Fire destroyed this wing of Falkland Palace.

I visitied the Nymphenburg Palace (German: Schloss Nymphenburg) in Munich on a cold night this week. It quite does not look as impressive as it is when your out there. The whole area is huge. In front of the palace there is a huge circle with big houses built in a symmetry star. I could not get into the backyard, but this is even larger.

Have a wonderful start into the weekend, folks.

Sunset at the Wilhelmsthal Palace. One of the most beautiful rococo palaces in Germany.

The Palace of the Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich was built in 1667-1672 by the order of the Tsar as a gala summer residence at the Tsar's Courtyard in Kolomenskoye. The palace served for the rest of the Tsar's family in the country, court ceremonies and reception of overseas ambassadors. The division of the palace into men's and women's half reflected the patterns of life of the Tsar's family in the XVII century. The men's half comprised the Tsar's and the Tsareviches' (the Tsar's sons") towers, while the women's half consisted of the Tsarina's (the Tsar's wife's) and the Tsarevnas' (the Tsar's daughters') towers. The courtier poet Simeon Polotsky referred to the palace as "the Eight Wonder of the World".

The palace building served its purpose for a hundred years, but eventually fell into disrepair and was dismantled in 1767 by the order of Empress Catherine II. Plans, descriptions and images of the palace have survived to our days.

In 2007 - 2010, the palace was reconstructed. The opening ceremony took place on 5th September 2010, on Moscow Day.

The Hofburg is the official residence and workplace of the President of Austria and was formerly the principal imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty. Located in the center of Vienna, it was built in the 13th century and expanded several times afterwards. It also served as the imperial winter residence, as Schönbrunn Palace was the summer residence.

The metal and glass components of the Palace were manufactured in 1879 in Saint-Saveur-les-Arras, France; that kind of building was opular in Europe after the Industrial Revolution.

In 1888, four years after opening, Princess Isabel held a spectacular party here; at that historical event, she granted freedom to several slaes, and that was a prelude to her signing, a few months later, the law which abolished slavery in Brazil.

HAVE A NICE DAY MY FRIENDS!

And so Tuor beheld a vision of Gondolin, once so beautiful and fair, now broken and covered in red hot flames and thick black smoke.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

They told me not to build all of Gondolin, so I had to scale down and just do the King's Square, with the images of the two trees upon King Turgon's Tower, which fell and caused his own death.

Ecthelion also, of the Fountain, faces Gothmog, Lord of Balrogs, with the spike upon his helmet. From the battle, Tuor the messenger of Ulmo, with his young child Eärendil, the hope of Elves and Men, just barely escapes. But that is for another time.

I’ve wanted to do a minifigure battle for so long. I felt like finally I had enough figs! I figured out I was wrong, but still, I did put a lot of figures into this… and that consumed more time than you would expect! And finally, this is the second full castle that I've ever made. Yes, it's the first full minifigure scale castle or keep that I've ever made! It was an immense endeavour, especially for just a couple weeks.

This is my entry to the Finale of MELO, which I am honoured to be able to compete in! I attempted to recreate each scene from a different book throughout the competition, thus this one is meant to be derived from the recent book, The Fall of Gondolin. I tried my best to make this version of the Palace of Gondolin resemble fair Tirion Upon Tuna, from the Undying Lands, as well as to capture the horrible moment of it's fearful betrayal and fall, while the last of the Greatest Noldor fought bravely and desperately to the last. I hope you like it! To God be all the Glory!

The Moors mostly stayed in southern Spain, but some managed to make it quite far north. This is one of the few remaining buildings from that era, built around the 11th century. Much of the inside is gone, but they've done a decent job at preserving and incorporating what's left.

This picture isn't about that though. This picture is about the light.

Lake Pichola is also called the Lake of Palaces. It is a man made lake, centuries old, surrounded on several sides by lovey mountains. It is definitely one of the most romantic places in the world and a pleasant respite of calm in the middle of the hustle and bustle of life in India.

With this post I will end my pictures of India, but with the promise that more will added in the months to come. After all, it is a photographer's paradise.

The Pena Palace is a Romanticist castle in São Pedro de Penaferrim, in the municipality of Sintra, on the Portuguese Riviera. The castle stands on the top of a hill in the Sintra Mountains above the town of Sintra, and on a clear day it can be easily seen from Lisbon and much of its metropolitan area. It is a national monument and constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in the world. The palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. It is also used for state occasions by the President of the Portuguese Republic and other government officials.

The castle's history started in the Middle Ages when a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Pena was built on the top of the hill above Sintra. According to tradition, construction occurred after an apparition of the Virgin Mary.

In 1493, John II, accompanied by his wife Leonor of Viseu, made a pilgrimage to the site to fulfill a vow. His successor, Manuel I, was also very fond of this sanctuary, and ordered the construction of a monastery on this site which was donated to the Order of Saint Jerome. For centuries Pena was a small, quiet place for meditation, housing a maximum of eighteen monks.

In the 18th century the monastery was severely damaged by lightning. However, it was the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, occurring shortly afterwards, that took the heaviest toll on the monastery, reducing it to ruins. Nonetheless, the chapel (and its works of marble and alabaster attributed to Nicolau Chanterene) escaped without significant damage.

For many decades the ruins remained untouched, but they still astonished young Prince Ferdinand. In 1838, as King consort Ferdinand II, he decided to acquire the old monastery, all of the surrounding lands, the nearby Castle of the Moors and a few other estates in the area. King Ferdinand then set out to transform the remains of the monastery into a palace that would serve as a summer residence for the Portuguese royal family. The commission for the Romantic style rebuilding was given to Lieutenant-General and mining engineer Wilhelm Ludwig von Eschwege. Eschwege, a German amateur architect, was much traveled and likely had knowledge of several castles along the Rhine river. The construction took place between 1842 and 1854, although it was almost completed in 1847: King Ferdinand and Queen Maria II intervened decisively on matters of decoration and symbolism. Among others, the King suggested vault arches, Medieval and Islamic elements be included, and he also designed an ornate window for the main façade (inspired by the chapter house window of the Convent of the Order of Christ in Tomar).

After the death of Ferdinand the palace passed into the possession of his second wife Elisa Hensler, Countess of Edla. The latter then sold the palace to King Luís, who wanted to retrieve it for the royal family, and thereafter the palace was frequently used by the family. In 1889 it was purchased by the Portuguese State, and after the Republican Revolution of 1910 it was classified as a national monument and transformed into a museum. The last queen of Portugal, Queen Amélia, spent her last night at the palace before leaving the country in exile.

The palace quickly drew visitors and became one of Portugal's most visited monuments. Over time the colors of the red and yellow façades faded, and for many years the palace was visually identified as being entirely gray. By the end of the 20th century the palace was repainted and the original colors restored.

In 1995, the palace and the rest of the Cultural Landscape of Sintra were classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The gardens of the Liechtenstein Garden Palace in the Rossau quarter constituted another focus of artistic interest on the part of Prince Johann Adam Andreas I von Liechtenstein. Together with the gardens of the Belvedere Palace, they were the most important example of Baroque horticultural art in Vienna.

Laid out at the turn of the 17th to the 18th century by the Parisian horticultural designer Jean Trehet (1654–1740) in typical contemporary style, the park contained large parterres de broderie with a variety of formal plantings, flanked on both sides by avenues of alternating horse chestnuts and firs, as well as a central pool with a fountain situated on the central axis.
