Positively the last image from this set taken back in November, this one hung around as the colours always seemed wrong but still, what an amazing light show it was. Taken in Hillock Wood, Buckinghamshire, one misty lunchtime, this one following a tiny trail through the conifers as the low winter sun does its best to lift the mist.

It seems positively unnatural to travel for pleasure without taking a camera along
Susan Sontag On Photography
Well, pitifully, it wasn't a pleasure trip. I've removed quite a few people from the scene, something I don't usually do. There's some bad giveaways I left in a hurry, haste makes waste he he... Comment on it if you happen to spot them and have some fun, they're pretty obvious!

Parece concluyente que resulta antinatural viajar por placer sin llevar una cámara
Susan Sontag On Photography
Bueno, lamentablemente no era un viaje de placer. He quitado de enmedio bastante gente, algo que normalmente no hago. Hay unos rastros que he dejado por las prisas je je, podéis comentar si los véis y así os divertis un rato, son bastante obvios!
Love keeps us going forward positively, hate sends us back to nowhere!!! We are all humans we all make mistakes, we all do wonderful things, so why don't we come together and concentrate on the good, not the bad! There is so much good in this world we just have to look for it, find it and share it! ❤️❤️
Positively creepy, eerie would guess things go bump in the night. Permanently closed down now and falling apart this is a very interesting old hotel in Port Costa CA Most bay area people are not aware of this small old town exists. It has very colorful history from way back when. This hotel is reported to have been a ho house but I have yet to find proof. It is however top of the creepy interesting odd list.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️
O.K. folks positively the last of this shake, rattle and roll series, just wish I knew how to do video, that will be my next project, but in the mean time, have a great weekend, stay safe, and thank you as always for visiting.
Yesterdays photo taken at Botallack depicts the turbulent Atlantic Ocean positively battering the cliffs whereas in this capture it appears like milk spilling from a jug lol... I got far more pleasure when capturing this LE at Mother Iveys Bay though, because it was taken between lockdowns and although plenty of people on beaches a mile or so distant -because the local holiday camp of the same name we closed we had the beach to ourselves. I could relax whilst Jonathan threw a ball the opposite way to where i was taking photos which meant no paw prints in the sand and so got many different wave patterns as they broke on the beach. This was the only one that looked like this though....
The bay takes its name from the legend of Mother Ivy who was a local white witch who cursed a local family. It lies just around the coast from Harlyn Bay where you’ll find car parking and facilities (20 mins). Cushioned from the wind by the Merope Rocks, Mother Ivey’s Bay lies in a sheltered location framed by stunning coastal scenery where the soft sandy beach is ideal for both summer sandcastles and romantic winter walks.

Professor Pangloss thinks, as you may know, that ultimately this world is the best world possible. Even Covid, he says, disruptive as it is now, may at the end of the day have some positive sides. Humanity will come out of this as a leaner body, renewed, strengthened and even more capable of survival. The many companies that will go bust will provide the food for new economic ventures that are more robust. International cooperation on Covid and Climate will be seen as normal. Like Aphrodite on her shell, a new civilisation will emerge from the disasters of today. Hmm. Let me think about this.

we were so positively excited when we travelled to Istanbul...
so let me tell my feelings with the song from Bruce Springsteen:
The sky was falling and streaked with blood
I heard you calling me, then you disappeared into the dust
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
I need your kiss, but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs, into the fire
May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love
May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love bring us love
You gave your love to see, in fields of red and autumn brown
You gave your love to me and lay your young body down
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
I need you near, but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs, into the fire
May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love
May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love bring us love
May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love bring us love
It was dark, too dark to see, you held me in the light you gave
You lay your hand on me
Then walked into the darkness of your smoky grave
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
I need your kiss, but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs, into the fire
May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love bring us love...
May your love bring us love

