It was the 2nd time I visited this location. The first time I tried to visit it some weeks ago. After a long walk through the forest I entered the domain and immediately I saw a man walking there. He looked like a gardener or caretaker. He did not notice me but came walking my way. I freezed, and in seconds was overthinking my next move: Wait and hide or run back through the dense forest. In milliseconds I chose the seconds option and run through the forest. The man must have been thinking there was a pack of deer wandering the surrounding forest.

This second time I planned a day of exploring with a team mate who more or less found this castle himself. He already visited it three times, but I had to go there another time to get my pictures. So, my friend visited Château Henri for the 4th time

When we walked around the castle I noticed people inside. A lady with a big smile waved at us and we could enter the castle. We shook hands and found out that I know the guy who was there with his girlfriend. They come from Germany and we have had contact through Flickr and FB. It was very nice meeting each other and again this shows what a small world UE is.

We did our thing, and after some time we were done and left the castle. As we had lovely weather we all walked towards one of the pools to take some outside shots before we leave. Suddenly we heard the sound of a motorscooter and within no time there were two guys on a motorscooter in front of the castle. Damn, were fooked!! We slowly walked our way to the entrance, but 20 meters before we were there the motorscooter showed up and we were stopped. After some smarttalk the guys were more at ease. It was the gardener and one of his friends. The gardener looked after the castle for 22 years already. It was a very friendly guy, but still he called the police.

After waiting for 30 minutes I started to friendly annoy this gardener by asking him every 5 minutes where the police are. And everytime he excused himself and every time he called the police again where they were. I need to continue this, as the police will be fed up with the man at one time In the meantime we changed memorycards and decided what our story would be.

After 45 minutes the police arrived. My plan was to lie flat on our bellies and start photographing small flowers as soon as we saw the police. Unfortunately we didn’t After some ID checks our bags were opened (but not searched) and the gardener excused himself as he needed to do some groceries. Pretty awkward, but ok. And again, we were excused by the man that it took so long before the police came, and I started to feel sorry for the guy. But the best part is yet to come….

The police asked us where our cars are parked. Our German friends were parked two streets to the right, and we were parked two streets to the left. The officer decided to join the Germans and walked to their car for a small car search. We were asked to walk to our car and wait there until they come to us. I cannot believe this happened. If I had some contraband in the car I had plenty of time to hide it before our car was searched. I could have buried all AK-47′s which were hidden in my trunk before the police popped up. Unbelievable country this is…. We drank a cup of coffee together and headed towards the next location…

This castle was built in the 1930′s by the owner of a nearby textile company. It was in his posession till the 1990′s when the castle and it’s domain was sold to a wealthy couple. They completely redecorated the place for which they spent a little fortune. The long driveway was asphalted and the place was furnished with the most expensive furniture which fitted the design of the castle. After some time the couple got arrested for some reason and the castle was sold to a bank who wants to gain some of their money back which they lost to the couple. Unfortunately it is for sale already for some years, and with it’s price being around the € 3 million I guess it will be for sale for some time. Luckily the place is well maintained by the gardener, and really hope he will still have it’s job once the castle is sold…

Yeah, it's a bit over the top--but then, nothing exceeds like excess....

Starting to overthink the process again.

I was involved with a wonderful woman, for almost two years; he's the youngest of her three sons.

She's a sweet, beautiful, talented artist and teacher, and an exceptional single mom. I fell hard, and she and I found love; our youngest kids got to know each other. I went to his viola concerts and laughed at his jokes, and I didn't lie to him.

She and I just couldn't make it work; history and overtalking/overthinking, combined with a nice helping of (her) guilt and (my) fear finally helped wreck it. She chose to end our relationship this past summer, for reasons of her own.

Profoundly sad, and furious at myself barely scratches the surface, as far as how it felt then.

So I was left with my heart banged up, and with hundreds of images to discard from my hard drives. A modern relationship situation; all those damn digital files haunting me, reminding me of things undone and unwound.

Old love letters stay in their boxes, but iPhoto just throws it up in my face.

Like the projects done at her place and the gifts left behind for both of them, a few beautiful moments like this stay with me, though. Lots of good time spent; this was one moment that made it as a photograph, not just a deletable snapshot.

