Teresa is the only Ebola survivor of her village King Robert Farm, a suburb of Monrovia, Liberia. She contracted Ebola on 7 October and was sent to an ETU and got discharged on 20 October after her recovery. She is married and has 5 children. Her husband lost his job after the company he was working for found out she had Ebola.

The Ebola outbreak in West Africa has produced increasing circles of victims beyond the infected and the dead. Survivors, families, children, and health workers are dealing with the stress and trauma left behind by the disease. Psychological and social support is an approach that helps victims of Ebola to cope with stress and fosters resilience in communities and individuals affected. A team of 4 social workers and a supervisor from the Action Contre la Faim (ACF) visit twice a week residents in some areas on Montserado including here in King Robert Farm to meet the only survivor in this village and affected families. The UN Mission for Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER) has provided ACF 9 cars to help it with logistics in reaching communities for contact tracing work and social work.

Boredom is an emotional or psychological state experienced when an individual is left without anything in particular to do, is not interested in his or her surroundings, or feels that a day or period is dull or tedious.

There are three types of boredom, all of which involve problems of engagement of attention. These include times when we are prevented from engaging in wanted activity, when we are forced to engage in unwanted activity, or when we are simply unable for no apparent reason to maintain engagement in any activity or spectacle. Boredom proneness is a tendency to experience boredom of all types. This is typically assessed by the Boredom Proneness Scale. Recent research has found that boredom proneness is clearly and consistently associated with failures of attention. Boredom and its proneness are both theoretically and empirically linked to depression and similar symptoms. Nonetheless, boredom proneness has been found to be as strongly correlated with attentional lapses as with depression. Although boredom is often viewed as a trivial and mild irritant, proneness to boredom has been linked to a very diverse range of possible psychological, physical, educational, and social problems.

... this is possibly a psychological portrait of Old Wolf's Ancient Castle. If I can get a name of the ancient castle, I'll do some internet research and see if I can post a history of this majestic structure.

History in what we call the Middle East (actually the cradle of creation) is indeed ancient. In our Western (west of where?) civilization any history before 1492 is simply an archeological study. While civilization was flourishing with things like the Tower of Babel, the Persian Empire and the rise of Babylon, the inhabitants of our western world were still chasing buffalo across the prairie with stone age weapons. The far east (east of where?) also had flourishing civilizations complete with gunpowder which we the western world (west of where?) immediately converted into the weapons of mass destruction du jour. So it goes.

As usual Wikipedia steals the show for research ....Here's their opening statement:

The Battle of Khaybar was fought in the year 629 between Muhammad and his followers against the Jews living in the oasis of Khaybar, located 150 kilometers (95 miles) from Medina in the north-western part of the Arabian peninsula, in modern-day Saudi Arabia. According to Muslim sources, the Muslims attacked Jews who, having reached agreement with the Muslims and then broken their word [citation needed], had barricaded themselves in a fort.

On the reasons for the attack, William Montgomery Watt notes that the presence of the Banu Nadir in Khaybar, who were inciting hostilities along with neighboring Arab tribes against Muhammad. Contemporary scholar Laura Veccia Vaglieri, while giving full credence to Watt's view, points out other reasons such as Muhammad's raising his prestige among his followers, as well as to capture booty to sustain subsequent conquests.

The Jews of Khaybar finally surrendered and were allowed to live in the oasis on the condition that they would give one-half of their produce to the Muslims. Jews continued to live in the oasis for several more years until they were finally expelled by caliph Umar. The imposition of tribute upon the conquered Jews served as a precedent for provisions in the Islamic law requiring the exaction of tribute known as jizya from non-Muslims under Muslim rule, and confiscation of land belonging to non-Muslims into the collective property of the Muslim community] In return, non-Muslim citizens were permitted to practice their faith, to enjoy a measure of communal autonomy, to be entitled to Muslim state's protection from outside aggression, to be exempted from military service and the Zakat as obligatory upon Muslim citizens.

How many biplanes can claim a jet fighter among their victims in an air-to-air engagement? The Polikarpov Po-2 can (see below).

Designed as a replacement for the British-designed Avro 504 in Russian training units, it served as a general-purpose Soviet biplane, nicknamed Kukuruznik (from Russian "kukuruza" for maize; thus, "maize duster" or "crop duster"), NATO reporting name Mule.

