Nobody will ever know how much this pony meant to me, he was my best friend! None knows how much I love/miss this pony! I wrote this for my boy....
As their warm mane blows onto your skin, you feel a fresh life within
As you watch them gallop round their field, you feel a rush of excitement
As you whisper your secrets into their ears, you feel safe and calm
As you step out the car and breathe in the pony air, you feel a tingle down your spine.
Ponies will always be with you even when they die
You will still be able to see them when you dream about them at the end of the day
Even though Patch cannot be seen
She will always be in my heart!
This is all a first for me, not just track building but actual ballasting - and I forgot to tamp down the ballast after sprinkling onto the pva, so a few patches appeared. Patching with 50/50 pva water mix showed that it dried a slightly lighter colour and slighty higher.
The most interesting of the longhorn beetles that I have found. This one is an excellent bee mimic. From the size to the behaviour. It flew from leaf to leaf, never stopping for long, making it quite difficult to photograph. Wasn't really satisfied with any one picture, but together hopefully they show the amazing mimicry at play here. The hind legs are thickened as in bees to mimic pollen carrying buckets, they are even more heavily bristled! There is a green patch on the head, since the eyes of a lot of these bees are green. The colouration is perfect! The segmentation of the abdomen and even the wings which don't look to be held in an elytra! Fantastic!!!!Found during a day hike around Sandoval lake lodge, Tambopata river area, Amazonian lowlands, Peru.
Finally got around to fixing the sewing machine, re-learning how to use it, finding all of the patches Kennedy earned this past year, and sewing everything on. We also put together ~30 SWAPS in preparation for her first Girl Scout service unit day camp. 20/366
Bordered Patch Chlosyne lacinia on Frogfruit Phyla nodiflora in Refugio, Texas. There was at least 50 of them flying about. June 2010
Patches is such a loving cat. He wants your attention always. When ever I see Allisa sitting on the couch, Patches is not far behind her waiting to get her attentions.
Esta foi a primeira estrela que fiz, resultado da aula de final de semana, que tive com minha filha Beth - Beth&Arte
Chance's spinnaker got a small tear on our first hoist -- so bowman Sean & I patched it during the upwind leg, and got it ready just in time to re-launch on the second downwind leg -- and look, it holds just fine!
Patches went into temporary care originally for 2 days. His foster mom said that he experienced anxiety around men (not aggressive, but fearful), and that she slept on a couch with him to help him to relax. The foster situation, however, has been cut short because the air-conditioning clutch has failed on my car, making transport during the day unsafe for the dogs. Since adoptive homes have not been found, they will return with me to West Virginia tonight while travel is cooler, and where they can be boarded.
Update 7/13: His foster mom says that Patches seems housebroken, and quite affiliative to her (a little afraid of being left alone). The big news is that Patches has found an adoptive home - a 3-generational adoption through the church with another dog, too. The adoption will take place tomorrow at the Duke st. dog park in Alexandria, VA at 5. Chandler, Petey and Duke will also be there.
Update 7/14: Patches went home with his adoptive family and a dapper new collar (all 3 generations). He already has an appointment to be groomed - lucky dog!!!
Update 7/27 (from his adoptive Goddad at church): Patches has mostly bonded with the oldest generation adult in the family (who will be called adoptive mom). He enjoys going out a lot, getting very excited every time someone takes out the leash. He appears housebroken, and is going to the vet this week. His coat has been trimmed to a cooler cut, and he is still trying to sort things out with the other dog (a 4 yo Corgi mix) in the 2nd generation's (Godmom's) house. Neutering him will probably help in this situation. According to Goddad, he eats like a horse!

This was a Burns Bros truck stop and briefly a TA when Burns Bros was sold to TA sometime in the past 10 years or so.
It operated as TA for only a brief time period before becoming independent. The TA branding was all removed exposing the old Burns Bros branding.
There is still a TA (also a former Burns Bros) 30 miles away from this place.
