Madagascar - Un travail sale et épuisant. Exploiter quelques lopins de terre serait sans doute plus rentable. Mais l'espoir -illusoire- de faire fortune, incite ces paysans à se reconvertir dans la prospection d’or.

Madagascar - Exhausting work. Continuing to exploit a few plots of land would undoubtedly be more profitable. But the illusory hope of making a fortune encourages these peasants to retrain in prospecting for gold.

The overlook at the Opabin Prospect, looking out over Lake O’Hara and Mary Lake, is one of the best hike-rewards I’ve ever seen.

Thanks for looking! I appreciate all your comments and faves!

Finally a few days of spring in prospect after a very cold start of the spring this year.

The water was so still at Prospect yesterday evening, making for the perfect reflections, even if it was low tide.

I'm sure there used to be a stile here, now it's a kissing gate, but this spot along the Cotswold Way near Bath is still called Prospect Stile with a lovely view over Kelston Round Hill. We parked at Bath Park and Ride this week and walked the six miles along the Cotswold Way into Bath, a lovely city to approach this way. And after a well earned cuppa, got the bus back.

Prospect Hill tower / park in Somerville MA is a great sunset view spot in the winter, since the sunset has migrated further south and most of the trees have lost their leaves. It should get even better for the next few weeks as the sunset moves further south till the solstices and the last of the fall foliage falls off.

(In the summer, it's just an ok sunset view spot - it's pleasant to be there, but much of the sunset ends up behind thick tree leaves.)

Derek Jarman's Cottage was originally a Victorian fisherman's cottage on Dungeness, the shingle promontory on the south coast of Kent. Derek Jarman, film director, artist, writer and gardener bought the cottage in 1986 to move away from London and it was his home until his death in 1994. Derek's partner Keith Collins continued to live there until his death in 2018 and in January 2020 a private trust was set up to purchase the cottage and preserve Prospect Cottage with its internationally important shingle garden for future generations.

The Prospect Park lake is the only lake in Brooklyn. It is man-made and roughly 60 acres (equivalent to 45 football fields!) in size. (www.thebrooklynhopper.com/the-prospect-park-lake-brooklyn...)

November 22, 2007 was a particularly warm Thanksgiving Day, with trees in their peak colors.

This old diner burned to the ground in 2007. As I work on backing up old digital images going back to 1999, I came across this one shot in 2005 that I wanted to get out online.

Designed and constructed over a thirty year period (1865 - 1895) by Frederick Law Olmstead and Calvert Vaux, the masterminds behind Central Park, Prospect Park has blossomed into a premier destination for Brooklyn visitors and resident alike.

Widely known for its intricate manmade watercourse (wetlands) and its trees, the bulk of Brooklyn's remaining indigenous forest, the park is highly functional green space. Contained within its 526 acres are zoo, the first urban-area Audubon Center in the nation, an ice rink, a band shell, a carousel, and dozens of athletic and recreational facilities.
