After fostering Ms. Kitty for almost 2 months, today her adopters travelled into town to collect her. They are wonderful people who have adopted from me before, so, I know that her future is assured. They are thinking of calling her Dulce, which is a perfect name – as she is sweetness personified.

Wooden gazebo in the park of the city of Konakovo, Tver region. Russia.

I was hiding in it from the rain.

Surprisingly, the first gazebos appeared about 5000 years ago, and it happened in Ancient Egypt. Then the sale of ready-made gazebos was impossible, and each building had a bright personality. ... According to Egyptian beliefs, the garden personified paradise, and the gazebo was an integral part of it.

A gazebo is a light architectural structure, usually located in a garden or park, with benches and a table, designed to protect from rain and direct sunlight, and used for relaxation and conversation.

The shape of the arbors can be very diverse. The simplest type is four posts covered with a straight or hipped roof; along the bottom, the columns are surrounded by a wall on three sides; with the fourth - the entrance is open; benches go along the walls, and in the middle a table is placed on a fixed bedside table. Arbors, in addition, are polygonal or round.

Gazebos are extremely diverse in terms of their design, appearance and materials used for their construction. Most often they are made from wood, iron and natural stone. In the first case, they are made in Russian, Swiss or Chinese style; in the latter case, they are given a more monumental character and the forms of the ancient classical styles, Greek and Roman, or forms of the Renaissance style are applied to them.

I may be in the minority but I still love the McLaren MP4-12C. The 12C never had a fighting chance to get the love it deserved as McLaren introduced the 650S only a few months after the 12C's debut. People were so quick to fall in love with the 650S and forget about the 12C that it never had a chance to prove itself. Luckily there are a few around Pittsburgh still including this beautiful Volcano Yellow one that belongs to a friend of mine.

Poësia : le silence des origines

Il y a en nous, comme ici sur Poësia, des lieux de grand silence,

Des lieux où, celui qui sait écouter, reconnaîtra les trois sons primordiaux de nos origines…

… La voix grave de la mer, unique et universelle

… Le chuchotement de la pluie

… Et le bruissement du vent dans les boisés naturels.

Comme ici dans cette forêt infranchissable, tellement dense que la lumière elle-même doit y être invitée pour y pénétrer!

C’est pourtant dans ces forêts mystérieuses qu’habitent tant d’esprits et de personnages mythiques inventés par l’imaginaire humain pour personnifier les héros et le courage, le mystère et la sagesse, le bien et le mal, la peur et la joie, l’amour et la haine.

Alors peut-être que… C’est aussi dans ces lieux de grand silence, qui nous ramènent à nos origines, que nous trouverons un jour, la capacité d’inventer une autre façon d’habiter notre planète… avec respect.

Poësia : In the quietest moments

There is within us, as here on Poësia, places of great silence,

Places where, whoever knows how to listen, will recognize the three primordial sounds of our origins ...

... The deep voice of the sea, unique and universal

... The whisper of the rain

... and the rustling of the wind in the natural woods.

As here in this impenetrable forest, so dense that the light itself must be invited to enter!

Nevertheless in these mysterious forests live so many spirits and mythical characters invented by the human imagination to personify heroes and courage, mystery and wisdom, good and evil, fear and joy, love and hate.

So maybe ... these places of great silence, will bring us back to our origins, and we will find one day the capacity to invent another way of inhabiting our planet ... with respect.

As the unusual weather pattern of Winter 2016 continues, we enjoyed temperatures in the mid 60's this past weekend. So why not get a few exotics out and go for a cruise and photoshoot. It's odd to think just last weekend we were dealing with the aftermath of Winter Storm Jonas. Hopefully the groundhog doesn't see his shadow tomorrow and it's an early Spring.

This weekend we decided to go on a cruise with the GT3 and several other car friends to Mingo Creek County Park in hopes of shooting with some Fall colours but unfortunately it's still a little too early in the season. There's still too much green on the trees but we'll try again this weekend.

Spent another extremely fun day yesterday in the passenger's seat of @p1pro's McLaren 650S exploring the Western Pennsylvania countryside with lots of friends.

This American Avocet is an example of that elegance as it quietly moves across the water at Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, Utah.

American Avocets place their nests directly on the ground without the benefit of shrubs to provide shade. To keep the eggs from overheating during incubation, they dip their belly feathers in water. (CornellLab)