The day we moved to base camp three was always going to be a bit of an adventure. Now I look back at the notes, which confirm how long the journey was, especially in a land where the speed limits are positively pedestrian. From the Efra Sel Hostel at Fludir in the Golden Circle, we'd be driving 439km, or for five and a half hours as Google Maps informed me, eventually reaching the loneliest outpost of the trip at Stafafell Cottages, roughly halfway between the highlights on the road from Vestrahorn to Eystrahorn. Once we'd thrown in a lunch stop at Vik and decided upon which of the many interim attractions we'd visit along the way, an extra three hours or more would be added to the long day of driving ahead. We even pulled very briefly into a rammed car park at Skogafoss, just for a recce rather than anything more immersive at this stage. Here we were greeted by a rainbow that spread itself across the base of the waterfall, much as the one at Haifoss had done the day before. But unlike the far more remote Haifoss, the space was full of people, so much so that we didn't even take the cameras out of the packs. I don't think I even bothered with a phone snap.
Driving from west to east along the south coast of Iceland is an experience you're unlikely to forget, especially on a clear day when the landscape opens up ahead of you in full glorious technicolour. The further you proceed, the more magnificent it seems to become as on the left hand side mountains emerge from the horizon to greet you, ever more foreboding as you go. On this clear sunny day, we were only a few minutes out of Vik before the Vatnajokull glacier, which covers eight percent of the entire surface of Iceland rose to beckon us across the plains ahead, where it sat for the better part of two hours as we slowly reeled it in towards us. As we made the final approach, the long icy fingers of Skaftafell and Svinafellsjokull reached down towards the ground from their peaks to say hello, inviting us to stop at the latter, a decision mainly driven by the fact that we didn't have to pay to park there.
Back on the road, resisting the temptation to stop as the tell-tale single span suspension bridge announced we were passing the glacier lagoon at Jokulsarlon, we pressed on, fully in the knowledge that the chances of a sunset shoot were rapidly diminishing. It was a situation made ever more frustrating by the arrival of what might have been the most appealing golden hour we'd had so far. The last hour brought soft warm tones to the front lit mountains ahead, by which time we knew the only opportunity we'd get that evening was to head straight down the track to Batman's lair.
I'd only discovered the existence of Brunnhorn after booking our accommodation, so I was delighted to see that a lesser known highlight of the region was quite literally just across the road from our home for the next four nights. At this moment I'm going to allow you to pause for a period of up to seven nanoseconds while you attempt to deduce for yourself why it's commonly know as "Batman Mountain." Got it? We'll move on then. As you can see, by the time we finally got to our spot, we had moved convincingly into the depths of the blue hour, and although we still weren't quite over the disappointment of not having arrived even fifteen minutes earlier, there was still a shot waiting to be stolen from the approaching night. In the stillness of the evening, a long exposure delivered the reflections and soft peachy tones of the horizon that made the moment one worth recording.
In retrospect, I'm now quite content that we didn't arrive here with enough time to go elsewhere. We'd have probably pushed on to Eystrahorn, where we spent the following afternoon and evening with a degree of success. Although we came back here a couple of times as an aperitif to the main events at either Eystrahorn or Vestrahorn that would follow, I'm not so sure we'd have dedicated an entire evening shoot to it. So, in this way, Batman had his moment in the spotlight, bathed in blue reflections before the dusk vanished into darkness. After all, there's always a positive to be found when you reflect on things later.

Heavily damaged sprocket holes on 16mm film. (In case you are curious, this is a black-and-white version of the first Woody Woodpecker short.) The entire title sequence had sprocket damage like this; it just won't run through a projector without, depending on the projector, risking more damage.
This will absolutely and positively be the last of my wood duck post for a long while. I just found this image in a bunch of second culls, and I like it. I had a great time photographing the "Wood Ducks of the Wissahickon" in late winter. They are breeding now at this location and you can no longer get the same shots as in early March. I plan to go back in May to photograph the chicks. I am also thinking about a coffee table book about my time with these ducks. View large for rainbow colors ~!

#SewingNotions
If there's one thing I positively hate about sewing, it's seam ripping. Here's this nice, super secure triple stretch stitch, just finished, and I realise I made a mistake. Sigh. And it's once again time for the grand entrance of the seam ripper...
I bought this for the theme (and for the seam?) because I couldn't find my old trusted (and way too often used) seam ripper. Freud would know why... The new seam ripper is a pretty thing with an ergonomic, transparent purple handle that won the Red Dot Design Award. Maybe using such a nice tool will make me like seam ripping. I doubt it but who knows...
This was also one of the rare occasions where I knew at once what I wanted to do for the theme and how, and – more importantly – where I could actually yield a result almost exactly the way I had envisioned it. To get both the tiny red ball and the tip in focus I had to do focus bracketing (45 images, combined in Helicon Focus).
Btw, do you know what the red ball is for? I only learned it now when doing some research on seam rippers for the theme, realising I have been doing it wrong my entire life. The red ball is supposed to go under the seam. This way, it prevents the fabric from getting damaged and you can smoothly glide the seam ripper through as the seam ripper's edge cuts the seam but not the fabric. Another sigh ;)
I'll catch up with you later!

