Go ahead and play dead
I know that you can hear this
Go ahead and play dead
Why can't you turn and face me?
Why can't you turn against me?
WAKE UP!
You fucking disappoint me

Eastern screech owl (Megascops asio), a small owl that is relatively common in Eastern North America, from Mexico to Canada / Massapequa Preserve, also known as the Peter J. Schmitt Preserve, is 423 acres of land located in the center of Massapequa, an unincorporated Hamlet within the Town of Oyster Bay, beginning at the intersection of Ocean Ave. and Merrick Road. These undeveloped acres of land feature woodlands, lakes, and freshwater wetlands that border Massapequa Creek and stretch for about 4 miles. Massapequa Preserve is the largest passive use park in Nassau County; its beauty is maintained by several volunteer groups and organizations that work to maintain the natural ecosystems in the area. Massapequa Preserve was originally part of the New York City water supply property and was acquired by Nassau County in 1981. Currently, it is being managed by the Nassau County Department of Recreation and Parks. Massapequa Preserve offers multiple small bodies of water to explore, including a reservoir. The Massapequa Reservoir is known to be a popular fishing spot and may be the most heavily fished pond on Long Island. This is due to the routine stocking of trout that happens twice a year. Massapequa Reservoir is stocked with brown and rainbow trout in the spring and fall which draw crowds of people around these times. Other common fish to catch in the Massapequa Reservoir include Largemouth Bass, Trout, Sunnies, Carp, Catfish, and Pickerel. Local fishers enjoy the easily accessible bodies of water.

A few years ago, a so-called "community" group blew up a redevelopment proposal in north Portland that would have brought a Trader Joe's into what had long been a food desert. All they had to do was claim "gentrification" and the project was DOA.
That was a shame, because the proposal was the result of long negotiations with actual stakeholders in the neighborhood, whose buy-in had been secured.
Fast forward and that parcel of property is occupied by - drum roll - an upscale grocery store!
Portland being Portland, the city has established a commendable fund to compensate people who have been displaced from certain gentrified neighborhoods. At the last report I heard, there have been very few claimants.
The producers of this little visual rat bite would do well to remember that it's almost certain that they and their friends are living on land obtained by Europeans from Native Americans under extremely dodgy circumstances. We're all of us gentrifiers.

Foot Reflexology
Foot reflexology is "pressure therapy" and involves applying focused pressure to certain known reflex points located in the foot to cure or prevent disease. Foot reflexology is based on the premise that our nerve zones or reflex points go from the bottom of our feet to the top of our head, encompassing all vital organs on the way.
Neck & Back Massage
A massage is the most basic of all healing techniques. Studies indicate that this touch therapy reduces stress, depression, lessen pain and boost the immune system. A back massage is the most preferred massage treatment as poor spine, postural defects and sleeping disorders are effectively addressed through this simple, nurturing and powerful touch therapy.
Swedish Massage
Swedish body massage is the original massage technique involving a sequence of movements working superficially and deeper into the tissue layers. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Massage helps in flushing the tissues of harmful deposits such as lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes . Swedish massage also stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable, and stimulates the skin and sooth the nervous system at the same time. As a treatment it helps reduce stress, both emotional and physical, and is often suggested in a program for stress management. It also has many specific medical uses.
Balinese Massage
A Balinese massage uses a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure. Aroma oils used in the massage stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and energy around your body, and bring deep relaxation and wellness. Massage is a rigorous and luxurious spa treatment and a great one to choose if you want to experience a variety of massage techniques, relax and feel spiritually renewed at the same time. Balinese massage is related to the ancient Ayurveda, the Indian holistic medical system.
Aromatherapy Massage
Aromatherapy massage is an ancient science of healing, relaxing and energizing by the use of plants and their parts. The roots, barks, flowers, fruits, seeds and nuts play a crucial part in this massage. The word aromatherapy is derived from two words aroma which means smell and therapy which stands for healing and overall relaxation and wellbeing.
Thai Massage
Thai massage is an ancient healing art. Through application of pressure on energy lines and points, and a vast array of passive stretching movements performed with the hands, feet, knees and elbows, the body experiences profound relaxation, peripheral stimulation of internal organs, increased flexibility and increased flow of energy. Thai massage is that you get the flexibility, inner organ massage, oxygenation of the blood and quieting of the mind that is attained with yoga. Through deep muscle stretching, joint release and emphasis on breath, Thai massage offers many of the same benefits as yoga.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is a particularly effective massage for people with muscular pain. Massage helps to refresh and relax muscles, increasing the blood flow and therefore the oxygen flow around your body. This gets rid of toxins in very sore and strained muscles, which helps them to strengthen and heal. Deep tissue massage is often used to treat people who are recovering from accidents, and for sports injuries as it increases blood circulation in muscles that are underused, relieves chronic muscle tension throughout the body, and can also break down scar tissue and "knots" deep in the muscles.
Ayurveda Massage
According to Ayurveda each individual is a combination of the 3 doshas namely vata, pitta and kapha. These 3 govern the metabolic activity in an individual. The detoxification methods like panchakarma and other health remedies ( herbal) when applied wholly/singly make the body, more responsive to medicines thereby hastening the healing process. Various yogasanas achieve, the twin propose of strengthening the body, vital organs like heart, liver etc. as well as keep the physical and psychological condition strong. Not only do the herbal remedies play an important role in internal health and well being but also external health and beauty which is quite evident from the overall appearance.
One of the most important reasons for increasing use of Ayurveda in beauty and skin care is that this system can clearly bring out a youthful clear skin in conjunction with happiness and relaxation which otherwise can’t be achieved by cosmetics. A well regulated lifestyle along with suggesting a discerning diet according to ones doshas will go a long way to strengthen ones natural immune system. Ayurveda is perhaps the first such system that recognises that all diseases are, but the direct manifestations of one’s mental conditions. Any disturbance in the 3 states of human mind (Trigunas) namely Satwa, Rajas as and Tamas manifests in the form of physical illness.