There is something between us, isn’t there?

A heat that burns like fire…

But not simply lust and desire

No… this is something more…

Something deeper I’ve never felt before

And it grips me, every time I look at you

Just tell me I’m not imagining this…

Tell me you feel it too

- Ranata Suzuki | Is this something?

I recently reconnected with an ex who I'm pretty sure doesn't deserve another chance, but I struggle with the thought of walking away from them. We were never seriously involved with each other but somehow always wound up coming back to one another. I'm just afraid it's a mistake because nothing feels different from the times we last spoke and how could I be happy now if I wasn't happy then. But I also feel like I'm overthinking this whole situation so much because we really haven't had many chances to get together with our work and life schedules so out of sync with one another. I feel like I'm the only one trying. I feel like these feelings aren't mutual.

Tell me you feel it too.

I hope none of you actually read this. I just need to vent even if I'm the only one listening.

'For 6th challenge of Buck Naked, we were asked to make artistic image using black and white photography. For my Challenge, I have chosen to recreate the image of 'The Thinker' by Rodin. This piece reminds me of myself at times as I often tend to overthink and keep me from letting thinking overwhelm all decisions.'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mere moments after I learned of the challenge, I had an inspiration and I submitted it less than 3 hours after the results post for the 5th challenge was up. XDD I mean - who better to act like a statue then a Gargoyle? Once I found the angle & posed him as I wanted, I grabed some packing material and a black t-shirt to cover it. If I'd given myself more time then I'd have made the rock more seperate from the backround so there was an actual floor instead of just t-shirt, but overall I was too pleased with as is to mess with it too much. Sometimes overthinking ruins lovely moments so I, for once, just went with my gut. And you know what? it was the right call.
(not to mention - easiest wardrobe yet! ;3 )
Today was frustrating for so many different reasons, but not as bad as yesterday.
I've always gotten along with teachers; maybe it's because usually, I'm consciensious and hard-working, and I tend to tiptoe along the right side of the behavioural line, but today I had two different run ins with two different teachers, and fair enough they're only doing their jobs, and yes, I was in the wrong, but the fact that one of them, my french teacher, couldn't just drop the issue and turned her rant at me (in front of others) into a personal attack really wound me up. She was entirely ignorant to the situation (I fell asleep in her lesson for a few minutes, and yes, that's rude, and I should have been listening) but she couldn't let the issue lie and just say 'don't do it again', she started having a go about the fact that doing six a levels was something I'd brought upon myself (which I'll be the first person to admit that it is!) but that that meant I deserved the stress I was under, and that I should expect no sympathy (...I didn't?) and that I should be expected to consistantly perform to a high standard in french (for one thing, I've been trying my best, and for another, I have to prioritse subjects like English), and that whatever was keeping me up at night, I should consider getting rid of. Goodness, yes, silly me. I'll just happily wave goodbye to this horrible, stressed out persona that overthinks every last part of the day and panics herself about everything and stays up until late doing assignments (ironically, usually french ones). I'll just forget all my troubles and sleep again! Why didn't I think of that before?
Honestly though, I know I'm ranting. But the way she spoke to me was just so blindly ignorant, and unfair. I apologised but she couldn't accept it - if she wasn't looking for an apology, what was she looking for? It just frustrated me so much.
Ironic situation number two; getting caught and reprimanded for skiving physical education... to do work. Oh yeah. I forgot that non-compulsory sports were so highly benificial when compared with two hours of studying for the exams I have in two weeks. Sorry, won't happen again ¬¬
GOTTA STOP VENTING ON FLICKR.
Sorrrrrrrry guyssss.
Uhm, anyway. This photo was just me playing with light. I've never ever worn my glasses on my flickr stream before. There's a treat.
Thank you all for being ridiculously lovely and understanding recently
During one of his Lake Woebegone monologues, Garrison Keillor, inspired by a family trip to Prague, wonders what would have happened if Kafka had married his first love and started a family. If only Kafka had kids, Keillor muses, if only he had such an obligation to think about and love somebody more than he thought about himself, maybe the world would have seemed less harsh and unwelcoming.
When I told my mother about Kierkegaard's decision to break off his engagement with Regine Olsen because he thought he was too much of a melancholic to make her happy, she shook her head and said, "What an idiot. He should have just went ahead and married her instead of overthinking it so much."
