Stargazing myself to sleep; the gentle lake sounds during the night; not needing a tent; all were wonderful. Waking up within this, may have been even better.

Considering all the stuff I unnecessarily carried up, it was sweeter yet.

i got my lip pierced this one time.

Here's me with a freshly pierced labret circa 2003

Cleveland OH Engine 4, a 2015 Pierce Saber with 1500 GPM pump and 500 gallon tank is operating at the scene of a box alarm at 1545 West 25th Street, March 20, 2023.

Lower Pierce Reservoir, Singapore. This was my very first time to this place. It's a very peaceful environment. A great place to take a quiet stroll and watch the sunset. And with the light breeze coming from the reservoir, it's almost a perfect setting for a quiet moment with love ones. :)

Anyway, the setup and settings used:

Nikon D200

Tokina 12-24mm f/4 @ 12mm

Aperture Priority mode

f/8

7x Bracket Exposure

RAW

Cokin Sunset 2 + ND 8 (that's the color I got when these 2 filters are combined)

Combined the 7x exposures in photomatix to create the HDR (just a slight adjustment of Strength + Saturation + Light Smoothing) to add some details to the sky and rocks. Further fine tune the HDR image in CS3.

This spectacular automobile is one of the only custom-bodied Pierce-Arrows ever built. The car was built and designed at Don Lee Coachworks of Los Angeles, CA for the film star Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle. The estimated cost was $32,000. Current owner is Robert S. Jepson of Savannah, GA. The most recent showing was the 2017 Lake Mirror Concours d'Elegance in Lakeland, FL where it was awarded Best in Show.

. . . Sunset looking towards the Manitou Passage and South Manitou Island from Turnout Number 9 on Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive, which I have now renamed to Mount Sleeping Bear!

It's only a 500 foot "mountain" over Lake Michigan, but I am looking forward to seeing some real mountains in a few days with a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.

Have a great week Facebook, Flickr, and 500px friends!

While visiting my wife's favorite piercer's office I couldn't resist doing a panoramic shot of it with my I-Phone which make this small room which is no bigger than a walk in closet look huge.

Tuesday was a beautiful but windy fall day. The colors of the oaks are really lovely surrounding Pierce Lake. Pierce Lake is an impoundment of Willow Creek. Designed for recreation, the dam was completed in 1960.

Ever walked so long in deep snow that it has worked its way through your waterproof trousers, gaiters, two pairs of socks, and finally melted inside one of your waterproof walking boots, as you consider making some homemade snow shoes that you once saw Ray Mears fashion out of frozen bark? Ever been sheltering in a rock cave from heavy snow, icy wind, trying to defrost your toes by stamping up and down and kicking hard things to get some circulation going, and slowly coming to terms with the fact that the sun isn’t going to arrive on this dawn shoot? Don’t get me wrong, I was only fleetingly wondering about having to dig the car out of the snow drift that I’d hastily parked it in, as I began to think about calling it a day.

Then... literally out of the blue, like some kind of magical stereotyped cliché, within seconds the snow parted and the sun dramatically pierced the gloom. Well you have never seen me move so fast! (Well people who have been out with me will have seen this behaviour occasionally). Anyway, I franticly began searched for foreground interest to balance the prominent mid distance solitary tree! Could I find an angle in these perfect conditions, could I buggery! Could I restrain my language, could I buggery! I couldn’t run backward and forward in this snow and I knew I only had seconds to make a composition work! Well I managed to run perpendicular to this tree to a few different locations in knee deep snow trying desperately to make it work, and this is what I finally came up with!

By the way, I’m sorry that I’ve not been around much lately I’ve been rather busy writing an article for Amateur Photographer, ironically about sunrises...

Another pierced leaf impaled on a twig. The process of leaf fall and their journeys are quite beautiful, some end up on the ground, some wash away down rivers, some like this one stay up in the skies. The wintered blue sky by Jim White is a lovely title.

No, no es que haya adelantado el viaje para no perderme la exposición de la Fundación Jorge Jove en el CC Los Rosales. Es que mi cuñado Santi me mandó las fotos que hizo hoy y le pedí que me dejara subirlas.
