Es mi pequeño homenaje a este gran artista y pintor.
I created a dessert - bread pudding with a tulip on top - and called it Pane e Tulipani Pudding. It has a certain ring to it... to the name, that is. (Truly, I didn't!)
Butchart Gardens, Vancouver Island, BC
A truly brilliant blue late-winter sky near Traverse City, Michigan--made all the more colorful in contrast to this sun-drenched building on the beach. It was one of those suddenly miraculous days amidst many many grey ones.
Shot with the Olympus XZ-1. The broken window pane makes it all work, at least for me. It's otherwise a rather mundane shot.
Royal Garrison Church was built c1212 by the Bishop of Winchester as part of a hospital and hostel for pilgrims
In a firebomb raid on Portsmouth in 1941, the nave was badly damaged but the chancel is still roofed and furnished.
Window Wednesdays
As you can see, the sun came out eventually for our trip to Portsmouth 🌞😎.
Lest you miss it (I did when shooting) something seems to be lurking in front of the 3rd pane from the right on the bottom row.*
Interesting how broken panes were replaced over the years with whatever glass was at hand. Somehow the panes that are still broken add to the beauty and mystery..
*Upon closer inspection, it is not a creature, but a wooden handled black brush, turned bristles up.
In my set: Dan's Windows (Dan Daniels)
This view is based on one I took a few days ago (see "Panes..." - the camera is turned a 1/4 to the left. Composition gives way to flow...
Glass is the barrier to my flight
A window allows in the light
I can see for miles into the sky
Freedom to fly is a crystal lie
Shatter the panes
Truth is now my reins
Flight is now allowed
A path set beyond the cloud.
Bread and Oil
In my childhood the "Pane e Oliol" was the official afternoon snack.
The Bread, for us, was all. It was said, "When you have the bread, you have dinner!"
Because bread is the symbol of the simple, of the essential ingredient, enough .....
And it has remained the phrase as an example of a simple thing, just like the "Pane e Olio"
This image reminded me of those summer afternoons, in which the bread and oil had eaten out ...... and it was tastier!! : )))
