SSC 27/02/21: pick a palindrome and illustrate it with a photo.
The palindrome “A man, a plan, a canal ... Panama!” was first published by British mathematician Leigh Mercer in 1948, though it might have been around earlier. I couldn’t get over to Panama to take a photo of the canal because of lockdown (Oh yes? Like you would have gone otherwise?) so instead I decided to illustrate the palindrome by a montage ...
The man: George Washington Goethals, the engineer during the major phase of construction
The plan: A 1888 German map of the projected route across the isthmus
The canal: A 2004 view of the Miraflores Locks at the Pacific end

>> The idea of a canal to link the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans dates back to 1513, when Spanish explorer Balboa first crossed the isthmus and saw the Pacific. After that, several schemes for a canal were put forward over the next three centuries, but it wasn’t until the late 19th century that advances in civil engineering and technology made construction appear to be possible at last.
First to try was Ferdinand de Lesseps in 1881, who had successfully built the Suez Canal. But Panama was a very different proposition from Suez; the engineering difficulties were woefully under-estimated, the project was plagued by cost overruns and political corruption, and the workforce was decimated by tropical diseases. De Lesseps’ French company went bankrupt in 1889 and the attempt had to be abandoned.
The USA stepped in as the 20th century dawned, though the project still had engineering and political problems. However because it was now going to be a locked rather than a sea level canal it was more feasible, and better health care kept the workforce losses down. Success was in sight, a ship passed through in January 1914, and the canal was official opened on 1st April 1914. <<

I'd like to congratulate the mechanic who told me the clutch would start slipping around 40.000, I'm still waiting . And the one who said the motherboard had to be replaced as half the lights on the radio had fused, still looking for that motherboard, perhaps I've lost it :)))

Sometimes, everything seems to be so clean and anything has been communicated.

"Trace là mon nom à l'écart" : read in a right way or with back, we can read the same sentence.
(This kind of sentences is called "Palindrome".)

There is difference between what we think we communicate and what we communicate for real. That is what I wanted to represent... But I'm not sure that the idea has been represented as well as I wanted...

Aoxomoxoa is the third Grateful Dead studio album.[4] One of the first rock albums to be recorded using 16-track technology, fans and critics alike consider this era to be the band's experimental apex. The title is a meaningless palindrome, usually pronounced "ox-oh-mox-oh-ah".
Rolling Stone, upon reviewing the album, mentioned that "no other music sustains a lifestyle so delicate and loving and lifelike".[5] The album was certified gold by the RIAA on May 13, 1997.[6] In 1991 Rolling Stone selected Aoxomoxoa as having the eighth best album cover of all time.
Grateful Dead
American Rock Band
The Grateful Dead was an American rock band formed in 1965 in Palo Alto, California. Ranging from quintet to septet, the band is known for its unique and eclectic style, which fused elements of rock, psychedelia, experimental music, modal jazz, country, folk, bluegrass, blues, reggae, and space rock, for live performances of lengthy instrumental jams, and for their devoted fan base, known as "Deadheads". "Their music," writes Lenny Kaye, "touches on ground that most other groups don't even know exists." These various influences were distilled into a diverse and psychedelic whole that made the Grateful Dead "the pioneering Godfathers of the jam band world". The band was ranked 57th by Rolling Stone magazine in its The Greatest Artists of All Time issue. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and a recording of their May 8, 1977 performance at Cornell University's Barton Hall was added to the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress in 2012. The Grateful Dead have sold more than 35 million albums worldwide.

So I went lingerie shopping on Saturday and bought these. The bra is by Palindrome and the shapewear is by Nancy Ganz. I love the polka dot lace on the bra. The briefs are called Sheer Decadence (and gosh they feel so decadent, lol). They're super snug and have a little gemstone embedded near the tummy area (I think you can sort of see it in the picture)

I haven't found matching briefs for this bra, but I think these sort of work...kind of. They're really comfortable anyway, lol.

Two hearty souls out for a paddle on a bit of a windy day, it would be a rock 'n roll ride. The paddler in red is on the downside of a rolling wave. Not recommended conditions for novice kayaker's. One thing I like about the word kayak is it's a 'palindrome' A palindrome is a word, phrase, number or sequence of words that reads the same backwards as forwards. Punctuation and spaces between the words or lettering is allowed.
9449 is a nice palindrome. This photo from my Flickr profile shows that I have 9449 photos, including this one, so it is self-referential. Soon the number of photos will change, but this photo will always be #9449.
