Large, lanky, long-necked white heron. Size and black legs help separate from other egrets. Widespread and fairly common across the globe. Bill color varies across range: always yellow in the Americas, black in breeding season elsewhere. Occurs in any shallow wetland, including ponds, marshes, and tidal mudflats. Slowly stalks prey in shallow water. Often seen singly, but sometimes gathers in large numbers where food is plentiful. Breeds in colonies, frequently mixed with other egrets and herons. (eBird)

There were several egrets scattered about the wetlands. While common and found on every continent, they are still a joy to see. I liked the light and pose in this shot.

Corn--a staple of the Midwestern landscape, economy, and lifestyle. Nearly a third of Illinois' surface is sheathed in dark green blankets of the state's most important crop during the longest days of the year, fighting to rise "knee-high by the 4th of July" to ensure the plentiful yields required to keep farmers sleeping well at night. Skimming the tops of maturing stalks on its westward trip from the industries of Chicagoland, BNSF's Chillicothe Sub local L CHI1051 18A has 61 cars its grasp and its sights set on the classification terminal in Galesburg, making track speed on approach to Princeville with the lead duo of dueces proudly exhibiting the road's initial public image.

Here's to Hope.... Hope the drought will end soon so that hoses will stop blowing and water will always be plentiful. ...

Huge gray heron, no other similar species in range. Note large yellow-orange bill, short black plumes on head, and black and chestnut pattern on shoulder. Immatures are more brownish than adults, and have a dark crown. Fairly common and widespread throughout North America; wintering range extends to northern South America. Occurs in almost any wetland habitat, from small ponds to marshes to saltwater bays. Usually seen singly but can gather in numbers where food is plentiful. White form, sometimes considered a separate species (“Great White Heron”), is found in southern Florida and the Caribbean. It is most similar to Great Egret but has a larger bill. (eBird)

Great Blue Herons breed on the islands where they are safe from land-bound predators like coyotes, foxes and people. The adults then leave the young ones there until they are strong enough to fly the distance back to the islands. The adults travel back and forth to bring food to the young. This adult had just come in for a landing. It seemed to have neither food nor young at this particular spot. The youngsters that we saw, though, were strong enough to fly around the island so this parent will have to find his/her offspring somewhere on the rocks.

I spent a few days in Largo Portugal visiting my daughter & family while away the last month.

I had been to the Algarve of Portugal 15 years ago and wasn't really into birding back then so it was really nice to experience the Algarve through a new set of eyes.

White Storks are plentiful - - many of the local villages had nests along the river sides and on many abandoned buildings.

I only went photographing for 1.5 hours on the 1 morning - - but I saw plenty of birds

It seems there is an unlimited supply of fresh greens. Even though a small area may have a plentiful supply of her favorite weeds, she still eats on the move, with her cub in tow.

I believe she constantly moves while eating due to the presence of male grizzlies in the area. She never seems to spend much more than a few hours in any location and may move several kilometres in a day. So, each day I try to photograph grizzly bears, it is a new adventure trying to locate them. This year has been more difficult to locate them than in previous years. Either the younger adult bears have staked out territories on the other side of mountain or some of them have fallen victim to hunters or other misadventures.

This is the other side from the beach area.

Llandanwg Beach sits between the towns of Barmouth and Harlech on the southern side of Tremadog Bay. It is also part of the wider Snowdonia National Park and situated close to the pretty Afon Dwyryd estuary.

The sand dunes to the back of the beach conceal the tiny church of Saint Tanwg which dates from the 13th century. A small path winds through the dunes and leads you to the beach from the central car park area or you can take a trail from Cardigan Bay. As you sit on the pristine sands you will also be able to enjoy vistas of the rugged Rhinog Mountains in the distance.

The beach here shelves gently into the sea making this a good place to swim, although there is no lifeguard so care should be taken. When the tide is low, it reveals a causeway out to pretty Mochras which is also known by its local nickname of Shell Island due to the plethora of different hued shells found on the its beach.

Due to its strategic position, Llandanwg Beach is shielded from the well known Welsh winds which can be a little fresh at times meaning that you can enjoy this area even in the off-season. The beach is also well-loved by locals including fisherman who come here for the plentiful supplies of bass, mackerel, flatfish, and dogfish. With that in mind keen anglers will find plenty to do here, or you can explore dainty rock pools or simply go for a stroll on the soft, pristine sand.

Amenities at Traeth Llandanwg include disabled access and the village is also home to the quaint Y Maes Cafe close to the beach which operates from June to October.

Dogs are not allowed on about a third of the beach south of the car park between April 1st and September 30th. The rest of the beach is dog friendly.

The Pantanal is rich in wildlife and the caiman is part of this beautiful wetland. They are plentiful and can be seen lying along the riverside. They are amazing to see and certainly fascinating to watch. This image was captured as we were returning home after a beautiful afternoon on the river.

Wishing you all a very beautiful and blessed day !!!!!!!!