The reliable, uncomplicated concept of the Po-2's design made it an ideal training aircraft, as well as doubling as a low-cost ground-attack, aerial reconnaissance, psychological warfare and liaison aircraft during war, proved to be one of the most versatile light combat types to be built in the Soviet Union.

As of 1978 it remained in production for a longer period of time than any other Soviet-era aircraft. More than 40,000 Po-2s may have been built between 1928 and 1953, although this total needs confirmation. Low-rate production by small repair shops and air clubs likely continued until 1959.

In WWII, the Po-2 trainer was modified into the U-2 light night bomber. Wehrmacht troops nicknamed it Nähmaschine (sewing machine) for its rattling sound and Finnish troops called it Hermosaha (Nerve saw) as the engine had a very peculiar sound, which was described as nerve-wracking. The material effects of these missions may be regarded as insignificant, but the psychological effect on German troops was much more noticeable. They typically attacked by complete surprise in the dead of night, denying German troops sleep and keeping them constantly on their guard, contributing yet further to the already exceptionally high stress of combat on the Eastern Front. Their usual tactics involved flying only a few metres above the ground, rising for the final approach, cutting off the engine and making a gliding bombing run, leaving the targeted troops with only the eerie whistling of the wind in the wings' bracing-wires as an indication of the impending attack.

The U-2 was known as the aircraft used by the 588th Night Bomber Regiment, an all-women pilot and ground crew outfit. The unit became notorious for daring low-altitude night raids on German rear-area positions. Veteran pilots, Yekaterina Ryabova and Nadezhda Popova on one occasion flew 18 such missions in a single night. The women pilots observed that the enemy suffered a further degree of demoralisation simply due to their antagonists being female. As such, the pilots earned the nickname "Night Witches." The unit earned numerous Hero of the Soviet Union citations and dozens of Order of the Red Banner medals; most surviving pilots had flown nearly 1,000 combat missions each by the end of the war and had taken part in the Battle of Berlin.

North Korean forces used the Po-2 in the Korean War, inflicting serious damage during night raids on Allied bases. At 0300 hours on 28 November 1950, a lone Po-2 attacked Pyongyang airfield in north-western Korea, damaging 11 Mustangs, three so badly that they were destroyed when Pyongyang was abandoned several days later.

On 17 June 1951, at 01:30 hours, Suwon Air Base was bombed by two Po-2s. Each dropped a pair of fragmentation bombs. One hit a motor pool, damaging some equipment, but two bombs burst on the flight-line of the 335th Fighter Interceptor Squadron. One F-86A Sabre was struck on the wing and burned out. Prompt action by personnel who moved aircraft away from the burning Sabre preventing further loss. Yet eight other Sabres had been damaged in the brief attack, four seriously. One F-86 pilot was among the wounded.

UN forces named the Po-2's night-time appearance Bedcheck Charlie and had great difficulty in shooting it down - even though night fighters had radar as standard equipment in the 1950s, the wood-and-fabric-construction of the Po-2 gave only a minimal radar echo, making it hard for an opposing fighter pilot to acquire his target. On 16 June 1953, a USMC AD-4 from VMC-1 piloted by Major George H Linnemeier and CWO Vernon S Kramer shot down a Po-2, the only documented Skyraider air victory of the war.

And that jet fighter mentioned above? Well, one Lockheed F-94 Starfire jet fighter was lost while slowing to 110 mph during an intercept of a Po-2 biplane; maybe not shot down, but I'll bet the Po-2 pilot claimed it. - all details from various Wikipedia pages.

Paris syndrome (French: Syndrome de Paris, Japanese: パリ症候群, Pari shōkōgun) is a transient psychological disorder encountered by some individuals visiting or vacationing in Paris, (and Switzerland by the look of some of the tourists).

It is characterized by a number of psychiatric symptoms such as acute delusional states, hallucinations, feelings of persecution (perceptions of being a victim of prejudice, aggression, or hostility from others), derealisation, depersonalisation, anxiety, and also psychosomatic manifestations such as dizziness, tachycardia, sweating, and others.Similar syndromes include Jerusalem syndrome and Stendhal syndrome.

