CSX Q409 heads south on the Charleston Subdivision for Waycross via Savannah as it passes the Amtrak station for North Charleston on the former Atlantic Coast Line’s “A Line.” Powering the train on this day is the “Hardin Triplets,” CSX’s Spirit engines which honor the armed forces (the 1776; leading), law enforcement (3194; trailing), & first responders (911; mid-train DPU). These engines were the talk of the week after surprisingly being brought out of a year & a half long period of sitting in storage in Waycross after being tagged for “Special Events Only” a week earlier when they were surprisingly assigned to take Q410 north to Selkirk, NY. Not knowing how long they would stay in service with rumors going around that this run was just to make sure that they were mechanically good before going back into storage, I made sure to get out & get them while I could when they came back south a week later on 410’s counterpart. 2-21-21
I got an email in the week telling me that as Gay Pride was on in London and that in support of this, the London Eye would be changing their lights to multicoloured.
Well, I adore anything that is multicoloured so this struck me as being worth a trip.
I opted to drive down because I was told there was major works to the underground and most of the lines were going to be not running. Plus I didn't relish the idea of taking the camera bag and tripod on the tube, however it was not pleasant to drive through that many people.
It was quite an eventful evening, incorporating being chatted up several times, getting hopelessly lost, having a row with a lovely German gentleman who seemed to think that the 6 inches in front of my lens was the only place on the whole of the embankment where he could stand to take the shot. Having a reportoire of German swearwords can sometimes be useful (Thank you Mr DeBacca)
The actual shot was impossible to take too, the lights on the eye move round in a continuous circle, rather than being fixed taking 2 seconds to make an entire revolution, the problem being that in the dark, in order to freeze the movement of these lights meant shooting with an exposure time of no longer than 1 second! or as we know... rainbows when blended together make a single white light. So i had to use an aperture of f4 and an iso rating of 2500!!!!! (thank god for Nikon) which meant the image was very noisy. On top of this, there were two sections of the wheel where the lighting didn't seem to work so I was not able to shoot the whole thing as it looked a bit odd.
The reflections in the water too were quite hypnotic.

This is my first year celebrating my asexuality (pan) for pride. I've never really felt the need to express it before because, for many years, I felt like it was something that didn't really mean much. The past year I have been diving into the ace community and advocacy, awareness and discussion around people like me. I realized that I felt like my asexuality just wasn't enough to make me a part of pride but aces were at stonewall, aces are considered weird, aces are forced into conversion therapy and experience sexual violence because of who they are. My story is the story of others like me and some of those stories are familiar with many members in the LGBTQ+ community, we share that. So I feel proud of myself this year, for the first time, and want to put respect on all of the Black Trans Women who fought for all of us to have this month to feel pride. Thank you to those courageous Black Women who led the Stonewall protests, thank you to everyone who fought all of the horrors and faced loss, heartbreak and lost their lives for me to be able to say 'I'm proud'. Thank you to those who keep fighting and know I will be there to stand beside you. Love is love. And if you get a moment, please go and visit Pride at Home; a gorgeous sim that is dedicated to the rich history of the LGBTQ+ community. Be good people.

Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 diesel mechanical 'Pride of Gwent' (works No.D1186 built in 1959) at Gwent Coal, Newport Coal Distribution Depot on 20th April 1990. The new A48 road is under construction with the Newport transporter bridge looming on the horizon, spanning the River Usk. It is a Grade 1 Listed Structure and its historical importance stems from its very unusual design. There are only two others like it in the UK and seven in the World. It is owned and run by Newport City Council and celebrated its centenary in September 2006. The Hudswell Clarke diesel, originally a member of the Manchester Ship Canal Railway diesel fleet, (D1 'Ashdown'), is now in the Andrew Briddon Collection at Darley Dale, while the coal depot no longer exists.

I’ve have an odd opinion about pride. What gets me is that most things people are proud of things beyond their choosing. Race, gender (in its myriad forms) and sexuality all seem to fall into this category. Don’t get me wrong, the sociological effects of seeing others like yourself achieving great things is great, especially in the face of obstacles...I’m sorry, I’m rambling! Here I am in front of the Pacific Center for Human Growth. Proud of my ability to represent whatever communities I may be in in a positive manner!

In honor of June being Pride month, I'm going to be posting pictures of my various queer babies. First on the list is Odette, who is pansexual.

Pride/Hubris (Latin, superbia)
Vanitas with her mirror. Painting by Titian, c. 1515
Main articles: Pride (vanity, narcissism), Hubris
In almost every list Pride is considered the original or most serious sin, and the ultimate source of all other sins. It is identified as a desire to be more important or attractive to others, failing to give credit due to others, or excessive love of self (especially holding self out of proper position toward God). Dante's definition was "love of self perverted to hatred and contempt for one's neighbour." In Jacob Bidermann's medieval miracle play, Cenodoxus, Pride is the deadliest of all the sins and leads directly to the damnation of the famed Doctor of Paris, Cenodoxus. Pride was what sparked the fall of Lucifer from Heaven, and his subsequent transformation into Satan. Vanity and Narcissism are good examples of these sins, though both imply a more empty feeling of Pride, with little to back it up. In the Divine Comedy, the penitent were forced to walk with their heads bowed while they were whipped in order to induce feelings of humility.

Ivanna steps into Pride season with fierce confidence and unapologetic flair in this bold, joyful look. Set against the vibrant backdrop of a rainbow-striped trolley that proudly spells out PRIDE, she embodies the essence of celebration, visibility, and self-love. Her black tank reads “Let Me Be Perfectly Queer,” featuring a radiant rainbow graphic, perfectly setting the tone for both empowerment and pride. Paired with rainbow-accented booty shorts that echo her message of inclusivity—“You. Me. One Love.”—Ivanna makes a powerful, unified statement.
She completes the look with sky-high rainbow platform sneakers and carries a small rainbow flag with pride and grace, reminding us that style can be fun and fearless. Her soft peachy-pink updo adds a playful contrast to her outfit's loud, proud colors, while her confident stance says it all: Pride is not just a parade—it’s a declaration. This look is not only festive and fashionable, but also a visual tribute to equality, love, and the freedom to be exactly who you are.

Spending an hour or so at Trafalgar Square before heading off for a pub crawl for my birthday.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pride_in_London
Pride in London is an annual LGBT pride festival and pride parade held each summer in London, England. The event, which was formerly run by Pride London, is sometimes referred to as London Pride.
Pride in London celebrates the diversity of the LGBTQ communities with the colourful Pride in London Parade, as well as free festivity events that take place in Trafalgar Square. This event brings together people of all genders, ethnicities, sexualities, and races.
One of the longest running pride festivals in the country and the largest, Pride in London boasts an estimated 30,000 participants and attracts an estimated 1.5 million visitors.[The festival's events and location within London vary every year however the parade is the only annual event to close London's iconic Oxford Street.
Dad's camellia is his pride and joy. However about six years ago we nearly lost it. Under instructions from dad I gave this beautiful shrub a hard prune. It was huge and dad feared the branches may break under heavy snow. Every branch I cut hard back. What a mistake! The next year all leaf and no flower. I checked the garden books, which I should have done before the prune, only to read that camellias can take years to recover from pruning and refuse to flower. We were both distraught. My mother had loved this shrub. The following year no flowers. The third year we were in despair when we noticed one or two buds! The next year more buds and this year it has been at its best. What a relief!