Why are we so quick to prescribe a family to treat the existential
sicknesses of others? Why do we treat solitude as a sickness in the first place? And why is it that, as we(I?) get older, we find loneliness harder and harder to bear and ourselves more and more convinced that the Garrison Keillors and mothers of this world are right?
Today is valentines day...who else agrees with me its the worst holiday ever?!?!?
So i dont know about everyone else but sometimes i feel like a little kid lost in a forrest where i used to find comferting and safe and now its turning into a place of dark shadows and confusion but i cant get out because the forrest needs me...This whole thing is a metaphor if anyone didnt get that
Anyways Valentines day is a stupid hallmark holliday that just shoves it in your face that your single and it is whole cheesy over do, if u love someone u should be willing to show it not on this stupid holiday but in ways they might not even realize, unless theyve changed
Self portrait inspired by Halloween and Buffy the Vampire Slayer's demons especially Anya (if anyone used to watch the show) she had such a veiny face when she transformed. The concept behind this photo was how occasionally I have so many thoughts and inspiration for new photos running through my head I feel like my brain will just pop if I don't do something as though it's all building up. So I translated it into art.
Leave a comment I'd love to hear from you.
OK, this isn't a great photo - in fact it's rubbish, but in the context of not over-thinking things this is my emoticon Mood Board for today: I'm rather nervous right now as I'm off to my first "proper" interview in years with a view to hopefully securing a (part-time) job as a TESOL/TEFL teacher (this means I'm a qualified Teacher of English to Speaker's of Other Languages). Fingers crossed that later today Up is the applicable emoticon and not Down or All-in-a-Tangle :-)
Did I say something wrong? Did you hear what I was thinking?
Did I talk way too long when I told you all my feelings that night?
Is it you? Is it me? Did you find somebody better?
Someone who isn't me, 'cause I know that I was never your type
Never really your type
Overthinking's got me drinking
Messing with my head, whoa
Tell me what you hate about me
Whatever it is, I'm sorry
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I know I can be dramatic
But everybody said we had it
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm coming to terms with a broken heart
I guess that sometimes good things fall apart
When you said it was real, guess I really did believe you
Did you fake how you feel when we parked down by the river that night?
That night?
That night when we fogged up the windows in your best friend's car
'Cause we couldn't leave the windows down in December
Whoa
Tell me what you hate about me
Whatever it is, I'm sorry
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I know I can be dramatic
But everybody said we had it
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm coming to terms with a broken heart
I guess that sometimes good things fall apart
I was really overthinking this topic today. I was about to give up when I saw my son come into the room. I thought I might as well make him useful whether he likes it or not! This is my grandpa's chair that has been sitting in the basement. I was trying to get something gritty as well as getting the definition of my son's back. My son is not thrilled with this shot but he just got himself extra computer time and his face is not visible so he's ok with the image.
It's been some time since I last went out with the 645 - or any camera in fact!
I sold my Zeiss Ikoflex, just never found myself wanting to use it due to the shutter and the way it operated, it was an impulse purchase and I find i'm much better suited with the 645 anyway.
Another trip to my local, Clouts wood and fired off a quick roll not really overthinking any particular shots just snapping what felt right.
This one immediately caught my eye, I can see a strange hooded/cloaked figure within the trunk, leaning over some other sort of cowering being/creature - creepy.
It was very nice meeting each other and again this shows what a small world UE is.
We did our thing, and after some time we were done and left the castle. As we had lovely weather we all walked towards one of the pools to take some outside shots before we leave. Suddenly we heard the sound of a motorscooter and within no time there were two guys on a motorscooter in front of the castle. Damn, were fooked!! We slowly walked our way to the entrance, but 20 meters before we were there the motorscooter showed up and we were stopped. After some smarttalk the guys were more at ease. It was the gardener and one of his friends. The gardener looked after the castle for 22 years already. It was a very friendly guy, but still he called the police.