Japanese visitors are observed to be especially susceptible. It was first noted in Nervure, the French journal of psychiatry in 2004. From the estimated six million yearly visitors, the number of reported cases is not significant: according to an administrator at the Japanese embassy in France, around twenty Japanese tourists a year are affected by the syndrome. The susceptibility of Japanese people may be linked to the popularity of Paris in Japanese culture, notably the idealised image of Paris prevalent in Japanese advertising.

The authors of the journal article cite the following matters as factors that combine to induce the phenomenon:

Language barrier - few Japanese speak French and vice versa. This is believed to be the principal cause and is thought to engender the remainder. Apart from the obvious differences between French and Japanese, many everyday phrases and idioms are shorn of meaning and substance when translated, adding to the confusion of some who have not previously encountered such.

Cultural difference - the large difference between not only the languages but the manner. The French can communicate on an informal level in comparison to the rigidly formal Japanese culture, which proves too great a difficulty for some Japanese visitors. It is thought that it is the rapid and frequent fluctuations in mood, tense and attitude, especially in the delivery of humour, which cause the most difficulty.

Idealised image of Paris - it is also speculated as manifesting from an individual's inability to reconcile a disparity between the Japanese popular image and the reality of Paris.

Exhaustion - finally, it is thought that the over-booking of one's time and energy, whether on a business trip or on holiday, in attempting to cram too much into every moment of a stay in Paris, along with the effects of jet lag, all contribute to the psychological destabilization of some visitors.

I enjoyed my visit to Switzerland and apart from the shock of the prices in tourist spots I had a great time. I hope the Japanese enjoyed it too.

Trying to catch a state of mind isn’t easy but I have to admit, its lots of fun. In this collection titled “psychological Circus” I went on a task to explore the human’s mental various states and moods. The collection is a journey through a mental circus, clowns included. I enjoyed this experience and setup, as it’s my first studio experience where I got to learn more about limited space and light settings. The series takes many form and shape depending on the state of mind I wanted to portray and the feeling behind it, using the famed Nikon DX1 camera.

Finally am back .. thanx for commenting on my pics and adding me to ur contacts list ..

Have you ever been the sole possessor of information that could have a bunch of people put into prison for a very long time?

Psychologically it's not a very good place to find yourself.

After a while you start feeling kinda like you're walking around with 'bullseyes' all over yourself.

You realize that for a good number of people, life would be a lot easier if you were dead.

Once you come to that magnificently charming realization the next thing you gotta do is make it so that if anything happens to you, that the information isn't gonna die withya.

Then ya gotta get that out there to the people who might want you dead.

It's 'life insurance.'

The kind that keeps you alive.

It's better than the kind that pays off when you're dead... that should be called 'death insurance.'

I'd found myself right in the middle of this treachery one day and I didn't like it one bit.

One night as I was unlocking the front door of my house I wondered... if I took a bullet right now to the back of the head... would I feel it?

Would I hear it?

Would I see for a second blood and gore and pieces of my brains splattered on the front door in front of me before 'the lights went out?'

Would that moment be like when you turned off an old TV and the whole picture seemed to shrink down quickly to one tiny dot of light and then vanish?

What I knew scared me.

I'd been told enough times to watch my back.

That I knew who I was dealing with was scary enough... but as the scandal grew to incorporate more and more players who's names and faces I didn't know...

Man.

You couldn't know what it's like unless you've been there.

And my friend... you're gonna help me out right now.

There's only one last piece of the puzzle that I haven't shared with anyone.

And I'm going to share it with you.

Right here and right now.

Right here on flickr.

I've been avoiding the media for a couple of days now.

I really don't wanna be talkin' about this stuff on TV anymore.

The life I live 'behind the camera' is the one I really prefer.

There was one moment in the whole stinking rotten episode that scared the living shit out of me.

It made me drop the phone and it left me speechless and feeling pretty vulnerable.

After I'd figured out their dirty little secret I hadda figure out who in the hell I could tell about what they were doing... who could I tell that would do something?

I found out that the people who are supposed to make sure that water that we drink is clean and pure in this state is the Illinios Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA).

On some of the documents that Krista and I had obtained through FOIA requests that she'd made there was the name of a guy at the IEPA.

I figured I'd start there.

Jesus I can barely type right now just recalling those moments.

