Here is a cropped shot of a Morecambe - Leeds service.

Whilst waiting on the empty Gypsum from Kirkby Thore ( it passed me whilst I was travelling south from Settle and was held at Settle Junction ) 142031 appears on the approach to Long Preston to the south of Settle Junction with 2Y55. This is the 1034 Morecambe to Leeds service worked by a Pacer on the 17th May 2017. It is seen passing here at 1148

“Pace” is the italian word for “Peace”.

Huddersfield and 144004 coughs into life. The Pacer unit will form the 16.03 service to Wakefield Kirkgate.

The backdrop is a fine building, the old goods shed?

A few pacers are in view at Sheffield, with the main focus being 142090. Unfortunately I didn't have time to capture the numbers of the other DMU's before catching my train. Behind the 153 is 144005. This photo was taken on 02/09/2019.

Allegorical figure of Peace by Leone Leoni. Part of the funerary monument of the condottiero Gian Giacomo Medici ("Il Medeghino"), brother of Pope Pius IV.

It just became so tiresome. At first exploiting his depression helped get the business going. But He just took all the fun out of devouring worlds. Even surfing the spaceways seemed to bring him down.

So It is time for a new partner. This one already knows how to surf, and he is apparently really mellow and happy. It will be a good change of pace.

To walk with your another half in the "life" road, you both must have the same pace, either one goes faster or slower, the other one need putting effort to catch up or wait. Otherwise the pace cannot be kept.

If it's the first week of May in the Bluegrass, it must be time for Kentucky Derby special train moves.

This year, the first move was RJ Corman's "Old Kentucky Dinner Train"--featuring a pair of ex-SOU F-units--ferrying from its home in Bardstown over to Lexington to prep for the big day.

Although it appears that we're flying, the CSX crew has the venerable F's pegged at the posted speed limit on the Main Line.

Arriving at Mytholmroyd from Manchester is Pacer No. 142017 piloting a Sprinter set. This photo shows the old platforms extending over the narrow road bridge which have been closed for many years. Now that longer platforms are needed, new extensions are being built at the other end of the station.

Another day of poor class 37 availability. Still, I get some more Pacer shots in the bag and saves the panic as they near the end on their lives, (if ever!!!). So, a set of Pacers work out of St Bees with 2C47, the 17:31 Barrow - Carlisle.

142063 leaves Dawlish while working an Exmouth-Paignton service on 7 April, 2010. Since scrapped in favour of Class 15X and 16X units, the much-derided ‘Pacers’ nonetheless proved well-suited to the Devon coastal service, their wide bus-type doors ideal for families laden with prams and beach paraphernalia.

My version of the British Pacer class 14x diesel railcar. Pacers or nodding donkeys were made in 1980s using bus bodies on 2 axle rail frames. The design provides a rough ride over switch points and rail joints. It also makes much squealing noise going through curves.

Just completed my second Ottawa marathon yesterday and boy, are my arms tired. It's not easy carrying all that camera gear for hours and photographing thousands of sweaty athletes. For those that have been following my stream for a while now, you may remember that I shot the 2008 ING Ottawa Marathon (See my 2008 race photos here). I was back at it again this year and will be posting my photos over the next week to 10 days days. Hope you enjoy!

Above, at the 31k mark, the pace cars guide lead runners Abraham Kebeto of Ethiopia, Ahmed Baday of Morocco and Wegayehu Girma, also of Ethiopia. Out of the frame, in sixth position, is David Cheruiyot who went on to win the race in 2:13:22.

Wasn't planning to take this so there's a bush in the way but I noticed the heron coming in stage right as the Pacer approached.

It's of no technical merit but might interest the ornithologist.

An Arriva Trains Wales class 144 Pacer DMU passes rows of terraced houses in Brithdir in the Rhymney Valley, on the Rhymney to Penarth service. The Pacer Class 144's are frequently used by Arriva Trains Wales on the Penarth to Bargoed and Rhymney services. They were built in Derby between 1986 and 1987 and will eventually be replaced when the Valley lines are electrified, scheduled between 2019 - 2024.

With a nice bit of light this morning I thought I'd make the trip out to the field next to the house for 144 006 working 2R48 Beverley - Sheffield. Vincent a rather cubby horse can be seen tucking into his breakfast. 10/10/18 Cottingham

This was originally a Big Star supermarket, which opened in May 1979 (the store was previously located a few tenants down next to the former Haynes Furniture, and they moved here so Haynes could expand into their former space). It has since housed:

*Farm Fresh (opened in May 1987, closed in March 1988)

*Office Warehouse (opened in November 1989, closed on July 3rd, 1992)

Now I decided, at the end of this year, to upload a few older pictures that I didn't upload yet, because I thought they wouldn't be good enough.

I took this one in May 2009 in the Walter zoo in Gossau Switzerland, this is the male Siberian tiger walking in his enclosure.