After waiting for 30 minutes I started to friendly annoy this gardener by asking him every 5 minutes where the police are. And everytime he excused himself and every time he called the police again where they were. I need to continue this, as the police will be fed up with the man at one time In the meantime we changed memorycards and decided what our story would be.
After 45 minutes the police arrived. My plan was to lie flat on our bellies and start photographing small flowers as soon as we saw the police. Unfortunately we didn’t After some ID checks our bags were opened (but not searched) and the gardener excused himself as he needed to do some groceries. Pretty awkward, but ok. And again, we were excused by the man that it took so long before the police came, and I started to feel sorry for the guy. But the best part is yet to come….
The police asked us where our cars are parked. Our German friends were parked two streets to the right, and we were parked two streets to the left. The officer decided to join the Germans and walked to their car for a small car search. We were asked to walk to our car and wait there until they come to us. I cannot believe this happened. If I had some contraband in the car I had plenty of time to hide it before our car was searched. I could have buried all AK-47′s which were hidden in my trunk before the police popped up. Unbelievable country this is…. We drank a cup of coffee together and headed towards the next location…
This castle was built in the 1930′s by the owner of a nearby textile company. It was in his posession till the 1990′s when the castle and it’s domain was sold to a wealthy couple. They completely redecorated the place for which they spent a little fortune. The long driveway was asphalted and the place was furnished with the most expensive furniture which fitted the design of the castle. After some time the couple got arrested for some reason and the castle was sold to a bank who wants to gain some of their money back which they lost to the couple. Unfortunately it is for sale already for some years, and with it’s price being around the € 3 million I guess it will be for sale for some time. Luckily the place is well maintained by the gardener, and really hope he will still have it’s job once the castle is sold…
The title lyrics are obviously Gaga's. <3
We seem to live in a society where people are asked to love themselves, but as soon as they do, they are chastised. They're called conceited, they're called egotistical, self-centered.
My motives to do art as I do were questioned a couple of weeks ago, and it's not that I feel the need to justify myself — I don't need to — but there's something to be said about it. I chose to do self-portraiture as an art for a multitude of reasons, but one of them was the fact that as a photographer, I don't need to wait on a model. I'm a perfectionist and a solo worker, and I don't like to rely on anyone to do my art, so this is the perfect situation. If I succeed, it's all on me, if I fail the fault's all mine. That's how I like to work. But that was not the only reason.
I think a lot, I tend to overthink things, which is not the healthiest thing to do; one of the things I have always thought about too much was the way I presented myself to people. I thought so much about it that I ended up becoming unbearably awkward and at one point, I just didn't know who I was anymore. Self-portraiture started out as a solution to that: through photography, I could see who I was, I could test my limits and see just how far I could go. I could risk my life, see how much I'd undertake in the name of art. And the fun part is that I realized that the process never really ends. These days, two years after I started to take selfies for real, I still surprise myself, I still think 'whoa, I didn't know I had that in me'. Of course, I fail a lot as well, but that's part of the process. But what matters is that photography, self-portraiture in particular, taught me how to love myself. It became my lifeline, my proof of life. And no one has the right to question that.
On a different topic, I'm working with these fake vintage processings, but I'd love to have more people to photograph and try to do these kinds of things. So if you're in the area (Porto, Portugal) and are interested, PM me and maybe we can arrange something!
My Ten Things
I was tagged by Rantz - so I'm tagging ten (10) of my flickr friends who, in turn, will tag their flickr friends et cetera - if you're noted as being in in this photo, that means you're tagged.
1) I love all the shades of blue
2) I would go to the ocean every day if I could, and thought for years I would become a marine biologist
3) I have a difficult time being creative because I tend to overthink things
4) I love to travel, would love to criss-cross the world
5) I take pictures for many reasons, to capture memories, to share my world, to add some needed creativity to my life, to illustrate my articles, and to help other people illustrate their blogs and articles
6) I take pictures with a simple point-and-shoot, a Kodak EasyShare M853
7) I like just about every animal, even ones most people are afraid of, like lizards, snakes and spiders
8) I detest talking on the phone
9) I'm ridiculously crazy about rocks, trees, animals, nature
10) I'm taking a picture a day for 2010
