The Prospect Park lake is the only lake in Brooklyn. It is man-made and roughly 60 acres (equivalent to 45 football fields!) in size. (www.thebrooklynhopper.com/the-prospect-park-lake-brooklyn...)
Derek Jarman's Cottage was originally a Victorian fisherman's cottage on Dungeness, the shingle promontory on the south coast of Kent. Derek Jarman, film director, artist, writer and gardener bought the cottage in 1986 to move away from London and it was his home until his death in 1994. Derek's partner Keith Collins continued to live there until his death in 2018 and in January 2020 a private trust was set up to purchase the cottage and preserve Prospect Cottage with its internationally important shingle garden for future generations.
Prospect Cottage is a house on the coast in Dungeness, Kent. Originally a Victorian fisherman's hut, the house was purchased by director and artist Derek Jarman in 1987, and was his home until his death in 1994.
Jarman bought the house following the death of his father, at a time when he was looking to leave London. Actress and friend Tilda Swinton recalls Jarman buying "gallons of pitch black paint" to redecorate. The cottage facade of tarred boards and bright yellow paintwork were maintained from the previous owners. The timber walls of the cottage are weatherproofed with tar, and one wall is decorated with lines from the John Donne poem "The Sun Rising". Jarman's 1990 film The Garden was filmed at the house.
The water was so still at Prospect yesterday evening, making for the perfect reflections, even if it was low tide.

Prospect is a Canadian coastal community on the Chebucto Peninsula in Nova Scotia's Halifax Regional Municipality.
It borders the Atlantic Ocean approximately 23 kilometers southwest of Halifax off the Prospect Bay Road.
And might I say it is stunning. And for those of you who don't know I am completely in love with Nova Scotia!

Designed and constructed over a thirty year period (1865 - 1895) by Frederick Law Olmstead and Calvert Vaux, the masterminds behind Central Park, Prospect Park has blossomed into a premier destination for Brooklyn visitors and resident alike.
Widely known for its intricate manmade watercourse (wetlands) and its trees, the bulk of Brooklyn's remaining indigenous forest, the park is highly functional green space. Contained within its 526 acres are zoo, the first urban-area Audubon Center in the nation, an ice rink, a band shell, a carousel, and dozens of athletic and recreational facilities.

This poem by John Donne is engraved on the end of the house and always brings a smile to my face when I see it and sit and read it

This is the cottage and garden of the film director, Derek Jarman who died in 1994. He made a garden on the shingle at Dungeness - a very bleak place with the backdrop of the power station there - and it is beautifully detailed and was obviously created with love.

A small, stocky wading bird, the Green Heron is common in wet spots across much of North America. It can be difficult to see as it stands motionless waiting for small fish to approach within striking range, but it frequently announces its presence by its loud squawking
The Green Heron is part of a complex of small herons that sometimes are considered one species. When lumped, they are called Green-backed Heron. When split, they are the Green Heron, the widespread Striated Heron, and the Galapagos Heron.

Took this while leaving the village and heading towards the location for the hike I was going on.
The small community of Prospect on the atlantic coast of Nova Scotia, Canada. Most of the homes in the village have remained in the same families for generations.
There are no churches in Prospect since the closing of "Our Lady of Mt. Camel" which is now up for sale.
So many churches are being sold in all the communities, even in the cities. Maybe a project would be to make a book of them before they are gone - just a thought.
