One of many signets that frequent the Palace Moat here in Wells, Somerset.

Mirabell Palace was built in 1606 by prince-archbishop Wolf Dietrich for his beloved Salome Alt. Today, it serves as the backdrop for the most romantic weddings you could possibly imagine.

This palace is about 40 minutes from Stockholm by metro and bus. The gardens are delightful.

Schloss Troja Prag in Tschechien

Christiansborg Slot (Christiansborg Palace) is a palace and government building on the islet of Slotsholmen in central Copenhagen, Denmark. It is the seat of the Danish Parliament (Folketinget)] the Danish Prime Minister's Office and the Supreme Court of Denmark. Also, several parts of the palace are used by the Danish monarch, including the Royal Reception Rooms, the Palace Chapel and the Royal Stables.

The palace is thus home to the three supreme powers: the executive power, the legislative power, and the judicial power. It is the only building in the world that houses all three of a country's branches of government. The name Christiansborg is thus also frequently used as a metonym for the Danish political system, and colloquially it is often referred to as Rigsborgen ('the castle of the realm') or simply Borgen ('the castle.

The present building, the third with this name, is the last in a series of successive castles and palaces constructed on the same site since the erection of the first castle in 1167. Since the early fifteenth century, the various buildings have served as the base of the central administration; until 1794 as the principal residence of the Danish kings and after 1849 as the seat of parliament.

The dramatic effects of running out of money during construction. Here at the Schloss Herrenchiemsee, Ludwig II overstretched his budget and only part of his home which was inspired by Versailles palace was completed.

It was fascinating seeing the two extremes, oh and no photography allowed inside the finished parts. The tour guide informed us after I took my first shot at the beginning of the tour. The unfinished parts can be photographed freely but it's bare brickwork.

The two images were combined and "printed" to jpeg in Lightroom, hence the lack of photo information, for those interested:

- the "after" was taken at ISO 400, 24mm f/4.0 @ 1/250sec, Time taken: 1:35 pm, 1st September 2019

- the "before" was taken later at ISO 400, 24mm f/5.6 @ 1/250sec. at 2:05pm

I guess it was a short tour lasting less than half an hour as only about only 6-7 rooms were completed at the time and are on show but they are all magnifiscent, shame they don't allow them to be photographed.

This is a luxury apartment building in West Vancouver, know as the Pink Palace, although its real name is The Villa Maris. It is considered the second most important architectural landmark in West Vancouver after the Lions Gate Bridge.

There is a three bedroom available for $4,200 a month - any takers?

Sadly, this building is going to be demolished by 2026 for, of course, more condos.

Palacio de la Magdalena Santander

www.flickr.com/photos/97664410@N02/15278423986/

The Palace of La Magdalena is the most emblematic building of the city of Santander and one of the most prominent examples of civil architecture in northern Spain. With a majestic landscape, it is situated at the highest point of the Peninsula bearing the same name. Its construction, between 1908 and 1912, following the plans of Gonzalo Bringas and Javier González de Riancho, resulted from a municipal initiative: the Town Council wanted to present Kings Alfonso XIII and Victoria Eugenia with a summer residence to consolidate the summer tradition that was taking root in the city and its province. The monarchs and their children spent their summers between 1913 and 1930 in Cantabria. Apparently, it was the Queen, called Ena in the privacy of her family, who especially enjoyed the landscape and the architecture, very close to those of her native England: writers and poets evoked her homesickness for the Isle of Wight and they actually associated it with her stay in Santander and her subsequent exile.

The castle stands on top of a hill in the Sintra Mountains above the town of Sintra. Sintra is less than a 1 hour drive from Lisbon. The Palace is a national monument and constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in the world. This is one of several palaces and castles in Sintra. Simply put, visiting Sintra is like stepping on a ferry tale.

We visited the Gyeongbokgung palace and were suprised by the amount of snow there. I think the palace must be on top of a hill.