Now it's your turn to make a list of ten things about yourself, then send it to ten of your Flickr friends
It was the 2nd time I visited this location. The first time I tried to visit it some weeks ago. After a long walk through the forest I entered the domain and immediately I saw a man walking there. He looked like a gardener or caretaker. He did not notice me but came walking my way. I freezed, and in seconds was overthinking my next move: Wait and hide or run back through the dense forest. In milliseconds I chose the seconds option and run through the forest. The man must have been thinking there was a pack of deer wandering the surrounding forest.
This second time I planned a day of exploring with a team mate who more or less found this castle himself. He already visited it three times, but I had to go there another time to get my pictures. So, my friend visited Château Henri for the 4th time
I was thinking
overthinking
cause there's just too many scenarios
to think about
to figure out
if you're my dream please come true
I am an overthinker. I think too much and I can't quit it. I am an addict to my brain. I want to know everything about everything.
Personal site
I never really worry that I'll have trouble finding a boy to marry me, if I'm ever in the market again. I disassemble and paint my own electronics, for God's sake. (It's actually automobile vinyl color, which doesn't build up like paint and molds perfectly to all the little details, so it appears to have been made in this color.)
The idea was to make my alphasmart more like a personal notebook--funky stickers (which I took enormous care not to overthink, or getting them all lined up would have driven me crazy ... I basically just decided that keepin' it real equated smushing them onto the keys with my thumb) and purty colors. I wanted a sort of visual uniqueness that is actually psychologically important, when you work at home and have difficulty switching tasks. I wasn't just painting for fun, but to create a visual cue; I see that robin's egg blue and I know it's time to write.
I like that the blue paint and the stickers combine to give it a sort of retro "ancient office equipment" feel, complete with spaces between the letters. The underside is "envy green," a neon green that peeks out on the sides, just to update the look a little.
I'm very happy with how it turned out. Word to the wise: You will suffer 182 stages of panic as you apply thin coat after thin coat and the color hardly changes--or changes to a pukey color from the black showing through. The bright green especially looked absolutely horrid for most of the day! Just keep going and hope for the best.
I figured out a plan of attack with inspiration from this pioneer in Alphasmart pimpage: flickr.com/photos/vrf/148170146/
Is it just me or are men that do housework sexy??
This artwork is a visual metaphor for the way my mind works — especially when I’m in a creative or hyperfocused state.
Some people experience thoughts in a calm, linear flow.
Mine is… different.
My brain feels more like this image:
a swirling purple vortex of ideas, emotions, sparks, symbols, intuition, and creative energy all moving at once.
It’s not chaotic in a negative way — it’s alive, fast, multi-layered, and constantly generating new connections.
The runes and symbols represent the tiny thought-fragments I process simultaneously.
The purple lightning stands for sudden inspiration bursts.
The forest and roots symbolize how grounded and calm I may look on the outside, while inside, a whole universe is spinning.
And the central vortex is the “core” — the place where my imagination, hyperfocus, and intensity meet.
For people who don’t know me personally:
I’m someone who thinks deeply, quickly, and continuously.
It can be overwhelming at times, but it’s also the source of my creativity, my art, my worlds, and the style behind everything I make.
This is not “overthinking.”
This is simply how I am wired — and why my images, my characters, and my ideas carry so much detail, energy, and emotion.
If you’ve ever wondered what the person behind my artwork is like…
this is the closest visual representation of my mind you’ll ever see.
And just so you know — despite all of this,
I’m really just a simple, down-to-earth guy.
— Amon the Purple
This state can be powerful, but it’s not something I try to live in constantly.
I guess it was just one of those nights that called for a little photoshoot. Sitting alone at home wasn`t helping. I was making myself sad over ... I don`t even know what I`m sad about anymore. I guess it was just one of those moments where I was overthinking everything and filling my head with dark thoughts. I felt myself almost tear up while watching a TV show and I don`t cry. I`m notorious among my friends for being the "emotionless one" or "the robot" because I don`t feel anymore. The stuff I`ve dealt with just makes everything else seem not as sad anymore.
I have ways to blow off steam, to clear my head. And one of these is to go for a walk by myself. I figured doing this would be okay since I`d be walking around with a big heavy tripod if anyone tried attacking me kekekeke
Phew
