Crocus tommasinianus, the woodland crocus, early crocus, or Tommasini's crocus, is a flower named after the botanist Muzio G. Spirito de Tommasini (1794-1879). It is native to Bulgaria, Hungary, Albania, and the former Yugoslavia. It is often referred to as the early or snow crocus, but these terms are shared with several other species, although C. tommasinianus is amongst the first to bloom. Multiple plants are often called tommies in the horticultural trade.
It is a cormous perennial of the genus Crocus in the family Iridaceae with a lilac flower, and is one of the smaller of the cultivated species. It has slender flowers about 2–4 cm (1–2 in) long, with white perianth tubes, petals (6) pale silvery lilac to reddish purple, while the outer petals may be overlaid with silver and darker tips. A variant, C. tommasinianus f. albus, is white. Its cultivars are used as ornamental plants. Height: 3 in (76 mm)

I experimented with this image. I arrived later than anticipated because I spent to much time shooting goats - so the sun was brighter than expected.
To compensate the stronger light - I decided to take two images of the falls - one using the automatic feature on my camera and then use the long exposure settings (f 5.6, 1/80 sec., ISO 100, (28-300 zoom2 33.mm on Canon 5D_Mark IV).
Then in PS I overlaid the two images - resulting with an HDR effect.
Give me Something Good
Sometimes, you can ask and it will happen... As I was shooting bleak sky scenes at sunset, I looked around in the Eastern Sky where there was no sun or moon. The clouds instead had painted a wonderful version of a sunrise on the horizon. I made 2 versions of this event. This one is a highly edited version overlaid with the original photo.
This was taken off Vilano Point, Florida, USA... Not Algeria, lol

The Cube Orange project comes from the Parisian studio Jakob+MacFarlane Architects and is part of the urban interventions of the old port of Lyon on the banks of the Saône , at a point called Confluence , because the Saône joins the Rhone right here.
This port area consisted of warehouses such as Sucrière, les Douanes, les Salins, the Capitainerie, which architects and landscape designers have reinterpreted to offer new sustainable spaces, avant-garde architecture and lots of greenery.
The Cube Orange is built on a regular grid (29 x 33 m) of concrete pillars on 5 levels. It has a light façade overlaid with another perforated façade with pixelated patterns that reflect the movement of the river. The orange colour is symbolic of red lead paint, an industrial colour used for port areas.

Original is a shot of orange dailyness against a white wall. My plan was to layer the shots to tone down the white wall, and then erase the rest of the duplicate. But, you never know what you'll get with layering an image over itself. This time, I flipped my shot (horizontally, but it works vertically, too), then I layered the flipped shot over the original at about 50%. Sometimes, it's nothing, but often a nice abstract results. And close to St. Pat's Day, I guess you get a leprechaun - totally unplanned. lol! Happy sliding serendipity!
I'm quite chuffed with this one due to creating it half cut. I now have the night off. Happy days.

This delicate and fragile Easter egg has been painted completely by hand in a beautiful Art Nouveau style, known as Arts and Crafts Movement or “Style Liberty” in the United Kingdom. The egg has a background of rich cobalt blue which is decorated with a mixture of stylised white and blue flowers in a William Morris style and then overlaid with tiny gold flecks. The egg is then covered in a varnish to protect the fragile hand painted surface.
The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for the 31st of March is "a single egg". This egg, perched atop a small porcelain rest, has a small puncture at both the top and the bottom, indicating that it was “blown”, a tradition where one blows the white and yolk of the egg through the hole in the bottom by way of exhaling into the hole at the top. A time consuming method, egg blowing must be done gently so as not to break the fragile egg shell by applying too much pressure. It can take well over an hour to blow a single egg. The paper I have chosen for the background is William Morris’ 1875 “Marigold” pattern which I thought suited this Style Liberty Easter egg. I hope you like my choice of the theme this week, and that it makes you smile.