Ready for sleep, the sidewalks emptied, the doors closed and locked. Reds are everywhere, on the doors, in the bricks, even a hint in the sky. Villages need sleep too, just like the store owners, the birds perched on the gutters, and the mice that hide the drains.

The Scene
A three image composite - images of which, none were photographed by yours truly. Being that none of the original photographers of these pictures could be positively identified, I am unable to provide individual accreditation or “ownership”. If anyone recognizes or identifies the “owner or owners” of any of the images contained herein, please advise this artist.
• The background (from the line of the road and up) is one of the composite images. From the best that I have determined, the yellow ochre Tudor style house on the left was once the home of Charles Cheney, one of the Cheney Brothers who together operated the Cheney Brothers Silk Company.
Note: In that I wanted a expansive foreground for the composition, I found the Charles Cheney house at 79 Hartford Road in Manchester, Connecticut to be an ideal choice. The broad sweep of the Great Lawn looks much the same as during the heyday of the Cheney silk business (about 1860 to 1930). The Cheney family opened the lawn to the public, who came to pick dandelions for cooked greens; to find worms for use as fish-bait; and in winter to ski, sled, and toboggan. Beginning in 1942, the mansions on the Great Lawn were sold to non-Cheney families; and today none are owned by either the Cheneys or their descendants.
• The boy dragging the fir (or whatever type of tree) up the yard, across the snow is another element of this artwork.
• The striking red Duesenberg and the foreground is yet another element of this composite.
The Car
1932 Duesenberg Model J Phaeton, SJ-463/2480
Formerly part of Al Wiseman's renowned collection, this 1932 Duesenberg Model J, chassis number 2480, engine number J-463, has a remarkably interesting history. A long-wheelbase car, J-463/2480 stretches some 153.5-inches and boasts a highly desirable and elegant dual cowl phaeton bodywork crafted in the style of LeGrande and finished in closely-matched, duo-tone Red with Beige top and interior. Spicing up the allure and history of J-463/2480, and often a common practice with cars such as Duesenberg, J-463/2480 began life with a formal limousine body by Rollston of New York, which was later removed in favor of body number 1946 from J-389/2415, a sportier, long-wheelbase convertible Berline body by Dietrich, Inc. of Detroit. Unfortunately, in 1946, a garage fire destroyed the Dietrich body, leaving only the chassis of J-463/2480 to survive for many years.
The graceful and popular LeGrande-style body was fitted prior to 1985, likely sometime during the 1970’s. It’s thought that during this time also the engine was upgraded with a proper SJ centrifugal supercharger. First offered by Duesenberg in 1932, the supercharger took the massive 420 CI 32 valve DOHC straight eight engine from 265 horsepower to 320 horsepower, and turned a Model, J into the formidable SJ model. At the time, there were very few vehicles on the road able to match the robustness, speed, power, and overall quality of a Duesenberg. Today, Duesenbergs are capable of cruising at highway speeds, and represent an absolute pinnacle in automotive engineering and styling. Sadly, the stock market crash of 1929 took a major toll on manufacturers such as Duesenberg, which closed forever in 1937 having produced just 481 units of automotive art.

btw - We are getting our first snowfall for the season as this image is being uploading. Large puffy flakes of gently falling snow with little or no wind and the temperature is moderate for this time of year. A real "Hallmark Christmas" scene outside my window........... * Update: Turned into a real mess of a snowstorm. It's now 6:15pm and been snowing since about 6 a.m. Now they are predicting the temps are going to fall, turning this wet snow into an treacherous icy mess by tomorrow morning.......... bah, humbug!
Blessings to all my flickr friends around the world, “Peace, Good Health and Harmony”.
