ICM, intentional camera movement, removes details not needed and simplifies the necessary elements. Color was distracting here so it went too. What's left are framing lines and patterns that contain the two walking figures. High contrast adds strength with good definition. Light reveals and hides in a wondrous way.

The Matryoshka Doll in Russian Culture. To non-Russians, the matryoshka, or nesting doll, is one of the most quintessential representations of traditional Russian peasant life. It appears to foreign eyes as a relic of quaint serf culture.
A series of images from the total lunar eclipse of August 28, 2007 that I have combined into one image. I didn't really plan to do this ahead of time, so the shots aren't spaced chronologically terribly well (gap in time is different between some of the shots). But this was a fun and fairly easy to do. We had a wonderfully clear night and I could see the moon straight from the window...didn't even have to go outside!

Macro Mondays theme: Monday, September 18th theme - then and now, before and after, yesterday and today...
Tried a few things for this theme after rumaging through my little box of memorabilia - ie "STUFF" - my biggest problem was to get into the "3-inch rule" limit. Had to use a ruler to make sure I cropped to the 3" limit.
This image has a my old iPhone, an older flash and something you may not recognize - a disposable Flash Cube. These compact little pieces were developed in the 1960's by Kodak for their Instamatic series of cameras and with an adapter you could actually use them on SLR's. I tried to include the adapter, but couldn't get it in because of the 3" rule.
Happy Macro Monday to all ...

The progression of Conrail’s power for high speed intermodal service is seen in this photo of train Mail-9.The newest power is represented by a pair of month-old B40-8’s, followed by one of the B36-7’s that had been purchased five years prior, and a pair of GP40/GP40-2’s, which were the principal power on TV trains dating back to NYC/PRR days. Here, Mail-9 rolls west into Bethlehem through an area known as Steel City. To local railfans, this location is known as Wilt’s curve, named for local photographer Bob Wilt (and his father Harry), who frequently shot at this location, and maintained the trees and brush to keep the shot open.
Ah, the things you see when walking home. :-)
This is the glass roof of Edinburgh's Waverley train station, illuminated (at a low angle) by The Sun in late evening, just over a week ago, photographed looking down on it (from North Bridge).
I think it rocks...do we have a seconder? ;-)

Just as in life the magic happens ever so often, all we need to do is be ready to capture that moment and ride the wave.