Happy 10 years to Macro Mondays group and here's to many more.
For my party picture I went for the good old party popper but I wanted to capture it at the popping stage.I tried many times to capture it but with out the proper triggers you just can't do it unless you have super human abilities : )
So I created my own with some bent wires overlaid with the streamers and added the spark with the same set up as I used for last weeks theme.
9 different snaps of construction images wit different filters collaged
then, overlaid wit 3D Fractals for a double collage
Lemon Orange Lime ... for April Fools theme Macro Monday.
One of my possible submittal items for the theme. Single capture with some photoshop where I overlaid two additional images using the hue slider in Lightroom to get the additional fruity flavors.
Just makes my mouth water thinking about the three flavors all together at once :)
After my abysmal attempt to incorporate the peacock into my rose shot, I took the advice of Rod and Di (www.flickr.com/people/9019403@N03/) and have tried it on my blue orchid!
Ascocenda, abbreviated as Ascda in the horticultural trade, was a man-made hybrid orchid genus resulting from a cross between the former genus Ascocentrum and Vanda (Asctm × V). Ascocentrum is now synonymous with Vanda, so the name is obsolete. Hybrids in the nothogenus × Ascocenda are now properly termed Vanda. × Ascocenda hybrids are common in cultivation with numerous cultivars and often combine the large flower size of the Vanda parents with the color and compactness of the Ascocentrum parents. They are evergreen compact epiphytes with upright, narrow, oviform leaves. The inflorescence is an axillary cluster with 6 to 8 open flowers. They bloom twice or sometimes three times a year with long lasting flowers. The flowers are brightly colored, often overlaid with contrasting colors. 31455
Each landscape has a language of its own
rooted in time, evolved from a bedrock
lexicon lying deep beneath the surface
but overlaid with the lilts and accents,
the gestures and expressions of the sky
and sea, the twisting rivers which shape
the rugged highlands, lowlands, distant plains.

There are 85 known species of Adelpha, all but two of which are confined to Central and South America. The butterflies are characterised by having a distinctive blackish marbled pattern overlaid on a brown ground colour; and by the presence of a broad orange or white band on the forewings. The hindwings of most species have a white median band.
Adelpha alala is confined to the Andes mountains, and occurs in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and north-west Argentina. This is a pre-montane and lower cloudforest species, occurring at altitudes between about 400-2600m on the eastern slopes of the Andes.

With the flower of summer a memory of the past, the sun peaks through the clouds as the new year’s day dawns while the moon has yet to fade, just after midnight a glass is poured for this New Year’s pleasure………………… HAPPY NEW YEAR and may the sun shine upon you. Started with a photo of a cloudy sky and overlaid the flower and then faded it in, then overlaid the sun coming up and peeking through the clouds and then added some color using a color mixer layer, added the moon layer and another color mixer layer, added the wine glass, took a photo of cement and added it as a texture and added the photo of Reno and the text plus some other minor adjustments, all in Photoshop for Slider Sunday…………………… HSS

This very young Bald Eagle was resting in a tree at Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge. The plumage of the immature Bald Eagle is a dark brown overlaid with messy white streaking until the fifth (rarely fourth, very rarely third) year, when it reaches sexual maturity. It has been very exciting to see the Bald Eagle’s return to the Sacramento area. The nice part about the Sacramento NWL Refuge is that social distancing is at its best as you must stay in your vehicle.
Kristiansand is strategically located on the Skagerrak, and until the opening of the Kiel Canal between the North Sea and the Baltic was very important militarily and geopolitically. This meant that for centuries it served as a military stronghold, first as Harald Fairhair's royal residence, then as a Danish-Norwegian fortress, and later as a garrison town. Kristiansand is a gateway to and from the continent, with ferry service to Denmark and a terminus of the railway line along the southern edge of South Norway.
Geologically, this part of Agder is part of the Swedo-Norwegian Base Mountain Shield, the southwestern section of the Baltic Shield, and consists of two main geological formations of Proterozoic rocks that were formed in the Gothic and later Swedo-Norwegian orogenies, with significant metamorphism during the latter.[13] There is a substrate of 1,600–1,450 million-year-old slate, quartzite, marble and amphibolite with some hornblende gneiss, and overlaid on this acidic surface structures of both granite and granodiorite (in general 1,250–1,000 million years old, in some places 1,550–1,480 million years old). The Bamblefelt geological area starts to the east of the municipality and extends to Grenland.
The last Swedo-Norwegian formations are evident in large formations of granite. There are also incidences of gabbro and diorite, less commonly eclogite. The Caledonian orogeny did not affect this area. Faults run southwest-northeast.[14] In ancient times there was a volcano off Flekkeroy, which left deposits of volcanic rock just north of central Kristiansand, on the site of the estate of Eg, now occupied by the Hospital of Southern Norway.
Near the city, there are deep woods. In Baneheia and at the former coastal artillery fortress on Odderøya, there are lighted ski trails and walking paths specially prepared for wheelchair users.
Two major rivers, the Otra and the Tovdalselva, flow into the Skagerrak at Kristiansand. wikipedia

