This is another shot from my backlog archives that was taken at the Gardens by the Bay. I am not sure what flower is this unfortunately. Was done with as few edits as possible to keep it close to its natural state. Stay safe and stay at home everyone!

Great Blue Heron
I believe it is an opportunity to be able to observe very closely these beautiful birds. This Heron was a gifted fisher, he would capture his fish, would get it ready to swallow, but would strangely leave it dead in the lake... If you enlarge the picture at the eye level, it is possible to see the interior eyelid, half pulled.
Thank you for visits, comments and faves, always greatly appreciated.
I'm very tired today, this week at work will be a mad one. Or maybe it's because I was so tensed lately due to the elections (no, I don't belong to any political party).
The weather report is that will be sunny on Wednesday, can't wait, I miss the sun so much.
I post this image here, a glimpse over a village where only old people live now.
I'm happy to live the day when my nation found the collective consciousness and our President, Mr. Klaus Iohannis, a very balanced man, a protestant in an Orthodox country, a taciturn in a world of scandal, declared "I receive this victory with modesty" ("modesty" was an almost forgotten word for years here).
The future looks a bit brighter.
Wish you all a great week, and I promise I'll be back to look and comment as soon as possible.
It's not always possible to shoot in beautiful morning or evening light. On such occasions lighting can get harsh.
One solution is to shoot high key images such as seen here. By overexposing multiple stops and doing some work in post-processing, one can get results like this from the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya.

In Furillen, you see all the SL photographers passing by.... I met Zigs Zags, and finally our long delayed decision to shoot a picture together came true.
I chose the place, Zigs made the poses , and there it is !
Under the magic tree, I seem to show him the place, way over yonder, where the dream of a better life seems possible...

I had the prompt of yellow for the Macro Monday group so I experimented with the yellow gel on my flash and a couple of yellow props. I decided to use one image for my 365 and the other for the Macrro Monday group.
Westbourne, Dorset Methodist Church now a Tesco Express Store
This is a first for me. I have never seen a church turned into a retail store. I have seen Antique shops, private dwellings but not a front line store.
Situated in Poole Road, Westbourne, BH4 9DW. It was constituted in 1887 and opened in 1899. It was a Wesleyan Chapel with an active congregation and had many social events. Although there is very little history but what we do know is that it closed in the early 2,000’s and in November 2009 it was sold.
The main body of the church became a Tesco Express, the Manse became the NFU Mutual whilst the church hall became a restaurant and children’s play area. It’s possible to see some of the original stained glass, although some are hidden behind tins of beans and other products.
Talk about ‘casting out the money lenders’. It’s just very unusual.
Was beginning to fill, by the fall it will be a mudflat as the lake drains through sinkholes and the water reappears 16 km downstream.
Thinking of Jasper as last night two encroaching wildfires caused the evacuation of the townsite and the entire park, read up to 25,000 people had to leave as quickly as possible with only the highway west into British Columbia open. Such a horrible, heartbreaking situation.
“So, what are you worried about, Sky?” Asked Barnaby as the bears gathered around for the man to take their photograph.
“Quite a lot, Barnaby. Honey supplies for a start.”
“Honey supplies, Sky? What is the problem?” Asked Bertie also looking concerned.
“It all comes down to the man. He is trying different places where he gets his food from using the complonker. He uses new digits to order and while I have watched and think I have the new ones I was not sure.”
“Sky, the man had the usual van deliver his things last week, I saw it there and was waiting for our stuff but it did not come.” Said Posh Bear.
“No, it is all getting confusing. The man seems to be ordering from both the new one and the old one, which makes it difficult for me to know which one to add our things to. Anyway, I think the man is going bonkers.” Said Sky.
“I quite agree, Sky, but then we have always thought that.” Said Bertie smiling.
“No, I mean totally bonkers, Bertie. When the man had a friend around here recently, I noticed that they were both talking to a green growing plant his has. He has even given it a name and was calling it Vera and he was saying hello to it. It didn’t answer, and his friend even tried but the plant ignored them.”
“Are you sure, Sky?” Asked Posh Bear looking worried.
“Yes, they both kept on saying hello Vera to this plant. Is that weird or what? Then he starts ordering his things from two suppliers.”
“That is very strange behaviour, Sky, I agree. I wonder why he called it Vera? Why not Sky, Bertie, Theo, or Posh, like we are called? Why give the green thing that grows a name at all? All very strange, but not that important to us bears. Now, the possible lack of honey, well that is different.” Said Posh Bear.
“Luckily Posh, we have a genius at the helm of ordering, and I have taken measures to make certain that we still can order from now on.”
“Sky is such a genius.” Said Barnaby looking in admiration at his friend.
“I know, Barnaby, but as I was saying.” Said Sky
“So modest with it too.” Chimed in Bertie giggling.
“As I was saying, I am now ordering from both suppliers, however, there is a slight problem in that if they both supply, we may have a little more than normal.”
“You say a little more, Sky, roughly how much more?” Asked Posh Bear.
“Well, just in case one supplier did not send us what we ordered, I added extra to both orders. Well, I think I did for I was never much good at numbers, so, well I think we had better make extra room to store what comes.”
“So, is it fair to say that you do not know what you ordered then, Sky?” Asked Bertie.
“Well, I am not totally sure, Bertie, but if you need to know I am sure that Vera would know for she was looking at the screen as I did the ordering. So, do you speak green growing thingy, Bertie?”
“Time will tell, Bertie, we will soon find out.” Said Posh Bear smiling.

