This is a part of the procedure of a water purification system. It is a step in the process to make the water feel softer, ie to get rid of most of the iron and lime etc...

Though looking rather old, this water level regulator is still in use. It is part of the water purification system established around 1882 in order to produce drinking water for Basel, Switzerland.

On my window sill this morning I found this quite wonderful, delicate Southern Oak Bush-cricket; her green adorned with that pretty red. She reminded me of 'la Fée Verte', the Green Fairy, a name by which the liquor absinthe once went - light in the uptake, quite harsh though in the aftermath. Absinthe, of course, has often been associated with Bohemian culture of the likes of Oscar Wilde, Hemingway and many others. For a long time the drink was banned. Earlier, absinthe down through the ages was used as a drug of purification. The fresh green of our cricket brings purity to my mind.
This Bush-cricket is relatively new to The Netherlands. It hails from the Adriatic and Mediterranean but has been found here since 1992 perhaps due to global warming and mass international travel. However that may be, she delighted Olymp and me.
Tirta Empul temple is a Hindu Balinese water temple located near the town of Tampaksiring, Bali, Indonesia. The temple compound consists of a petirtaan or bathing structure, famous for its holy spring water, where Balinese Hindus go to for ritual purification. It is said in the Bible: "Holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord" (Hebrews 12:14). Almighty God says: "You have missed a step in your belief in God: You have merely been redeemed, but have not been changed. For you to be after God’s heart, God must personally do the work of changing and cleansing you; if you are only redeemed, you will be incapable of attaining sanctity. In this way you will be unqualified to share in the good blessings of God" (The Word Appears in the Flesh).

Dandelion Clocks in the Blue Hour at Blidworth's Church of St Mary's of the Purification. The Church tower is 15th Century, with the rest of the church dating to 1739. It is notable for it's medieval folly, Will Scarlett's Grave, and its preserved Rockings Ceremony. Nottinghamshire, UK.

The R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant stands as one of Toronto’s most remarkable examples of Beaux-Arts civic architecture, completed in 1941. Designed by architect Thomas C. Pomphrey, the complex blends Beaux-Arts symmetry and monumental scale with Art Deco detailing. Nicknamed the “Palace of Purification,” it remains both a functioning waterworks facility and a beloved heritage site overlooking Lake Ontario.

Varanasi (Inde) - En cette fin septembre 2023, le niveau du Gange est très haut. Les pluies tropicales sont les principales responsables. Pour les croyants, pas de problèmes. Un niveau très haut ou très bas, une eau chargée de limon et de bactéries, n’empêchent pas les hindous de faire leurs ablutions quotidiennes. Shiva veille.

Varanasi (India) - At the end of September 2023, the level of the Ganges is very high. Tropical rains are the main culprits. For believers, no problems. A very high or very low level, water loaded with silt and bacteria, do not prevent Hindus from performing their daily ablutions. Shiva keeps watch.