The guy's name was Saavu.

It looked like he'd been sent out there to test the water supply a couple of times and it seemed like he might be a little familiar with the setup and the goin's on there.

I thought maybe I could trust him.

The first time I got him on the phone he sounded kinda funny.

You know I just couldn't put my finger on it but his demeanor was kind of odd.

When I told him the story he assured me that he knew what was going on and that they weren't doing anything wrong.

'Maybe he just didn't get it' I thought... maybe he just needed to see the documents we'd found.

Still... I figured he was the guy who could help bring all of this to light.

I guess I really didn't know the true meaning of the word 'treachery' but I was about to learn it real fast.

And it was gonna be a tough lesson at that.

I told Saavu that I had lots more information... and I told him I'd get back to him.

There were about six or seven more phone calls and I just couldn't understand why the guy from the IEPA was seeming to defend what these guys were doing.

Even I knew it was fucking murder... but Saavu just seemed to keep brushing it off.

I couldn't understand it.

The very last time I called the IEPA I was starting to get frustrated and a little pissed off.

Imagine calling 911 to tell them your house is on fire and they say 'we don't believe you... call back when you have proof.'

Yeah.

That's how I was feelin' here.

But things were about to take a dramatic turn my friend.

A very dark turn.

I figured out a few more things... and I thought I'd give Saavu one more call...

Maybe there was a little anger in my voice... maybe I sounded different to the receptionist...

When I asked for Saavu she said 'hold on a minute Joe.'

Joe isn't my name.

But it is the name of The Fall Guy... the guy who ran the water operation in town.

It also happened to be the name of The Snake... the guy everybody hated... The Old Man's head henchman... the one everybody figured was working with the feds first.

I was on hold before I could correct her.

When Saavu picked up the phone he sounded almost breathless.

'Joe' he said 'that guy keeps calling about the well.'

My jaw dropped and the phone fell to the floor.

I was scared shitless.

This was all getting way too crazy... I mean... it seemed insane is what it seemed.

Corruption makes for some strange bedfellows.

And you dear reader are the first I'm making this public to.

I've never even told the media.

I waited almost three years to see what the feds were gonna do.

When I realized they weren't going to do anything but indict a couple of lowly water department clerks and that they showed no interest in getting down to the truth about what happened in Deadwood... well... I figured I'd come clean right here to you.

I don't want to be the holder of this secret anymore.

You're gonna hold it with me.

The Illinois EPA was in on it.

The Illinois EPA was a part of the coverup.

Fucking bastards.

I couldn't trust anyone.

Le malheureux magnifique (The magnificent unfortunate) was created in 1972 by Montreal artist Pierryves Angers.

In 1972, a competition was organized by the CÉGEP du Vieux Montréal with a view to providing the façade of its arts building with an artwork. Angers’s proposal was chosen by the people of the neighbourhood and the college community, and the artwork was installed in Place Pasteur in 1973. In 1991, it was moved to the corner of Sherbrooke and Saint-Denis streets in front of the Alcide-Chaussée Building.

The imposing sculpture, composed of a steel structure covered with a layer of white cement, portrays a larger-than-life figure. The simplified huddled figure has been interpreted in various ways over the years. The man, with his head resting on his knees and hands covering the nape of his neck, conveys the psychological state of a person who is the main character in a story to be told. The viewer is free to imagine a victim of social seclusion, someone who is sad, or someone who is simply meditating.

Todays Brief was "on your mind"

"lots on my mind at present and not getting much sense form my mind. Brain fog is one of the most important symptoms today, even though I have not seen it listed as a diagnosis or recognized health condition in most medical or psychological texts. A clinical definition of brain fog. Brain fog may be described as feelings of mental confusion or lack of mental clarity."

taken from www.drlwilson.com/articles/brain_fog.htm

yep that's me at the mo

This is a Halloween brain jelly mould, with the smoke from an incense stick under it, with the light from the window behind it.

... as a reviewer of stuff for old people, I often review a piece of film with a piece of music and promote them both. This I am doing in this photoshow, but the name of the movie from which the images came shall remain a secret ... and for a very good reason.

... I think it was in the early fifties there was a lot of talk going around about subliminal mind control by inserting barely audible words or phrases and advertisers were sold on this non-advertising concept until the fad exhausted itself. Now I'm going to do a major test of this psychological theory.