We always see one or two of these in Las Gallinas. The Common Gallinule is very attractive with its deep black body and colorful orangey-red and yellow bill. It inhabits marshes and ponds from Canada to Chile. Vocal and boldly marked with a brilliant red shield over the bill, the species can be quite conspicuous. It sometimes uses its long toes to walk atop floating vegetation. It is often secretive, but can become tame in some areas. Despite loss of habitat in parts of its range, the Common Gallinule remains plentiful and widespread.

Poking my camera into the undergrowth at the bottom of the garden. That's a single foxtail barley on the left, a grass which is plentiful here

Sadly they're finished for the season but they were incredibly pretty - and seemed plentiful - this year.

A nice walk along Burton Point yesterday found this Fieldfare taking in the sun in between feasting on the Hawthorn berries which seem plentiful at the moment.

The Golden Brown Café

One of my favorite things about the Netherlands is its plentiful supply of “Brown Bars/Cafes”, these establishments serve the locals as casual neighborhood gathering spots for beer and light snacks and are epitomized by the feeling of gezelligheid (welcoming coziness) one feels when entering or stumbling out at 1 or 2am looking for the nearest Kroketten (Dutch Croquette) machine.

Since we are at a Brown Café it is a good time to tell a story in this case how residents of Amersfoort became to be called "keien trekkers", which translates roughly to "boulder pullers".

The story goes that In the 17th century a Squire named Everhard Meyster bet his friends that he could get the locals to move a 8 ton boulder from the outskirts of town to the town square.

After providing an open bar for most of the day Everhard convinces the drunk citizens that moving this boulder would be a grand idea to which they all cheered and then 400 or so of the least drunk rolled/pulled the boulder into the main square much to Everhard’s delight and fattened purse.

Word got out about this prank on the citizens and the local were nicknamed keien trekkers for years before they buried their shame, the boulder in 1672 but the boulder wouldn’t stay hidden and was rediscovered while making repairs in 1903 and now sits proudly displayed by the locals

I took this on September 20, 2017 with my D750 and Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens at 48mm 1/3s, f/13 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz Denoise, Luminar and DXO

Tibouchina semidecandra, the princess flower, glory bush, or lasiandra, is a sprawling, evergreen shrub or small ornamental tree native to Brazil and ranges from 10 to 15 feet (20 feet with proper training) in height. It can be trimmed to any size and still put on a vivid, year-long flower display. The dark green, velvety, four to six-inch-long leaves have several prominent longitudinal veins instead of the usual one, and are often edged in red. Large, royal purple blossoms, flaring open to five inches, are held on terminal panicles above the foliage, creating a spectacular sight when in full bloom. Some flowers are open throughout the year but they are especially plentiful from May to January. (Source: Wikipedia)

2018 was a great year to shoot CN, the plethora of lease power and no PTC mandate meant that cool leaders were plentiful. CEFX 6020 was one that seemed to show up in Michigan leading a lot, and leading on this E280 was no different. Making an unusual move of working Durand before going south put it on main 1 to allow me to show off the side of the Newberry Rd. bridge that was still being rebuilt just west of Durand.

Once there was a Muscovy duck and her brood of 10 pleasingly plump ducklings. They lived in a fertile land where rainfall and food were plentiful.

This is the amazing scene that greeted my brother-in-law and I as we walked through the Horicon Marsh yesterday morning. Over one hundred Great Egrets stand in one of the marsh's many channels, feasting on the plentiful small fish.

This was 20 minutes after sunrise and the sun's rays were streaming just above the cattails and onto the misty water surface. The regal silhouettes of this many Egrets bathed in gold was a rare and moving experience!

This was our first visit to this 1983 purpose built village and marina.

Why we haven't ventured there before remains a mystery , but we will certainly be back.

Apart from a distant heron and cormorant the only wildlife we saw was these lovely spuggies on the plentiful pampas grass.

Swallowtails are usually plentiful around here in North Carolina..I actually saw a yellow one about three weeks ago..very early for them...Thank you very much for viewing my photo ! I truly appreciate any faves, comments and awards!

The intense concentration and accurate aim of this bird paid off! Food was seen and caught, despite the maze of plentiful and distracting thin reeds.

A warm day and plentiful sunshine brought out these nutria to soak up the sun. I could see five of them. They are getting the double warmth of the sun and the bodies.

Wild Redcurrant and Crab apples are plentiful in the woods and hedgerows here at the moment.

Quite an array of different birds in the Garden today with the mippits being particularly plentiful :-)

This juvenile heron was hanging out at the local park and looking for lunch in the pond. It was warm and sunny, though, and he decided that a nap was more appealing.

The pretty coastal village of Mundesley is some seven miles south-east of Cromer on the Norfolk coast. It is within the Norfolk Coast AONB and was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. The beautiful sandy beach, which is overlooked by colourful beach huts, is one of the cleanest around. There are plentiful sands stretching for miles with very little shingle. A few years ago it was voted the Best Blue Flag Beach in Britain.

