Homemade Panini

Rasmus demanded another one of these panini sandwiches today for lunch. And of course I obliged :) Pastrami, Tillamook Cheddar, Stonewall Kitchen Bourbon Molasses Mustard on artisan Sourdough Bread.

Here are my next two puzzle projects. These are also the first puzzles I will be attempting larger than 2000 pieces, so we'll see how it goes. A friend of mine was working on a Ravensburger 5000 piece puzzle recently (Beneath the Sea / Underwater Tranquility), and I sat down and helped for a few minutes, and that was enough to get me hooked.

I initially was going to purchase only the Ravensburger 'Views of Modern Rome', but there was no additional shipping charges so I was happy to add the Trefl 'Ancient Rome' to complete the pair. I really love the paintings of Panini - I believe that Pomegranate made a 1000 piece puzzle of the Interior of St. Peter's, Rome, and I would love to put together that one, as well.

I think I'll be starting with the Trefl.

Jeff's parents gave him a Panini maker for Hanukkah. I never want to eat a cold sandwich again.

My very first attempt with the panini press my mother gave me. It was delicious! (Spinach feta bread from Great Harvest Bread Company definitely helps.) But i found out I did not have a bread knife - thus the bad cutting of the bread. Every time I start cooking I seem to find something else I need now! (And Doritos are served as a side dish in all of the fine restaurants in the South, I assure you.) ;)
