Morning blue hour Jasper park Alberta

Early blue hour view along Pyramid Lake in Jasper National Park.

FlickrFriday this week is pyramid! This one is part of the architecture at Bluewater shopping centre in Kent. As it was a boring rainy day with grey nondescript sky, I decided to add some effects to cheer it all up.

Thanks for viewing 😀

The Egyptian pyramids are ancient masonry structures located in Egypt. Most were built as tombs for the country's pharaohs and their consorts during the Old and Middle Kingdom periods.

The most famous Egyptian pyramids are those found at Giza, on the outskirts of Cairo. Several of the Giza pyramids are counted among the largest structures ever built. The Pyramid of Khufu is the largest Egyptian pyramid. It is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still in existence.*

This image shows the iconic Transamerica Pyramid captured during the evening blue hour/twilight. If I am not mistaken, it is the tallest building in San Francisco. You can see the golden gate bridge at the far left in the distant horizon.

Enjoy!

Pyramid Lake mirrors the beauty of Pyramid Mountain near Jasper, Alberta in Canada

Pyramid Lake was formed by the tears of Stone Mother, who had herself a tsunami-like cry after her husband "The Man" banished two of her children from the tribe for being class act brats. Her multi-day cry not only created the lake but eventually turned her to stone, thus her name "Stone Mother." Apparently, she's still sitting somewhere along the shore with her basket by her side. I saw none of that, but given my current state of mind, I think it's all quite plausible.

Thanks for taking a look!

Sitting on a small rise a mile north of Arklow, overlooking the river Avoca, is a monument described by Sir John Betjeman (1906-84) as the largest pyramid tomb 'beyond the banks of the Nile' (fig. 1). It stands on the highest position in the ancient cemetery of Kilbride, dwarfing the ruins of the adjacent medieval church, and is easily seen from most points within a two-mile radius.

Late in the day there at Pyramid Lake in Jasper.

This image was shot just off I-5 north of Los Angeles on the way home from visiting my aunt. This was taken at the Vista Del Lago site looking west toward Pyramid Lake and the coastal range of Los Padres National Forest. It was a pretty clear day, so I stopped and made this image.

The pyramid - The iconic and unmistakeable pyramid profile of Stob Dearg commonly known as Buachaille Etive Mòr (the herdsman of Etive) reflected in the River Coupall. An incredibly dramatic and beautiful landscape, typifying the very best of what the Highlands has to offer; this distinctive mountain is irresistible in its charm in so many different ways.
