The atmospheric conditions in this scene left distant colors muted while those closer, were rendered more vivid. Considering the use of a telephoto lens, this helped achieve a more three dimensional perspective.

At this level, even a protruding root looks quite impressive. Here, perspective becomes as important to the success of the shot as the many colors, various shapes, and multiple lines.
Of course my knees thought otherwise, as my lens was only inches from the ground. However, this experiment was to illustrate that perspective can be as crucial to the appearance of an image, as most physical elements.
For one of these they are having an amazing day, they will be able to feed their family and survive a bit longer, The other perspective is this most likely will be the worst day they have ever had. But it is the cycle of life.

my word for 2015 is possibility. i’m trying to stay open, see anew, and allow for possibility. some days it feels natural. other days it feels forced—so on those days i look for fresh perspective; I try to flip my world 180 degrees.
There is just something about this scene that I really love... the muted colours, the very simple composition, the slightly lower perspective - not the most beautiful view, but nevertheless has a simple beauty about it.
