Free soloing is the most dangerous form of rock climbing where free soloists climb above 'safe' heights where a fall would almost certainly be fatal. They climb without ropes or other protective equipment, using only their special climbing shoes and bag of climbing chalk to help maintain friction of their hands with the rock.

Inspired by watching the sport climbing at the Olympics, Brian attempts his first free solo. This image shows him successfully negotiating the serious crux pitch, his climbing partner looking on anxiously. Of course, snails have no need of chalk, making use of their natural sticky slime to keep them as safe as possible.

At the end of the afternoon, checking on a plant at the far end of my garden where the Kentia Palm Tree grows, I noticed two Orange Palm Dart Butterflies, sitting pretty on a new and an old palm. This is the new one. It is possible that both Butterflies were born there, since "The host plants for the Orange Palm Dart Butterfly, Cephrenes augiades, are palm trees with broad-leaf pinnae, such as the Kentia Palm (Howea forsteriana)" and these are the Butterflies that I see the most in my garden /

Out yesterday morning, Aug 27th 2015, and came across 6 Grey Seals bobbing around in the water off Backman Road, Bayswater. One seal was laying back and had a big yawn showing his teeth. They look pretty cute from a distance, but don't be fooled they can be pretty vicious if you get too close.

For the photograph: It was pretty foggy so I got down over the rocks to the shoreline to get as close as possible. Using lightroom to process the photo I used the white, black and contrast sliders under the basic panel to minimize the haze of the fog. I also used a radial filter and the brush to slightly highlight the seal in the ocean.

A blast from the past.

Back in 2019 many of us chased the WNYP as much as possible as the Big M636s were running out their last miles in Western PA. The new GE's would show up in early fall and scenes like this soon became a memory. That said, ZK and I were on location to capture Maddog Mike as he brings his train to the NS property line at Drift.

Fastforward to the present, it doesn't even look like the WNYP will be running down to Driftwood at all in the near future. But oh well, 5 of the Bigs have since shown up in Scranton where their future is definitely much brighter.

Collection: The poetry of invisible movements: It is inevitable, points of conflict, lines of organization and insurrection, invisibility. Time passes... over. A look, a step, a gesture, the lines of the city or any detail, completed by the look, creating a poetics in the movements that only exist in the encounter between bodies, photographer, place, people photographed and who sees the photo, and this can generate a power of presence, a static dance.

Even though I live only 10 miles from Scotland, last weekend was the first time I'd ventured across the border since the Coronavirus restrictions were introduced in March of last year.

I managed to capture the amazing A1 Locomotive of 60163 Tornado hauling the Northern Belle railtour along the West Coast Main Line, which was an added bonus as originally this leg of the railway journey was supposed to be diesel hauled until Carlisle, then picked up by 6201 Princess Elizabeth locomotive. However, after this engine recently suffered a fault with it's boiler, Tornado has been replacing it on all excursions where possible and, since it is was nearby anyway, it was able to haul this leg of the journey from Glasgow too.

I hadn't photographed along this stretch of railway before so I wasn't sure of what the viewpoints would be like, but looking at the map I thought this section looked promising and luckily it was - providing a wonderful moody backdrop with Tewsgill Hill beyond.

Seen in the parking lot of where I teach. I had my Canon PowerShot camera with me. I’ve decided to try to carry it or another one of my point and shoot cameras with me as much as possible. There’s been so many times I wish I would’ve had a camera on me to photograph a scene or a moment…

We spoke to a ranger about this hike--from the Dempster Highway to Grizzly Lake, over Glissade Pass to Divide Lake, on to Talus Lake, and then back--before we started. He described the route over Glissade Pass, explaining, "You'll look down and say, 'that can't be possible,' but you just keep going." And that's exactly what we did say, and do, glissading down snowfields and scree. On the way back up the pass, by this point good and tired, we found ourselves sinking deep into the snow and scree, and experiencing the demoralization of actually sliding backwards after great effort. Since this photo is six years old, I won't try to build the suspense; after a lot of effort, we made it back to the tent:) Mrs. Orca making the arduous way from Divide to Grizzly lake over Glissade Pass, Tombstone Territorial Park, Yukon Territory, Canada.