10mhz out, power switch and 15-19v dc in.
the rubidium box is about $150 on ebay (china) and takes 12v dc. it warms up in about 5 minutes and once its locked, its nearly an exact 10.0000000 MHz signal out in sine wave form.
a lot of people are now using these as their 'lab clock' source (modern freq counters and function generators often can use external 10mhz reference clocks instead of their local oscillator).

STUDENT TEAM STARTS BUILDING TECHSTYLE HAUS FOR THE SOLAR DECATHLON EUROPE 2014 COMPETITION.
Team including representatives from Brown University, the Rhode Island School of Design, and the University of Applied Sciences of Erfurt, Germany begin building their entry to the Solar Decathlon Europe 2014 Competition, a passive house made entirely of high-performance textiles.
PROVIDENCE, RI, FEBRUARY 3, 2014.
BUILDING HAS BEGUN.
After over a year of designing, planning, and designing some more, TECHSTYLE HAUS has finally begun fabrication. The team has set up a build site to construct the pieces of TECHSTYLE HAUS at a warehouse in Providence owned by Ximedica. With the help of Shawmut Construction, students have learned about the essentials of safe building and site management.
While some students built model floor pallets, others completed a full scale mock-up of a section of the house to study the wall assembly and insulation composition. Other parts of the TECHSTYLE HAUS design have been finalized:
Design of the decks and foundation pallets
Design of the mechanical core, with help from Herrick & White
Design of the HVAC system, with help from Viessmann and TACO
Engineering specifications of the steel structure, with help from Chicago Rolled Metal Products and Simpson Gumpertz & Heger
Engineering and design specifications of the Sheerfill membrane, with help from Saint-Gobain and Birdair
Furniture and interior finish selections, with help from Vitra
Even though the team has much more construction ahead of them, they are all eager to don their hard hats to realize their vision for a new type of sustainable housing. Construction is slated to be complete by the end of April so that the project can be packed up and shipped (thankfully it’s made of lightweight textiles) to France, ready to be re-erected for the Solar Decathlon Europe Competition in June.
TECHSTYLE HAUS.
Challenging problems desire challenging solutions. The world is rocked by volatile climate change, resource depletion, and social upheaval; and architects must design in response to the needs of the times. We cannot hope to design for the new world if our ideas of architecture are mired in the definitions of the past.

