Horseshoe Bend, Page, Arizona, USA
This is the downstream side of Horseshoe Bend located outside of Page, Arizona. Although the entire bend is not seen in this view, it is perhaps my favorite photo from our adventure to the site. This is a bit of street photography. I don't know the gentleman, but as I was taking photos of the entire Bend, I spotted this opportunity. I like his placement in the photo, how we don't see his face and his hat. I also like the texture of the foreground formation on which he is sitting. At first, I was not sure that I liked the boats, but decided that while they are an unnatural element, they do provide some size perspective. The photo was taken a short time after a storm. The clouds did provide some soft light and also some haze in the distance.

I ask you, how hot can it get?

Slowly, you say, I'm not there yet...

One lesson I have not learned, and really I should learn, is to not compare myself to other people. And most commonly for myself, it is comparing myself intellectually or creatively - "I could never do something as clever as that" "I would never be as creative as that". But I do often compare myself to other people in other ways as well - what I look like, speak like, act like, dress like. And I have had people I know laugh when I say that because they think I am somehow "above" that - I am more focused on my books and photos and brains, I do not worry about those other things. But I do. And I think, perhaps, that everyone does. Everyone has these insecurities. Whether they are creative, or physical or whatever, I do not think there is anybody who can, with 100% certainty, say that they have no insecurities.
I do not know. That is only a theory. It is just something I have been thinking about today.
My honey bought a new, older model point and shoot camera (I’ve been hinting😁) I’ve been wanting something to carry around on hikes etc. without carrying my bag of lenses. But more then my iPhone …
i❤️ it so far!! This was edited in iPhone 12
This is a cropped, infrared photo of a printing of photorealist Robert Bechtle's painting, Berkeley Stucco, which Bechtle painted in 1977. In creating his painting, Bechtle worked from a photograph. The image in the book was made from a photograph of the painting. In printing the book, left and right in Bechtle's painting were reversed.
I always have to visit the Slot Canyons in Page whenever I visit Arizona. October is not a good month to try and capture the famous light rays but it is not nearly as crowded as other times. You must be on a tour. I always opt for a photo tour so I can take my tripod in. There was only one other person on the tour with me so it was not as crazy as it can be. This place can be a real zoo with people everywhere and guides yelling at people to get out of the way. It is still an amazing place and well worth a visit if you are in the area. The upper Canyons are much more accessible than the Lower Slot Canyons. The first time I visited this area I went to the lower Canyons and they are amazing. You enter the lower slot canyons via an opening in the ground...you basically slide in and then the only way out is up a very tall ladder at the end. For the upper Slot Canyons you just walk in and walk out.

Just a fun picture...a customer purchased this lab coat from PistachioLibby on etsy and asked me to embroider the name on it.

Easy to say William Eggleston is one of my favorite photographers. Saw this little tricycle at a classic car dealership and, with the golden summer light coming in, had to grab it.
Jess bought a blanket while we were on the trip and ended up using it to say warm while I took photos.
It was freezing in the mornings when we went out and it didn't get warm until ~10am. These photos were taken right at 8am.
A quick share from my southeast trip during the spring break. This location I had been looked for in the last several years, and glad to locate it.
I went to see Horseshoe Bend in Arizona for the first time. I was not prepared for the scale of the place. If you look *really* close, you can see 2 small boats. This place was so huge.

I was packing the car for a camping trip when I noticed this Blow Fly clinging to a daisy in the flower strip between my house and driveway. Had to take a few minutes and set up a shot. It was a cool morning and my subject was very still, and luckily no breeze to sway the flower stem. I added a 1.7x teleconverter to the macro lens for a little extra working distance.
