There are pros and cons to having an active volcano in your back yard, as the people of the Pelileo Valley will attest. Because of Mt. Tungurahua which erupts on a fairly regular basis, the Pelileo Valley is a great agricultural area with incredibly rich volcanic soil. On the down side, there are times when the ash fall makes it a bit difficult to breath. I loved it when the volcano was erupting because it made the views so much more dramatic.
This is where professional photographers like to stay put, so says a local lady, who happened to guide us ammateur photographers here. But that's when autumn foliage sets in, I gather, since the cherry trees together with their blossoms greatly limits/bars your aim on visual perspective (ever-green vegetation on the back down the valley vs whitish blossoms on the front and in the middle)...
