Standing about 4 metres tall above the water, a safe place to wait for the tides to recede, for pilgrims walking to Lindisfarne, (Holy Island), a tidal island, Northumberland.

The structure seemed sound but it did lean a little:-)

He is a patron saint of travellers. He sits in Plaza Rey San Fernando, showing the wounds and traumas of his travels, subjected to the constant indiginity of being photographed by and with every tourist that comes across him.

However, there is some confusion over whether the statue is of Raphael, a pilgrim, St James or St Roche

Permanent pilgrim, so this man met in Santiago defined himself. He had with him a remarkable series of "credentials" of the various pilgrimages around Europe (the credential is a kind of document certifying the identity of the pilgrim, his destination and the timbres of albergue where spends the night) and also some pictures of when he was younger but already great walker.

It has been a great pleasure to listen to his words and to know his story of permanent pilgrim, really a wonderful encounter.

I asked him if I could take a photo, one, this.

We are the Pilgrims, master; we shall go

Always a little further; it may be

Beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow

Across that angry or that glimmering sea.

This weekend I found a special treat at the Goodwill, "Holiday Costumes for a Small Dog"! JACKPOT! $2.99 for a full bag of homemade seasonal costumes.

The pastoral painting in the background is also a thrift store score, signed by "D.Leskovksy" and dated 1958.

Kakashi dolls depicting the Shikoku Island pilgrims (O-Henro-san), Kamiyama, Japan. The Henro is a 88 temple pilgrimage, one ofo the oldest in the world, honoring the Buddist monk, Kukai. It is traditionally done on foot, circumnavigating 1200 km of Shikoku Island, taking 30-60 days. The pilgrims wear white outfits, a stole, conical grass hats and carry staffs. Every time I visit Shikoku Island I never fail to see many O-Henro-san.

In India, pilgrims, who travel a lot and sleep on the ground in the temples, wash themselves in the river.

En Inde, les pèlerins, qui voyagent beaucoup et dorment par terre dans les temples, se lavent dans le fleuve.

Night shot taken in a shrine in Spain. That night I travelled to that place with Felipe Carrasquilla and César Vega. It was a long trip to get this place, but it was worth it :-)

Detail of the Last Judgment tympanum over the west door, sculpted by Gislebertus around 1130. Here on the lower left, the redeemed rise from their graves and head for heaven. Among them are two pilgrims with symbols on their bags - a Greek cross indicating Jerusalem and a scallop shell representing Santiago de Compostela.

Prompt: Create a digital fine art painting in a square aspect ratio, depicting a 17th-century Thanksgiving feast among early Pilgrim settlers gathered around a rustic wooden table in a colonial cabin.

At the center of the table sits a large roasted turkey, surrounded by platters of bread, root vegetables, corn, and stewed dishes, all rendered with rich texture and golden tones. The tablecloth is simple linen, slightly wrinkled and stained from the hearty meal.

The scene shows men and women dressed in authentic Pilgrim attire — black and brown garments with white collars and cuffs, bonnets, and tall hats. Their faces are expressive, reflecting warmth and gratitude as they converse and share food. The composition captures the intimate atmosphere of the first Thanksgiving: firelit, earthy, and full of reverence.

Add a West Highland White Terrier sitting attentively at the table between two figures, its bright white fur contrasting softly against the warm brown tones of the room. The Westie should have an alert but gentle expression, looking toward the feast, adding a touch of charm and innocence to the historic scene.

Include subtle background details such as dried herbs and corn hanging from wooden beams, pumpkins and gourds on the floor, and warm, diffused light illuminating the faces and food. The overall tone should convey a feeling of community, gratitude, and timeless tradition.

The Pilgrim, climbing rose bred by David Austin, (1991) , is probably one of if not the most beautiful rose I have seen. The centre is a soft yellow with the petals lightening to almost pure white at the edge. In my opinion an outstanding rose!
