from sunflower center to petal edge...

Last stop before leaving Kentucky and wanted to take something with me. Never sure I'll be back this way again.

Just messing around, you know!

Progression to eternity..

Bob just has to put the boards on this barn (sliding) door.

Meanwhile, I have 'bitten the bullet' so to speak and commissioned a company to come and remove all the trees with 'X's'. They should come this week if the weather is good and hopefully I'll have video!

This picture was taken from a window on the back of the house with part of the screen porch addition 14 x17', on the right. (Which Bob built with some assistance from me in 2009 through into 2011.)

One of the challenges of fall foliage photography is timing. One never knows exactly when the color will peak and the peak is not the same for every tree. Peak fall color comes at different times for various trees. Some trees here have already lost all their foliage, some are still mostly green or just turning and others are past peak color and fading.

My first eclipse! I've never seen one before, much less photographed one. I had lots of help with the photoshopping =)

Not perfect, but I like it! View it large.

66731 drags family member 92043, collectively known as 0D54, up the Lichfield T.V Chord and onto the South Staffordshire Line.

The doublet are working from Crewe to Brush in order for the 92 to receive some t.l.c.

Meanwhile, 2B42 sits at the High Level station, waiting to set off along the Cross-City line for Bromsgrove.

This is my first-time catching anything using the chord to head east, and thanks to a friendly Bobby, I didn't miss it. Sweet.

Photographed from a moving train with a high contrast filter to make the towers a bit more visible which also added to the drama.

- Bellinzona (Svizzera) 2010

This guy took me up on a conversation. He said he was a skinwalker and a sleeper cell agent, but that he wanted to tell as many people as he could that he was a sleeper cell agent so he would be deactivated. Sounds like the same thing I would do in that situation. I forgot his name, but it was like a fancy French or Spanish name you'd find in an Alexandre Dumas book. I later heard him tell another guy we met that he was a vampire, which made me think he was like me a few years ago, thinking up every possible bad thing about himself as a form of shadow work.

When I found out about the lunar eclipse coinciding with our trip to Greece, I started plotting. I wanted to capture the whole of the eclipse in one frame, from the very first to the very last. Then the skies where clouded over, and then I went back to bed, having given up altogether. When I then did get up for the very last, I tried to make the most of it. This triparte progression was not planned, it was the happy result of my first three test shots. Only yesterday, did I realise that maybe, just maybe, I could have a smaller version of what I had aimed for.

To offer some insight into the image I ended up with (see next photo to the right), I am posting this composite progression of images taken of the fountain. You can see how adjustments were made to the first photo (shot at 1/125) with camera movement, to the 3rd image shot at 1/6 second. The final image is simply a cropped version of the third image...

While I was never a big math fan when I was in school, for some reason I really got into geometry. I guess it was easy enough for me to understand, plus I could see the usefulness of the subject matter. But I digress. This detail shot of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame shows how all of the fundamental elements of geometry (circle, square and triangle) were made to come together to create a cohesive whole. The high contrast B+W helps to emphasize the the relative strength of these shapes, as well as showing the reflection of the clouds overhead. This crazy and iconic building is a testament to the sheer genius of architect I. M. Pei.

He is very cute and agile, around 2cm in body-length and will not stop for a moment. I wanted to capture him in this posture, the progression stage, but struggled a lot. Exactly when I wanted to release the shutter he would flatten his body. What, then ? Wait, wait and wait and finally got this !! I think I should try a video clipping next time because the movement of this kind of caterpillars are very interesting to watch !!

haven't done a selfie in ages so it was fun today.

a year and a half ago, i didn't even know what an SLR was, didn't know photoshop or anything to do with photography. i could just about take a decent shot on auto with my compact. i think a year and a half has seen me progress and develop quite a bit as a photographer. i think it helps that it has become a bit of an obsession.
