "Shadow Folds" and was folded excellently by Origamigo in tessellation arrangements.

Trying to take a photo of something so complex as a wasp nest can often lead to the whole "losing the forest to see the trees" situation. You get so wrapped up in shooting a detail shot that the rest of the image fails to compose.
I don't think I crossed that line too much here, but I do find it odd that I somehow got such a black background when shooting in sunlight.