Using a Rainbow colored umbrella as an artistic prop for my photo.

This boat is a "must" to be photographied if you go for a Sunrise at Delta de l'Ebre. Usually the water is very calm because it's located in a closed bay, and the colours of the sunrise (specially in winter) are amazing.

The photo has just some basic contrast/saturation and light tones adjustments. The photo has been taken with a big stopper and a 1.2 ND filter.

The ship was built from 1906 to 1908 at the Thyen shipyard in Brake an der Weser as a three-mast schooner with emergency sails and put into service in 1908 as a lightship Außeneneider. It lay with interruptions until 1944 on the position Außeneider before the mouth of the Eider into the North Sea, in the years 1914 to 1916 on position Süderpiep. In 1918/19 it was involved in military operations in the Baltic Sea. In 1931 an engine was installed. From 1945 to 1948 it was used as a guard ship on the forced mine route P 11-P 15 in the German Bight. 1949 to 1953 it was a replacement lightship for the position Amrumbank (P 15). 1954 and 1956 it came to different changes. The beacon has been amplified, a radio beacon has been retrofitted. In the years from 1956 to 1965 it was used as reserve Holtenau (reserve lightship) on the positions Flensburg, Kiel and Fehmarnbelt, 1961 short time on Elbe 1 and then from 1965 to 1984 under its today's name on position in the Fehmarnbelt. On 31 March 1984 it was the last German lightship to be decommissioned on the Baltic Sea; the position was taken over by an unmanned large buoy.

In the same year, the ship served as Hatteras'; film ship for the shooting of the US feature film The Lightship (based on the story The Lightship by Siegfried Lenz) on Sylt. It has been a museum ship since 1986.

Today, the ship belongs to the non-profit association Feuerschiff für Lübeck e. V. and has been moored at Behnkai in the Hanseatic city of Lübeck in front of the Media Docks on the northern Wallhalbinsel since autumn 2009. It is kept in running order and since 1989 has made trips in the summer to test all the facilities under sea conditions; it is also possible to visit them on board.

first photo of the irish set, more to come!!! this was a fantastic trip with stuning landscapes... and lights!

One of my primary goals when I shoot these birds to to try and shoot them as low as possible, as if I were another skimmer looking in. Of course I'm quite a distance from them so it's not obtrusive. Here my camera was resting right on the sand. Hopefully it creates a more intimate and relatable image.

Replica of the ship that between 1519-1522 made the First Around the World, the greatest maritime feat of all time. For the first time in history, a ship, which leaves and returns from the port of Seville captained by Juan Sebastián Elcano, managed to circle the planet.

Built in Spain in 1991, to trace the shapes and define the characteristics of the ship, a long process of historical research was followed, led by Ignacio Fernández Vial, its designer and builder. An exhaustive study based on documentary sources, chronicles, nautical treatises from the 16th century, and iconography of the time, which made it possible to specify its main dimensions, rigging, sails and equipment.

In 2004 to commemorate the first voyage around the world and spread the discovery work of the Spanish sailors, this replica of the Nao Victoria once again undertakes a trip around the globe from Seville. During the years 2004 to 2006 26,894 miles were sailed and 17 countries were visited, being the first historical replica to circumnavigate the earth.

It's possible to go on, no matter how impossible it seems.

The CSX yardmaster got creative with the BB Mountain Local this day. The east yard lead was busy with other moves, so he ran them out main 1 to the west end of the yard at Low Moor and had them back in their delivery of cars. A not unheard of but rarely used move. This allowed the hand full of photographers a few bonus shots that would not have been possible. This was the first run to Clifton Forge for the BB leased WM painted engine. And if you squint, pretend those trailing BB motors are in Western Maryland's red and white "Circus Colors" paint scheme.