SOLAR DECATHLON COMPETITION.
The 2014 European Solar Decathlon is an international competition that challenges 20 university teams to compete in ten contests to build a completely solar-powered house. Contests include Innovation, Architecture, Sustainability, and Energy Efficiency.
TEAM.
We are a dedicated and diverse team from Brown University, The Rhode Island School of Design, and the University of Applied Sciences of Erfurt, Germany. Together, our goal is to challenge the very definition of sustainable building design, harness new material potentials, and embrace the spirit of innovation.
VERSAILLES.
The competition takes place in Versailles, France between June 26 and July 11, immediately after a short assembly phase starting June 13.
BOISBUCHET.
Following a brief breakdown at the competition, TECHSTYLE HAUS will be moved to Domaine de Boisbuchet, a prestigious campus for art and design workshops in Lessac, France. The house will serve as a prototype that will be aggregated, creating a dense student commune for 40 students. Following assembly, TECHSTYLE HAUS will be continually monitored and studied to not only test its performance, but its viability as a new kind of sustainable development.
A LEARNING TOOL.
TECHSTYLE HAUS is first and foremost a learning tool. By choosing to work with textiles, we are inevitably challenging conventional architectural practices and approaching homebuilding with a fresh perspective. This challenge has encouraged us to consider the problem with playful and willing minds and has given us the opportunity to invent new solutions to old problems.
PASSIVE HOUSE.
The house may inspire active experience, but will be built to the Passive House Standard, the premier benchmark for energy performance. TECHSTYLE HAUS will challenge the typical idea of a passive, high-performance house (with its four thick walls and highly insulated ceilings), to one with sweeping arches and an innovative textile wall enclosure.
TEXTILE SKIN.
Our most innovative invention is our textile wall assembly. Textiles intelligently layer to create a high-performance exterior enclosure suitable for Passive House Standard, while integrating textural interior textiles.
SOLAR ENERGY.
We are utilizing textile-integrated flexible solar photovoltaic cells and solar thermal units to harness energy, making for an entirely off-the-grid house.
LIFESTYLE.
TECHSTYLE HAUS features an open and flexible plan suitable for multiple lifestyles. Aside from the compact core for utilities, the house can be adapted and defined by its inhabitants. The design will incorporate Saint Gobain’s Multi-Comfort principles to ensure a maximized interior environment.

The continued significant reduction in the extent of the summer sea ice cover is a dramatic illustration of the pronounced impact increased global temperatures are having on the Arctic regions. There has also been a significant reduction in the relative amount of older, thicker ice. Satellite-based passive microwave images of the sea ice cover have provided a reliable tool for continuously monitoring changes in the extent of the Arctic ice cover since 1979. During 2008 the summer minimum ice extent, observed in September, reached 4.7 million km2. While slightly above the record minimum of 4.3 million km2, set just a year earlier in September 2007, the 2008 summer minimum further reinforces the strong negative trend in summertime ice extent observed over the past thirty years. At the record minimum in 2007, extent of the sea ice cover was 39% below the long-term average from 1979 to 2000. A longer time series of sea ice extent, derived primarily from operational sea ice charts produced by national ice centers, suggests that the 2007 September ice extent was 50% lower than conditions in the 1950s to the 1970s (Stroeve et al. 2008). The spatial pattern of the 2008 minimum extent was different than in 2007.
The annual maximum sea ice extent typically occurs in March. In March 2008, the maximum ice extent was 15.2 million km2. This marked a second year of slight recovery in winter ice extent from the record minimum of 14.4 million km2 for the period 1979–2008, which was observed in 2006. For comparison, the mean monthly ice extent for March and September, for the period 1979–2008, is 15.6 and 6.7 million km2, respectively.
The Arctic sea ice cover is composed of perennial ice (the ice that survives year-round) and seasonal ice (the ice that melts during the summer). Consistent with the diminishing trends in the extent and thickness of the cover is a significant loss of the older, thicker perennial ice in the Arctic. Data from the NASA QuikSCAT launched in 1999 (Nghiem et al., 2007) and a buoy-based Drift-Age Model (Rigor and Wallace, 2004) indicate that the amount of perennial ice in the March ice cover has decreased from approximately 5.5 to 3.0 million km2 over the period 1958–2007. While there is considerable interannual variability, an overall downward trend in the amount of perennial ice began in the early 1970s. This trend appears to coincide with a general increase in the Arctic-wide, annually averaged surface air temperature, which also begins around 1970. In recent years, the rate of reduction in the amount of older, thicker perennial ice has been increasing, and now very little ice older than 5 yr remains (Maslanik et al. 2007).
