The subject of this Picture of the Week, a spiral galaxy named NGC 1589, was once the scene of a violent bout of cosmic hunger pangs; as astronomers looked on, a poor, hapless star was torn apart and devoured by the ravenous supermassive black hole at the centre of the galaxy.

Maullin se ubica a 57 kilómetros al este de Puerto Montt, en la Provincia de Llanquihue, Region de los Lagos. Este pequeño poblado situado a orillas del Río homónimo, posee atractivos naturales como la playa Pangal, Puerto Godoy, Quillagua y los Humedales del Rio Maullin.
Pangal es la playa principal y queda al suroeste de Maullin entre las desembocaduras de los ríos San Pedro Amortajado y Río Maullin. De aproximadamente 4,6 km. de largo con blancas arenas y gran belleza escenica, mira al Oceano Pacifico siendo muy concurrida en la temporada de primavera-verano para realizar acampadas o para la pesca deportiva de robalo, pejerreyes y algunas corvinas.

Maullin is located 57 kilometers east of Puerto Montt, in the Province of Llanquihue, Region de los Lagos. This small town located on the eponymous river, has natural attractions such as the beach Pangal, Puerto Godoy, Quillagua and Maullin River Wetlands.
Pangal is the main beach southwest of Maullin between the mouths of the rivers San Pedro Amortajado and Maullin. It has about 4.6 km. long with white sand and great scenic beauty facing the Pacific Ocean vey busy in the spring-summer season for camping or sport fishing for sea bass, mackerel and some croakers.
She's 29 and living in a different country; he's been gone almost 17 years. I remember this shot like it was yesterday.