I have some outtakes but I might upload them.
Lalala why is it getting so freakin warm?! It is January.
I'm done being serious. Bring on the cameras!
Have I told you before that when I was young I wanted to become a cameraman? That was well before I got into the gambling, investing and web publishing business.
Nowadays I get inspiration from vloggers like @caseyneistat and @jonolsson1 and learn cinematography by @philipbloom @cadevisuals and @eskildfors to name a few.
The thing is I want to combine all of that. That is, to have fun filming, editing and grading the footage, creating short videos in which I'll discuss the iGaming and finance industry among others. Heck, I also want to talk about how I run my business to maybe inspire other people to take control of their lives and build their own dream instead of being hired by others to build theirs - don't trade your time for money.
And that's a lot. It's overwhelming to the point I'm overthinking everything about it and do nothing.
Yet, any action is better than no action. And needs to be done NOW!
But there's one more thing: I don't sell anything.
Thus, I could not spend my time on this hobby, without making sure I can provide for my family first. So, having made some improvement there, I may give it another go now.
Stay tuned and stop being so serious. We only have one, simple, short life. Why so serious?
I feel like "melted snowman" is sort of a poor term anyway, my thought on that being if the snow were melted, it would be liquified (or evaporated!) not sitting on crunchy snow.... I know I'm overthinking this. Anyway. This one will be my sister's, in all greens.
BOX DATE: 2012
MANUFACTURER: Mattel
DOLLS IN LINE: Lagoona; Howleen; Gigi; Twyla
PERSONAL FUN FACT: Twyla has one of the cutest pet ideas ever....she has a pet dust bunny!!!!! The bunny itself is a little on the creepy side, but I guess that suits the "creepy cute" Monster High theme. As a compulsively clean person, it is a bit disturbing that Twyla would feed a ball of dust. How does she bathe her dust bunny? Wouldn't that just turn her into mud?!! Perhaps I'm overthinking this. I'm just glad that this pet is a plastic dust bunny, and not constructed of real debris. I really love the style of Twyla's shoes--they are little booties, which remind me a lot of my Tarzan Jane doll's shoes (but way cooler). Her outfit is very interesting as well. I appreciate that it is dark purple, unlike Twyla's skin, which is light purple. Her skirt also has a lot of fabulous texture, which makes Twyla really stand out when she's wearing it!
This castle was built in the 1930′s by the owner of a nearby textile company. It was in his posession till the 1990′s when the castle and it’s domain was sold to a wealthy couple. They completely redecorated the place for which they spent a little fortune. The long driveway was asphalted and the place was furnished with the most expensive furniture which fitted the design of the castle. After some time the couple got arrested for some reason and the castle was sold to a bank who wants to gain some of their money back which they lost to the couple. Unfortunately it is for sale already for some years, and with it’s price being around the € 3 million I guess it will be for sale for some time. Luckily the place is well maintained by the gardener, and really hope he will still have it’s job once the castle is sold…
And again, we were excused by the man that it took so long before the police came, and I started to feel sorry for the guy. But the best part is yet to come….
The police asked us where our cars are parked. Our German friends were parked two streets to the right, and we were parked two streets to the left. The officer decided to join the Germans and walked to their car for a small car search. We were asked to walk to our car and wait there until they come to us. I cannot believe this happened. If I had some contraband in the car I had plenty of time to hide it before our car was searched. I could have buried all AK-47′s which were hidden in my trunk before the police popped up. Unbelievable country this is…. We drank a cup of coffee together and headed towards the next location…
This castle was built in the 1930′s by the owner of a nearby textile company. It was in his posession till the 1990′s when the castle and it’s domain was sold to a wealthy couple. They completely redecorated the place for which they spent a little fortune. The long driveway was asphalted and the place was furnished with the most expensive furniture which fitted the design of the castle. After some time the couple got arrested for some reason and the castle was sold to a bank who wants to gain some of their money back which they lost to the couple. Unfortunately it is for sale already for some years, and with it’s price being around the € 3 million I guess it will be for sale for some time. Luckily the place is well maintained by the gardener, and really hope he will still have it’s job once the castle is sold…
I think we have all our bases covered, or do we?
Let's not overthink this!
We seem to be in the clear just after suppertime following some heavy thunderstorm action & downpours we just don't need.
