16.3.1997 Passenger Terminal - Keswick - South Australia Overland car - sleeper lettering (p0111775_k)
After just traveliing on the Rails in the Foreground, Dx5304 heads 201, the Southbound Overlander away from Hunterville. Dx's are usually not used on the Overlander and more interestingly Dx5304 is a South Island Loco.
Rumours say that it will be heading to the Workshops soon to have an Overhaul.
The Overlander (07:25 AKL -> WLG) passes by SH1 under diesel power 'under the wires'. Further down the road were the OHL Maintenance gang and it was a Sunday.

Just 12 miles outside of Kansas City, Mo., is the lovely community of Overland Park, Kan. This family-friendly suburb in America's heartland has a four-season climate and is opening a 12-field, artificially turfed, fully lit soccer complex in the late summer. "Soccer is a big sport in this community," says Mayor Carl Gerlach. Meanwhile, at the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead, kids can visit nearly 200 farm animals, toss a bobber into a fishing pond, or take a ride in a horse-drawn wagon. The 17-mile-long Indian Creek Trail makes for a great bike ride. At the same time, sports fans are only a short car ride away from a Kansas City Chiefs football game or a Kansas City Royals baseball game. In addition, "we have three different school districts in Overland Park," Gerlach says. "All three have been nationally ranked and won awards."
The amazing folks at the Antique Cars group have identified this car as a 1918 Willys-Overland. "Stereo View #1 of a 1918 Willys-Overland" is another photography of this car.
The 5X7 inch glass stereo negative belongs to the same group as the views of the boating party. Note the shadow of the camera, tripod, and photographer's arm making the exposure.
We are lucky enough to get ducks visiting our backyard from time to time (Overland Park, KS). My son named them from the Disney show "Jake & the Neverland Pirates."