... the vocalist is Lana Del Rey ... yeah, right ... not her real name, but she is a young woman who has created a most unusual personna for herself as a singer and song writer. She has a most impressive and extraordinary portfolio as Wikipedia will proclaim.

... the movie, as I said will go unnamed and if perchance later on you see a trailer for this movie and something subliminal is triggered and you feel dejavu and are compelled to see the movie... please email me. If I get any responses I will keep a record of them.

... I was amazed at how well the sound and images went together. The name of the song is Born to Die, written by Lana and the images certainly don't distract from that sure knowledge.

... the video uses the flow downward movement as it changes images, which is a motion much utalized by hypnotists and believe it or not, I just had a piece of information flow down into my consciousness ... like a message from G-d..

... the message went somewhat like this .... "In view of your advancing years, G-d feels it would seem appropriate to your future well-being to slack off on the B-ll Sh-t ... " Perhaps I should come clean.

... actually, what happened was I grabbed the images from the movie trailer, manicured them for the photoshow, got my music converted from mp4 to mp 3 and made the photoshow...then I realized I had forgotten the name of the movie in the trailer and couldn't find the trailer.

... but it's OK ... at my age I'm supposed to forget sh-t ... right? ... so here's the link to the photoshow ...

There are four destructive interactions, called the four dissembling horsemen. They include:

* Criticism — instead of complaining about a behavior, you attack the other's personality or character, usually with blame. Criticism of personality also comes in the form of listing complaints about past behaviors and thereby suggesting a character fault.

* Contempt — contempt is criticism that is intended to insult and psychologically abuse a person. Contempt reflects a very negative view of that person.

* Defensiveness — defensiveness is a way of avoiding taking responsibility for setting things right by denying responsibility, making excuses, attributing negative thoughts to others, using one's own complaints to counter another's complaints, and simply repeating oneself.

* Stonewalling — stonewalling is a break down of communication. The person turns into a 'stone wall' and stops responding to communication.

adapted from wikipedia

The phenomenon of overeating at a Chinese buffet is often driven by a psychological concept known as the "sunk cost fallacy" combined with competitive pricing. When you pay a fixed entry price (e.g. $20), your brain instinctively wants to "win" the transaction by consuming more than $20 worth of food. This economic pressure overrides your body's natural hunger signals, treating the meal as a challenge rather than a form of nourishment. You aren't just eating until you are full; you are eating until you feel you have extracted sufficient value from the restaurant, leading to a disconnect between your stomach’s capacity and your mind’s ambition.

Biologically, you are also falling victim to "sensory-specific satiety." If you were eating a large bowl of only fried rice, you would get bored of the flavor and stop eating relatively quickly. However, a buffet offers dozens of distinct flavor profiles - salty, sweet, sour, spicy, and umami. When your palate becomes "bored" or satiated by the General Tso’s chicken, the brain perceives the shrimp lo mein or the crab rangoons as an entirely new food source, effectively resetting your appetite. This allows you to consume significantly more total calories than you would if the meal consisted of just one or two dishes.

The immediate consequence of this binge is often a physical state known colloquially as the "food coma," or post-prandial somnolence. Chinese buffet food in Westernized settings is typically calorically dense and heavy in refined carbohydrates (rice, noodles, breading). Consuming a massive amount of these carbs causes a rapid spike in blood glucose, followed by a surge of insulin to manage it. This eventually leads to a blood sugar crash that leaves you feeling lethargic and foggy. Furthermore, the sheer volume of food diverts a significant amount of your body's energy and blood flow toward the digestive system, leaving the rest of you feeling tired and sluggish.

A more specific health issue related to this cuisine is sodium retention. Many buffet-style Chinese dishes rely heavily on sauces rich in soy sauce, MSG (monosodium glutamate), and salt to maintain flavor over time on a steam table. A single meal can easily exceed the recommended daily sodium limit for an adult. This excess sodium causes your body to hold onto water to dilute the salt, leading to significant bloating, puffiness, and excessive thirst (often called the "sodium hangover") for hours or even days after the meal. For individuals with high blood pressure, this sudden sodium spike can place dangerous stress on the cardiovascular system.

