2023 Photo 150/215: I shot this landscape today at the Peaks of Otter on the Blue Ridge Parkway to fulfill my 365-day obligation and because I told Patrick Cray that I would shoot with a legacy Nikon screw-drive autofocus lens and report on it. I used an AF Nikkor 85mm f1.8 lens and shot as wide-open as I could to get minimum depth-of-field and maximum bokeh. The lens autoindexed the aperture to my Z-mount camera -- a Z7ii -- but the focus was manual-only, though made easier because it's a wide-aperture lens and a lot of light gets collected to enable bright focusing. I will continue to use this lens for portraits. That's what it's best for because of the long minimum-focusing distance and the mild telephone. ©2023 John M. Hudson | jmhudson1.com