*Patagonia Series

Most of the pictures of this Series were taken from a large distance, because everything in Patagonia is huge and wide open. Sometimes it was not really easy to get closer and I had to zoom in as much as possible. I had a wide angle lens. Anyway, these are unforgettable memories.

Well, some people may question me how i take those interesting images?.....

I often reply them with a laugh, just my pure Luck!

No, Not really so effectively, it fundamentally fall into my basic photography instinct Plus the game of patient waiting.

Waiting for the right moment will stand you higher chance succeding if you are also patient enough to expect what u didn't expect to turn out as primarily we can never able to control their subtle mind, but the rewards of patient to wait for the right moment to strike would be fruitful after plugging out some great courages tries..

Candid street photography is definitely exciting and super challenging, people been suspicously shot would be intimidated by your move after they discover your intention.

However, don't be intimidated and quit if you kept really a distance away with them as they might express the moment of time correctly suitable for the next golden call shot of the day.

My little secret to share, when i spotted what interest me no matter the distance is too far away, i will first subtly hit few triggle trial shots quietly to test unawareness is possible, then i will advance quickly closer to my target and compose shot that well fits with another few shots all in silent mode and auto ISO. if the angle wasn't right i would quickly recompose decisively as too many rowdy movement may alarm your target quickly and thing you don't want start fall apart wrongly. The vital elements is see the correct light and shadow fall and follow the direction of lights to position one-selves to capture them with as many possible good shots as require

Take yourself for Moses, for a moment, and go through the water on foot or by bicycle. Incongruously, the experience is nevertheless possible, in Bokrijk, in Limburg. Inaugurated in April 2016, "Crossing the Water by bike" is a unique cycling experience that allows you to cover the distance of 212 meters through a pond in the Wijers reserve, in "the land of 1.001 ponds". From one bank to the other. In the middle of the course, the water is at eye level offering a magnificent and unique view of nature. Sometimes eye to eye with a swan or a duck. The funniest part is watching the heads of the cyclists pass over the surface of the water. Of course, the cycle path is also accessible to walkers and joggers.

Not only did the creation of this track boost the popularity of the Limburg cyclo industry, it also had a positive environmental impact on the De Wijers reserve. The quality of water in the region has improved. As the dikes have been opened, the ponds stay clean longer which is a good thing for the amphibian habitat, which has increased in number considerably. For its part, the growth of tourism has resulted in increased funding for nature conservation projects in the reserve.

For years I’ve wanted to capture the Aurora over Mt. Rainier, with a reflection while surrounded by snow. There’s a narrow window every year where this would even be possible. Factor in constant fall cloudiness and that window drops to just a few days per year.

An amazing amount of luck came together for this shot; a very rare completely clear fall night, a late arriving CME, a powerful CME, fresh snow, and just a sliver of water left to provide a small reflection. This may truly be a once in a lifetime shot.

The actual weather forecast says there will be snow possible. That reminds me one of the most beautiful sunrises I was able to whitness last winter. I think, and I hope, it will not be that bad at the weekend.

Iguacu Falls or Iquazu Falls- Brasil and Argentina

Hotel das Cataratas on the left side

From UNESCO:

Iguazu National Park

The semicircular waterfall at the heart of this site is some 80 m high and 2,700 m in diameter and is situated on a basaltic line spanning the border between Argentina and Brazil. Made up of many cascades producing vast sprays of water, it is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world. The surrounding subtropical rainforest has over 2,000 species of vascular plants and is home to the typical wildlife of the region: tapirs, giant anteaters, howler monkeys, ocelots, jaguars and caymans.

A quick upload from this mornings trip out to a new location. We were cursing our luck as the first time we have managed to get out for a while we were confronted with the worst thing possible, a clear blue sky! Fortunately a small bank of cloud wandered over us just in time.