In the long term, frequent indulgence in this style of eating contributes to metabolic strain and weight gain. The combination of deep-fried proteins, sugary glazes (like those found on orange chicken), and simple carbohydrates creates a "hyper-palatable" meal that is easy to overconsume but poor in satiating fiber and micronutrients. Regularly subjecting your body to this cycle of extreme caloric surplus and insulin spiking increases the risk of developing insulin resistance, Type 2 diabetes, and hypertension. Ultimately, the "value" gained from the all-you-can-eat price is negated by the toll the excess sugar, bad fats, and sodium take on your metabolic health.

Scarecrow's back, huh? Great, psychological warfare, pretty much. Fear toxin itself is bad enough, but the withdrawal from it? Bleh, puking in my mouth just thinking of it. Anyway, we had a man, now it was our job to find him. Sadly, no leads. Penguin's still at Gotham Mercy hopped up on Fear Toxin himself, so no way we're gonna squeeze anything out of him, even if we slap him with an antidote since...well, Bruce already sent one to the doctors there and it didn't work. So now we gotta find Scarecrow AND figure out how to whip up an antidote for whatever stain is going through Penguin right now. Our best bet is paying the Iceberg Lounge a visit since it's really all we got. Steph and I stake it out for a good 2 or so hours and accomplish...nothing.

"....birds can be really smart, Tim! And Penguin can probably get his hands on mind control devices or something."

"He wouldn't make actual penguins waiters, Steph. That's stupid."

"They're pretty much born with Tuxedo on, though! It makes sense!"

"Yeah, because the Health and Safety Administration juuuuust doesn't have enough to worry about this place."

"You're no fun.....hey, look!"

Huh. Our only lead paying off. 3 guys walking out of the Lounge. The place is closed and nobody else is around. They're all holding gascans, too. What's torching the Iceberg Lounge gonna do? And who are these guys? VIPs? They look like some pretty generic goons in body armor, only wearing skull masks. Wow Dr. Crane, helluva imagination you got there.

"No no, guys, you don't get how a bonfire works! You need a firepit for it. Ice doesn't really burn that well. Just kinda makes a wet mess."

"Aw shit, it's the birdboy and his bitch!!"

"....I'ma break his nose. You alright with that?"

"Go right ahead, my dear!"

"Sweet!"

"Hey look, the bitch wants to fight! Check this out, guys!

"Dude, we gotta go, Dr. Crane doesn't want any setbacks! You know what he'll do to us!!"

"Nah, I got this!"

"You sound like you just graduated middle school. Seriously, how old are you?"

"I'm a man, bitch! Why don'tcha just go back to the kitchen, huh?"

"Classy. Say, those masks you're wearing. They armored at all or is just cloth, what's going on here?"

"Oh, um, it's just padded to fit over, y'know? Pretty comfortable!"

"That's nice."

"I know, I reall--"

*CCRCK*

"And there's that promised broken nose...."

"AHHHH!!!! OH GOD IT HURTS SO MUCH!!! AHHHH!!!!"

"So, who's got shards of cartilage dancing all under his face and is crying like the real bitch here? This guuuuy."

If I ever need a reminder of why I love Steph. I'll just think of this moment....

Phase III Psychological Thriller Series

Concept by Keith Gass

Extremely thin woman pinching flesh on her buttocks with her fingers showing the lack of excess fat conceptual of weight loss through psychological eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia

John Fowles - The Collector

Pan Books, 1969

Cover Artist: Tom Adams

Hailed as the first modern psychological thriller, The Collector is the internationally bestselling novel that catapulted John Fowles into the front rank of contemporary novelists. This tale of obsessive love–the story of a lonely clerk who collects butterflies and of the beautiful young art student who is his ultimate quarry–remains unparalleled in its power to startle and mesmerize.

The new serie had as inspiration the Rorschach Test, a psychological.test, that consists in give some possible interpretations to that ten boards painted in a symetric way.

It has being very funny to produce the images, and I had help of my wife - that is psychologist. She is helping me to choose the theme for each spot that I have done.