I took this shot of Gibson Mill to see how it turned out with the 35 mm lens. I would have liked to get further away so as to include more of the reflections in the image, but that wasn’t possible because of a drop into the river behind me.
Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.

Its not easy to outflank a Zeiss T* coating, but due to the stand of the sun here, it was possible.

[Chorus]
When your dreams come alive you're unstoppable
Take the shot, chase the sun, find the beautiful
We will glow in the dark turning dust to gold
And we'll dream it possible
Left for the pond a couple of hours ago. A bit windy, but a comfortable 76°. I saw this one damselfly, and only one. I can't be sure because I got this one close up, and have nothing to compare it to (and I'm out of practice after the smoky season shutdown). It's a bluet, and that's as far as I'm willing to go. Meanwhile, after an hour. it was getting warmer, and I decided to head home. It was 101° when I "hit" the front door. Just made it.
Pulhapanzak waterfall, Honduras, taken under very challenging light and with water drops falling on the lens every now and then, best to visit in cloudy weather, but there won't be a rainbow in that case, anyway I visited on a weekday and had the whole place to myself, easily accessible by car though the road is a dusty pothole ridden mess for the last part.
Happy weekend to everyone.
Limodorum abortivum (Orchidaceae) 116 25
Limodorum abortivum was first described by Swartz from Fontainebleu (France) in 1753 and its name refers to the the small size of the leaves and the manner in which they sheath the stem. Abortivum literally means aborted leaves.
This is a curious orchid that still requires study in order to determine its precise biology. Although widely regarded as a wholly saprophytic plant, there are indications that it may (at least in part) be parasitic. Two factors in particular serve to confuse the issue and these are firstly the fact that the stem has been shown to contain measurable levels of chlorophyll and secondly that the plant depends throughout its existence on mycorrhizal fungus. Limodorum abortivum needs little description as it is highly distinctive and impossible to confuse with any other type of orchid.
This is a widespread species with a distribution from Belgium in the north, North Africa in the south and at least as far as Russia in the east. It does not occur in Britain and reaches the height of it's abundance in the southern Mediterranean where it is predominantly found on calcareous soils and usually associated with pine forest. This close proximity to living pine trees is another link with possible parasitism but as already mentioned, the physiology is not yet fully understood.

For several years now I have been out in nature to observe the small, beautiful kingfisher and, if possible, to photograph him. I need a lot of patience because the magnificent blue shimmering bird is extremely small and clever. So I tried countless times to get as close to it as possible, but mostly failed. Last year the winter was so cold that the snow stayed on the trees for longer, which created the best conditions for capturing the beautiful blue of the delicate bird with my camera. After many ice-cold mornings spent outside, I finally managed to photograph the kingfisher where I think it looks most beautiful, on a snow-covered tree. After this considerable effort, I was so grateful to have encountered the most colorful and beautiful bird in my area in its kingdom.
I hope you like this picture with my personal favorite bird. If you consider that there are still about 500 pairs of kingfishers in the whole of Switzerland, then I must be more than happy to have encountered one out there in the beautiful nature of my homeland.

Out yesterday morning, Aug 27th 2015, and came across 6 Grey Seals bobbing around in the water off Backman Road, Bayswater. One seal was laying back and had a big yawn showing his teeth. They look pretty cute from a distance, but don't be fooled they can be pretty vicious if you get too close.
For the photograph: It was pretty foggy so I got down over the rocks to the shoreline to get as close as possible. Using lightroom to process the photo I used the white, black and contrast sliders under the basic panel to minimize the haze of the fog. I also used a radial filter and the brush to slightly highlight the seal in the ocean.

Possible source for the original sword in the stone story...the noble knight Galgano Guidotti renounced his warlike calling and wealth and resolved to live the life of poverty and prayer in the wilderness. I has been said that he had no Crucifix for his devotions so he thrust his sword in to the rock as a cross. Collection: The poetry of invisible movements: It is inevitable, points of conflict, lines of organization and insurrection, invisibility. Time passes... over. A look, a step, a gesture, the lines of the city or any detail, completed by the look, creating a poetics in the movements that only exist in the encounter between bodies, photographer, place, people photographed and who sees the photo, and this can generate a power of presence, a static dance.

Beaver River Falls is located in Beaver Bay, a few hundred yards before the Beaver River enters Lake Superior, just upstream of the bridge on Highway 61. The falls are visible as you drive by, especially if you are heading south. There is a parking area on the south west side of the bridge. The easiest and quickest way to get a view of the falls is from the pedestrian walk way on the bridge, but it is possible to get down into the gorge for a closer view.
