Apr 15 - I'd like to introduce you to the proud papa of the first (ever) recorded Owlet at Mt. Auburn Cemetery. He sat watchfully in a nearby tree while the mama took great care with her new charge. We aren't sure if there are more than one, but one owlet has been seen with the mother. It's hard to believe that there are no previous records of a Great Horned Owl being born at Mt. Auburn, so you can imagine how exciting this is!

Happy Canada Day
This gentleman who told me he was the oldest person at the war memorial today. He's in his nineties and when I shock his hand he had a grip of that was very sure very strong. July 1 has mixed emotions here in Newfoundland, it is our great countries birthday but also on this day 801 Newfoundlanders went to battle in the Battle of Somme and the next day only 68 were able to answer roll call that is why it's called Memorial Day/Canada Day here.
This woman was really proud when folks started clicking her little daughter(she was a real cutie).

Jhonas Diaz Birthday Celebration
It was Thursday and a weekend the following day. Today is also Jhonas Diaz birthday, we were invited by his wife for a dinner at Al Majeles Restaurant located in Al Saad. But before heading there, we took my mom to Hamad Hospital Emergency to have an operation. We waited for her to be admitted in the hospital, but unfortunately the doctor said that she need to come back the following Sunday coz she was anemic and her sugar level was very high.
At around nine, I said to my brother that ill just drop Giro to my mother-in-laws house for him to rest. But before heading there we went first to the birthday celebration. Our previous household was all there also Ninong Henry and Shae Vencilao joined the celebration.
After the dinner, instead of going to my mother-in-laws house we headed home and let giro and wifey rest in the house. After dropping them at the house I went back to the hospital to wait for the result of my mom's medical test. The result came out at around three in the morning, then we went to see my mom inside the hospital, she was in the womens emergency so only womens are allowed inside. We bought the medicines that the doctor prescribed and ask her to have a rest. Lorelyn stayed with my mom in the hospital coz the they need to wait till the dextrose is done. Me, my brother and dad went home to get some rest.

Modified Hall No. 6990 'WITHERSLACK HALL' awaits departure time at Loughborough Central, with the 1030 to Leicester North, on January 25th 2025.
She was built at Swindon, entering service in April 1948 at Old Oak Common (PDN).
Subsequent allocations as follows:-
Old Oak Common recoded 81A in January 1950
Oxford (81F) December 1950
Old Oak Common (91A) January 1952
St. Philips Marsh (82B) October 1963
Bristol Barrow Road (82E) May 1964
One of her final jobs was to take some others to Barry.
Withdrawn on December 17th 1965, she arrived at Woodham's, Barry for scrap, in February 1966.
She departed Barry for preservation, on the GCR, in November 1975. Restoration was completed in August 1986.
She took part in the 1948 Locomotive Exchanges, and actually ran along here on the former Great Central!.

I am a proud new owner of a SB900! I use it mostly as an onboard flash and as a CLS commander for my 2 SB600's! I really love the UI and the buttons on it. It costed me a pretty penny, but I sure do love the flash. It came with a green and orange color gels, a gel holder attachment, and a diffuser attachment. Pretty nice to have along with the regular pop up card.
Also the 200mm is pretty darn narrow, but fairly wide! I do like having the flexibility to get such a narrow beam! More play time!
Taken a second after feeding the youngster, the parent just looks so proud of his offspring. Well done for eating, my boy!
This usher at the Giants game last night had a copy of today's Chronicle, and she was very proud to show it to anyone who was curious.
Her son, Erik, had a base hit in the bottom of the last inning in the championship game of the San Francisco Section. The hit drove home the winning run, and let's just say that mama was very proud.

I know I seem to give that title to a lot of pictures, but I really am one proud Mommy. :) Sometimes I want to talk about them but don't want to sound like I am bragging either...but when it comes to your kids and their accomplishments...we as parents SHOULD be proud.
We had CJ's second 1st grade parent teacher conference of the year last night and I almost found myself tearing up in the middle of the conference because I am just so proud of CJ and where he is academically.
In the November conference he had just been moved up to the highest reading group in his class, but he was dealing with some self control issues with other kids in his class. So, as proud of him as we were about the awesome reading, etc, it was hard to over look the behavioral issues, even as minor as they were.
So we talked to CJ about being a "leader" and setting an example for his peers instead of joining them when they are not making good choices. Talk and talk of wondering if he was listening.
The first thing out of his teachers mouth last night was "CJ had really grown into such a leader in the classroom."
Auhhhhh. I teared up. He really DOES listen.
Anyway, that was only the beginning of her praise for CJ. We waited for the "but.....", and it never came.
She pulled out the reading progress chart where it shows what level they are reading at and CJ is reading at the average level of a 3rd grader. I am telling you want, they selected him for this enrichment reading program in his school called "Book Worms", and he just took off. He can seriously pick up an adult book and read it and sound out all of the words (this can be good or bad! LOL!). She said by far he has the highest reading skills in the class. :)

She went on to say that she is not sure what he isn't good at and actually used the "scholar athlete" word. She went on to say that usually boys this age are good at one or the other, he is amazing at both. WOW. WOW. WOW.
With "S" being the highest you can get he had 8 out of 32 areas were an "S" (Area of Strength). He had 3 "S"'s in November. The other 24 areas he got "G"'s in or Grade/Age Appropriate.
Then there were a bunch of "effort" scores. 4 (High Effort) is the highest. They grade them in 22 different areas. He had 4's in 18 out of the 22 areas. :) The rest were all 3's (Consistent Effort).
His one and only 2 (Fair, skill needs correction at times, but is close to standard) came in....well....self control in Physical Education class. Which is SO funny because Chris and I are both Physical Education majors and we went to college with CJ's PE teacher! In her comments it DID say this, "CJ's effort and participation have been terrific up to this point. Many of the skills presented come very easy for him. We continue to work on controlling our excitement and lot letting it get the best of him." He just loves PE so much, he can't contain himself! LOL!
Anyway....I am enjoying every minute of the days when it is still "cool" to be smart. I hope that he continues on the same path...I hope I continue to hear "I don't know what there is left for him to improve on." at more conferences in his lifetime.
He is an amazing little boy....and I am so proud to call him my son. :)
