Mirabell Palace was built in 1606 by prince-archbishop Wolf Dietrich for his beloved Salome Alt. Today, it serves as the backdrop for the most romantic weddings you could possibly imagine.

The palace was constructed according to a French prototype by the architect Nicodemus Tessin the Elder, by commission of Queen Hedvig Eleonora. Many royal personages have left their mark on the palace since then. The palace features magnificent salons from the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, a beautiful park, a unique palace theater and a Chinese Pavilion. The imposing Baroque garden was laid out beginning in 1681 according to drawings by Nicodemus Tessin the Younger. The palace and the park are mostly open to visitors year round (visitstockholm.com).

Mysore Palace is one of the most visited sites in India. On Sunday evenings and also during the ten day Dasara festival, the Palace is illuminated by over 98,000 lightbulbs. This is a shot of the main approach to the Palace with a full moon above. It is indeed a spectacular sight.

Schloss Troja Prag in Tschechien

Poppelsdorf Palace (German: Poppelsdorfer Schloss) is a Baroque building in the Poppelsdorf district of Bonn, western Germany, which is now part of the University of Bonn.

This is a luxury apartment building in West Vancouver, know as the Pink Palace, although its real name is The Villa Maris. It is considered the second most important architectural landmark in West Vancouver after the Lions Gate Bridge.

There is a three bedroom available for $4,200 a month - any takers?

Sadly, this building is going to be demolished by 2026 for, of course, more condos.

Earlier this evening, I took this photo at Belvedere Palace, in Vienna, Austria.

Goslar/Harz GER

The Imperial Palace of Goslar (German: Kaiserpfalz Goslar) is a historical building complex at the foot of the Rammelsberg hill in the south of the town of Goslar north of the Harz mountains, central Germany. It covers an area of about 340 by 180 metres. The palace grounds originally included the Kaiserhaus, the old collegiate church of St. Simon and St. Jude, the palace chapel of St. Ulrich and the Church of Our Lady (Liebfrauenkirche). The Kaiserhaus, which has been extensively restored in the late 19th century, was a favourite imperial residence, especially for the Salian emperors.

Kew Palace is a British royal palace within the grounds of Kew Gardens on the banks of the River Thames. Originally a large complex, few elements of it survive. Dating to 1631 but built atop the undercroft of an earlier building, the main survivor is known as the Dutch House.

Blenheim Palace, residence near Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England, built (1705–24) by the English Parliament as a national gift to John Churchill, 1st duke of Marlborough. During the War of the Spanish Succession, he had led the English to victory over the French and Bavarians at the Battle of Blenheim in Germany in 1704.

The palace was designed by Sir John Vanbrugh, with a great deal of involvement by Nicholas Hawksmoor, and is regarded as the finest example of truly Baroque architecture in Great Britain. (Source; Britannica)

Palácio Nacional da Pena

Sintra, Portugal

The foundation of Soestdijk Palace dates back to the seventeenth century and it was inhabited by members of the Royal Family until 2006. Ever since, the palace has been open to the public and offers tours that allow you to learn more about this majestic building.

Inhabitants of Soestdijk

Throughout the centuries, many members of the Royal Family have lived in the palace; from King Willem II and his wife Anna Paulowna in 1815 to Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard in 2004. During the French and German occupations, in 1795 and 1940 respectively, the palace was inhabited by army officers.

Tour at the Palace

Enjoy the historical ambiance at Soestdijk Palace and its green surroundings. You can only discover the palace with a guided tour. These tours are held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and reservations have to be made well in advance.

The castle stands on top of a hill in the Sintra Mountains above the town of Sintra. Sintra is less than a 1 hour drive from Lisbon. The Palace is a national monument and constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in the world. This is one of several palaces and castles in Sintra. Simply put, visiting Sintra is like stepping on a ferry tale.

We visited the Gyeongbokgung palace and were suprised by the amount of snow there. I think the palace must be on top of a hill.

What would London probably without Parliament and the Big Ben? Not only the building itself, but also the lives of all around me interested. As it is so famous among all these buildings to life? Clear I come from Bavaria, am so used to the old stuff around me and yet London is but a completely different world for me.
