Kawasaki P-2J was modernized Lockheed P-2 Neptune, whose original R-3350 radial-engines were updated to GE T64 turboprops and auxiliary Westinghouse J34 turbojet engines were altered to IHI J3 turbojets. This "4782" was deployed to JMSDF 1st Squadron No.7 air unit in Kanoya and it had taken part in the anti-submarine role until 1994.
