A rather modern statue of Jizō (the Japanese name of the bodhisattva Kṣitigarbha).
He is, among other things, the protector of children and the souls of the dead and is not an uncommon sight at Japanese cemeteries. As in this case - this is the cemetery adjacent to the Buddhist temple Reibai-in (霊梅院) in Yanaka, Tokyo. The wooden planks that can be seen in the background have sutras written on them and are placed at graves (though the graves themselves are obscured by the wall). The colourful mug is an offering to Jizō, and the small, vase-like things in front of the status is for placing incense.

Este graffiti que está por los bosques de Palermo, se basa en una peste que invadió en Edimburgo en el siglo XVII.
De hecho, había una larga tradición de cuarentena organizado en la ciudad. Llevaban la llamada "máscara de la peste", que era de cuero y en forma de pico, y ahí despositaban hierbas para tratar de protegerse a sí mismos, pero muchos murieron.
Está en Palermo. Ciudad de Buenos Aires.

Le projet du Jardin des Géants résulte d’une volonté de transformer des parkings de surface en un lieu de promenade et de loisirs étonnant, ouvert à tous.
Le Jardin des Géants est d'une superficie de 2 ha. Il a été conçu par l'atelier Mutabilis Paysage et Urbanisme, l'architecte Duncan LEWIS et les ingénieurs DVVD.
Au cours de votre balade, vous pouvez découvrir aussi les sculptures de Quentin Garel et de l'artiste Stéphanie Buttier.
Le Jardin des Géants fait référence à l’histoire la métropole lilloise et de la région. Les Géants représentent des héros imaginaires, des personnages historiques ou même des animaux. Véritables symboles des cités, ils en sont les fondateurs et les protecteurs.
Le Jardin des Géants est certainement l’un des plus beaux jardins au nord de Paris, par sa luxuriance, sa beauté et son originalité.
45 000 végétaux de 300 espèces différentes composent ce jardin essentiellement planté d’essences horticoles : metasequoia, magnolia, arbre aux mouchoirs, bambous, plantes vivaces, bulbeuses, aquatiques ou encore grimpantes…

The Columns of Carloforte some legends say they were petrified sailors for punishment, or monsters that St. Peter, the protector of the homonymous island, would turn rock to protect the inhabitants. The monument, well-known because it is commonly considered as a shearing example, is included in geological itineraries.
Si sollevano sul mare come pilastri naturali di pietra vulcanica nella costa meridionale dell’Isola di San Pietro, in uno scenario costituito da promontori, calette e falesie. Sulle origini delle Colonne di Carloforte alcune leggende raccontano che fossero dei marinai pietrificati per punizione, oppure di mostri che San Pietro, protettore dell’isola omonima, avrebbe trasformato in roccia per proteggere gli abitanti. Il monumento, noto perché comunemente considerato esempio di faraglione, è incluso in divrersi itinerari geologici.

Amazingly, the German forests are full of "growth protectors" in areas of reforestation. This one was seen near Mintraching (Upper palatinate, Bavaria).
The Protector
An early morning trip out into the Eden Valley this morning hoping for a wee bit of mist to work with.
As always I am drawn to trees, especially those loners caught in a bit of mist. A really great looking tree this one close to Temple Sowerby near Penrith.
I loved the sheep that were lying beneath its branches, almost under its protection.