In WWII the beaches in this part of the country were very heavily mined in order to deter an invasion, and it took many years and cost the lives of a number of bomb disposal experts to make all the beaches safe again. There is a memorial to them on the top of the cliff.

This will be my last posting for a little while as we are going down to our holiday home in Cornwall for two or three weeks. Very many thanks to you all for visiting my photostream and leaving so many nice comments, which I very much appreciate. I'll try and catch up with you when we get back.

A Very common bird in our region. The birds are plentiful in the countryside and they are quite agile - I am not sure apart from raptors if they have any predators. This bird landed right next to the road on the fence and didn't seem to care about our presence. I think it is a a juvenile, but the long pointing tail that indicates adulthood confuses me. The birds are always seen in groups and rarely alone. They are also predictable that they like Shrikes hunt from the same perch and come back to it.

In the right light, the bird's colors were amazing - bright and standing out. It was preening for a while, stretching and relaxing.

Thanks in advance for your views and feedback.

Saint-Apollinaire. Route du Cap. Durant la saison froide, les perdrix ont facilement accès aux bourgeons des arbustes et des arbres. Despite snowfalls, buds in shrubs and trees are still plentiful.

A big bull bison (Bison bison) uses a boulder as a scratching post near the Rex Hale Campground on the North Fork of the Shoshone west of Cody Wyoming. Buffalo (what they are commonly called) are a normal sight in Yellowstone National Park but they aren’t as plentiful outside the Park in Shoshone National Forest.

Velvet Shank is the best guess for this mushroom growing on a felled tree trunk in Gloucestershire. It fits the bill, being chestnut brown in colour and found in October in a cluster on deciduous wood,. The caps can provide a tasty winter meal if plentiful enough.

Velvet Shank, also know as Enoki, is a species of edible mushroom in the family Physalacriaceae. It is well known for its role in Japanese cuisine, where it is also known as Enokitake.

While Greater Scaup are plentiful through the winter I only see Lesser Scaup here a few times in a year.

I do not often post pictures of the Northern Shoveler, as they are quite plentiful. However, the colors on this one seemed to stand out, so am making an exception.

In Orick, California, elk are plentiful. There was a sizeable herd grazing in this large meadow, with the cows in the background, while a lone bull grazed in the area closest to Redwood Highway (US 101).

This scene occurred on the winter solstice in 2018, while we were traveling from Crescent City and Redwood National Park to Eureka, CA.

Congrats on Explore!

You’re sure to see more of these when I snip some branches.

I've got to get them soon before all the city folk come out & raid them. They’re very plentiful this year though, so lots to go around :)

The Uros islands are a group of 70 man-made totora reed islands floating on Peru’s Lake Titicaca. Its inhabitants, the Uros tribe, pre-date Incan civilization and continue to hunt and fish the plentiful land and waters they occupy.

By volume of water and surface area, Lake Titicaca is the largest lake in South America and the highest navigable body of water in the world.

My ungulate (hoofed animals) series continues with a series within a series...of a bison dust wallow. Bison roll in the dirt to deter biting flies and help shed fur. Male bison also wallow during mating season to leave behind their scent and display their strength. This shot was taken after the bison rut, and biting flies were plentiful, so it's easy to determine this purpose of this roll.

This bull is part of the Wind Cave National Park bison herd, one of just a few herds in North America that are genetically pure (no cattle genes).

For many of us, clean water is so plentiful and readily available that we rarely, if ever, pause to consider what life would be like without it. Marcus Samuelsson

Yucca brevifolia, or Joshua tree, is plentiful in Joshua Tree National Park. Their common name is said to have been given to them by Mormon settlers who thought their outstretched arms reminded them of a Biblical story about Joshua.

The trees grow about 3 inches a year in the first 10 years and thereafter about 1 1/2 inches a year depending on conditions. They can live for hundreds of years topping out at around 50 feet. There is concern that climate change will impact their ability to survive in their namesake park.

There is no shortage of brilliant and plentiful Daffodils here. They liven up the inside of our home. One doesn’t have to look far outdoors either. Truly “Daffodils Bless Our Property” Thanks for viewing my work. Gratitude and kindness are a Blessing.

Another stern shot from the ferry travelling from Tsawwassen, (Vancouver), to Duke Point Terminal, (Nanaimo). This shot shows the stern of the ferry and the view out to the Salish Sea. Inset in this view is a ghosted image of an Orca. At one time the Salish Sea, (Gulf of Georgia), was a safe and plentiful habitat for the Orcas but with the ever-increasing man-made marine traffic and pressure on the Orcas' food resources it is no longer the safe Sea of Plenty. Lets hope, with the conservation efforts now underway that, in the future, the Orcas will not become just a ghostly image from the past but continue to be a thriving and vital part of the Salish Sea ecosystem .
