Low light shot of the confederation bridge from the PEI side.

The only problem that I have traveling around by car no matter where in the world is trying not stop every two minutes because I see a shot I want to take. PEI is a landscapers dream with backdrops of water, red sandstone cliffs, sandy beaches and verdant forests mixed in with changeable weather and islander propensity to keep things tidy you have plenty to occupy your obsession. This little scene can be found on Eddie Murphy Rd just off the 20 on the way to the Cape Tryon Lighthouse and had the right feel to it or at least enough for me to pull over and set up a shot on this cute little barn.

I took this on Sept 14, 2022 with my D850 and Tamron 24-70 f2.8 G2 Lens at 32mm, 1/25s, f11 ISO 64 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia ,Topaz, and DXO Nik

Disclaimer: My style is a study of romantic realism as well as a work in progress

Nighttime approaches on the north-eastern shore of Prince Edward Island, Canada

The Covehead Harbour Lighthouse is square, tapered, 8.2 metre (26.9 ft) tall wooden tower surmounted by a square, wooden lantern. It is located among the sand dunes of Prince Edward Island National Park of Canada, on the beach just to the east of the entrance into Covehead Bay. It is the second lighthouse on the site, built in 1975 as a replacement for the original tower.

This one is from deep, deep in the archives. I think it was the very first abandoned house I ever shot. First time round, I smothered it in textures, I resurrected it to give it a new edit.

I had to take this shot quickly as the tide was coming in. The only way back was to climb the rocks in the opposite direction for about a kilometer to shore. Nevertheless, I was pained to leave this scene behind before the sun had fully descended.

Another beautiful sunrise when I was in PEI.

AAW: August 14 - 21: The Sky

Here we are in a bed and breakfast in Prince Edward Island. The beach is on the north shore, just 45 steps away (hence the name of the inn: The 45 Steps). It boasts beautiful sunsets, as you can see. Sunrise picture to come.

The Doucet House was built around 1772 on Grand-Père Point, across the bay from where it now sits. Jean Doucet was an influential Acadian on the Island. In 1785, he was authorized to officiate at marriages and baptisms throughout the Island, in the absence of a French-speaking priest. His house, made of hewn logs with dovetailed joints, was larger than most. It is the only remaining example of 18thcentury Acadian vernacular construction in Prince Edward Island. It illustrates the way of life of the Acadians who escaped the Deportation in the 1750s, who had lost everything and had to start all over again.

Title is a bit of "tongue in cheek" humour. I love PEI the way it is.

Sunset behind Confederation Bridge, PEI.

Confederation Bridge joins the eastern Canadian provinces of Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick, making travel throughout the Maritimes easy and convenient. The curved, 12.9 kilometre (8 mile) long bridge is the longest in the world crossing ice-covered water, and continues to endure as one of Canada’s top engineering achievements of the 20th century.

After four years of construction using crews of more than five thousand local workers, the Confederation Bridge opened to traffic on May 31, 1997.

This is near West Point in Prince Edward Island, with the Northumberland Strait in the background.

Thanks for looking, etc.:)

Seacow Head Lighthouse, PEI, at dusk. Built in 1864, as one of the five original colonial era or pre-Confederation lighthouses in Prince Edward Island. It is one of the oldest remaining wooden lighthouse in the Maritimes.

Prince Edward Island

Established in 1881, this iconic lighthouse sits on PEI's South-eastern shore. This square, three storey structure with gabled windows has been moved twice, in 1946 and 2015, due to bank erosion.

A Marconi Wireless Telegraph Station was built next to the lighthouse in 1905 and served to communicate with ships at sea. On the night of April 14, 1912, Thomas Bartlett received the first distress signal in Canada from the Titanic as it was sinking off the coast of Newfoundland.

I stumbled upon the Cape Traverse Free Church at dusk as I was driving to another location in PEI. Built in 1887, the church windows give it the only colour in an otherwise monochrome photo, invitingly.
