"...nessa nossa estrada só terá belas praias e cachoeiras
aonde o vento é brisa, onde não haja quem possa
com a nossa felicidade
vamos brindar a vida, meu bem..."
Over the weekend, my old MacBook kept breaking down on me.
At the time it was a bit inconvenient but once Monday came, it was hugely frustrating - even though I'm well backed up.
The Apple Store were great and will replace the logic board for free - they only put a new one in a year ago...
But while I've got the money I decided to buy a new one. The old one won't last forever.
Ironically I bought it on the fourth anniversary of Steve Jobs' death...
The Eucharistic Congress in Dublin during 1932 was a source of many images for different photographers - but this one is an up close and personal view of church dignitaries in procession! The varied garb of the bishops is interesting, with the lay person in his grand uniform at the left of the shot. I especially love the boy scouts with the "smoky bear" hats, and their hiking poles marking the line at the side of the street!
Today's comments have helped us map the image (to just outside the Pro-Cathedral on Marlborough Street), and to update the date (to very likely c.22 June 1932). Bernard Healy suggests that the subjects are 'Cardinals and their Suites', and that perhaps the central figure in the first "row" we see is Cardinal Dougherty of Philadelphia. (See comments for suggestions on others pictured)....