It was either Jimmy Buffett, Alan Jackson, or perhaps it was Kenny Chesney who once said that the state of being often referred to as 'Island Time' is that most highly elusive physical and psychological phenomenon in which one has nothing urgent to do on vacation and one has all day long to do it. 🌞😎🍓

Shantal Murangira was separated from 2 of her children after she fled her native Rwanda over 3 years ago.

When they joined her several months ago, she had difficulties proving her parentage and placing them on her government registration documents.

With the help of paralegal councillors supported by the NRC, she finally managed to overcome these bureaucratic hurdles, thus also receiving increased food rations.

Theme "Tunisia, Naturally Generous"

bio mediterraneo

The Concept

Tunisia is located in the heart of the Mediterranean. Here, in this land rich in history spanning more than 3,000 years, warm, generous people live in naturally abundant landscapes of olive groves, beaches, sand dunes, wheat fields, forests and palm trees. Located in the Bio-mediterraneum Cluster Tunisia’s Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015 is the "Enchanted Oasis", a space that pays tribute to the Oasis of Gabes, on the littoral of the Mediterranean, and one of the last of its kind in the world.

This natural ecosystem fits perfectly within the theme Feeding the Planet, Energy For Life. Being close to the sea and with its multiple layers of cultivation - palm trees, date palms, fruit trees and vegetables – it offers a favourable microclimate for the development of highly diverse flora. There is a symbiosis between humans and the natural environment: an exchange of energy which ensures the balance and harmony of this unique ecosystem.

The life force of this enchanted oasis will be a key concept of the project, bringing to the exhibition a source of Nature’s inspiration. As an interactive and contemplative space it invites visitors in, physically - through the senses - and psychologically, to create their own itineraries alone or in groups. The soil turns into golden sand. Pomegranate, fig and almond trees grow in the shade of date palms. On exploring the space, visitors hear the sound of running water or traditional folk music. Visitors participate in scenes of traditional bread-making, date-picking, or the irrigation of vegetable crops, as if in a dream, between the real and the virtual. At the end of their tour, they can then enjoy typical dishes, exemplars of Tunisia’s ancestral cuisine and its diverse cultural heritage.

====================================================

Media manipulation is a series of related techniques in which partisans create an image or argument that favours their particular interests. Such tactics may include the use of logical fallacies and propaganda techniques, and often involve the suppression of information or points of view by crowding them out, by inducing other people or groups of people to stop listening to certain arguments, or by simply diverting attention elsewhere. In Propaganda: The Formation of Men's Attitudes, Jacques Ellul writes that public opinion can only express itself through channels which are provided by the mass media of communication-without which there could be no propaganda.[1] It is used within public relations, propaganda, marketing, etc. While the objective for each context is quite different, the broad techniques are often similar. As illustrated below, many of the more modern mass media manipulation methods are types of distraction, on the assumption that the public has a limited attention span.

Propagandising[edit]

Main article: Propaganda

Propagandising is a form of communication that is aimed at influencing the attitude of a community toward some cause or position by presenting only one side of an argument. Propaganda is commonly created by governments, but some forms of mass-communication created by other powerful organisations can be considered propaganda as well. As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda, in its most basic sense, presents information primarily to influence an audience. Propaganda is usually repeated and dispersed over a wide variety of media in order to create the chosen result in audience attitudes. While the term propaganda has justifiably acquired a strongly negative connotation by association with its most manipulative and jingoistic examples (e.g. Nazi Propaganda used to justify the Holocaust), propaganda in its original sense was neutral, and could refer to uses that were generally benign or innocuous, such as public health recommendations, signs encouraging citizens to participate in a census or election, or messages encouraging persons to report crimes to the police, among others.

Psychological warfare[edit]

Main article: Psychological warfare

Psychological warfare is sometimes considered synonymous with propaganda. The principal distinction being that propaganda normally occurs within a nation, whereas psychological warfare normally takes place between nations, often during war or cold war. Various techniques are used to influence a target's values, beliefs, emotions, motives, reasoning, or behavior. Target audiences can be governments, organizations, groups, and individuals.

Public relations[edit]

Main article: Public relations

Public relations (PR) is the management of the flow of information between an individual or an organization and the public. Public relations may include an organization or individual gaining exposure to their audiences using topics of public interest and news items that do not require direct payment. PR is generally created by specialised individuals or firms at the behest of already public individuals or organizations, as a way of managing their public profile.
