The Green River Gorge is home to some neat trails.

Forest Park, Portland, OR

A foggy morning in the forest. I miss my morning walks.

Captured at Snug Harbor on San Juan Island, Washington.

I decided to try my luck with capturing a sunrise at Rowena Crest along the Oregon side of the Columbia River. I was feeling optimistic despite the weather calling for mid-30's temperatures, 30+ mph winds, and rain. I was starting to lose hope when finally the clouds started to break up allowing some warm light to make its way through.

Under the waterfall of my previous post, check it out!

Former Q SD24s power a train on BN rails through a rock cut somewhere in the PNW.... or rather a cut on the Maryland Midland, near Thurmont MD on April 2nd 1984! The brutish SDs infamously had short careers on the former Western Maryland start-up, but look quite at home here. Kenneth Lehman photo, JL Sessa collection.

Sighted in McNary National Wildlife Refuge

They keep getting better and better!

At this time of year in the Pacific Northwest the sun sets far south of this view. But this scene, over mountains in the Olympic National Forest, really caught my eye.

Cropped and tuned up 20JUL25.

This is the last shot from the morning with my new friend the coyote (found out there were two actually). I liked the fog on the foreground and the mountain in the distance. You all are probably sick of sunrises by now, but the next few photos are not going to be sunrises anymore! (Yay).

Enjoy :)

Mt. Hood catches the last of the day's light. As seen from Columbia Hills State Park. Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

The U.S. Coast Guard was running exercises on Chambers Bay while fisher folks tried for ling cod on the reef and golfers golfed on the greens.

The gray boat speeding through the fishing boats (far left) towards the protected ferry was the "bad guy". As he approached the group the orange boat closest to him swerved to face him, they ran directly at each other and shots were fired. A very exciting sideshow for my hike!

While in search of autumn in the PNW I drove through this tunnel. It had some very nice yellow trees next to it and that’s about as autumn as it gets.

Watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean in the Pacific Northwest.

EVELVJ storms through Titlow beach under the Tacoma Narrows Bridge on a hot September afternoon.

I've only rarely seen it when the sun is set up perfectly to create this neat optical effect. With the strongly backlit fog rolling off the top of the sea stack, the sun acted like a movie projector bulb by projecting an image of the trees onto the fog. Be sure to look at this large size to see what the heck I'm talking about. ;-))

The one thing I can say about the Pacific North West is that with a good sunset it becomes like another world.

Bandon Beach, Oregon

Old cemetery outside of Eugene. Many of the people resting there started on the East Coast in the early 1800's.

Also, skeletons.

Do you know the feeling when you look at older photos and you feel they're better than what you take these days...?

This was a shot that I took last winter and at the time I didn't even look at it. Not really anything unique but when I revisited it, I felt the colors, the light and even the composition satisfied me more than anything I took lately.

This has to be my favorite mountain visible along US 2, the Stevens Pass Highway. I cannot cross this highway without pulling over and taking it beauty and Mid-February magic.

Lovely green, lush ferns, trees and moss make my heart happy!