The Golden Temple, also known as Harmandir Sahib, meaning "abode of God" or Darbār Sahib, meaning "exalted court" , is a Gurdwara located in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India.[It is the holiest Gurdwara and the most important pilgrimage site of Sikhism.
The temple is built around a man-made pool (sarovar) that was completed by Guru Ram Das in 1577. Guru Arjan – the fifth Guru of Sikhism, requested Sai Mir Mian Mohammed – a Muslim Pir of Lahore to lay its foundation stone in 1589. In 1604, Guru Arjan placed a copy of the Adi Granth in Harmandir Sahib, calling the site Ath Sath Tirath (lit. "shrine of 68 pilgrimages"). The temple was repeatedly rebuilt by the Sikhs after it became a target of persecution and was destroyed several times by the Muslim armies from Afghanistan and the Mughal Empire. Maharaja Ranjit Singh after founding the Sikh Empire, rebuilt it in marble and copper in 1809, overlaid the sanctum with gold foil in 1830. This has led to the name the Golden Temple.

A painted version was overlaid upon my original photograph, entitled "Dusk". This showed an area which has returned to its natural flora. After applying a 50% transparency to the top, painted layer the two layers were merged (flattened) and then a "Twirl distortion" was applied in Photoshop. No reason. It just is. Like me.
One of my favourite tree silhouettes, mirrored and overlaid on an unslid sunrise from a few days ago - HSS!
I was lucky I'd actually created this yesterday, as my laptop has died! I've had terrible trouble trying to upload this via my tablet, which is very new to me (Xmas present), so bear with me if I don't comment very much. I think our network is having issues too.

used filters for the left half to blend them together to create my canvas

The theme for “Smile on Saturday” for the 6th of May “Blue for You – ME 2023” which is in honour of ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia International Awareness Day which happens to fall on May 12th. May the 12th was chosen as it coincided with the birth date of Florence Nightingale, the celebrated English social reformer and statistician, and the founder of modern nursing. Nightingale became chronically ill in her mid-thirties after returning from the Crimean War; the M.E.-like illness often left her bedridden during the last 50 years of her life.
As the theme for “Smile on Saturday” this week was open to subject but required a lot of blue, I thought I would submit another of my ornamental eggs, all of which just happen to be blue! This egg, perched atop a small porcelain rest, has a small puncture at both the top and the bottom, indicating that it was “blown”, a tradition where one blows the white and yolk of the egg through the hole in the bottom by way of exhaling into the hole at the top. With hills, water and classical architecture overlaid by a fabulous collection of trees and shrubs, Stourhead was described as ‘a living work of art’ when first opened in the 1740s. Meandering paths offer vistas through trees to classical temples and surprises at every turn. Stourhead is breathtaking in any season but on sunny spring and autumn days, the flowering spring shrubs and the flaming autumnal colours of the trees reflected in the magnificent lake are breathtaking.

This dike section is located along the Wevers and Flaauwersinlaag, Heerenkeet and Polder Schouwen.
It’s located on the Oosterschelde on the island of Schouwen-Duiveland, approximately halfway between the Oosterscheldekering and Zierikzee.
The current dike has an asphalt revetment that has already been overlaid with rubble and has been penetrated with vertical strips. It is therefore not a set cladding and therefore does not fall within the Seawalls Project. The covering is brought to safety during the execution. The dike fall and the remains of the old sea dike with the foreland are the focus of the ecological project "rich dike". It is also recommended to combine these activities resulting from this with the improvement of the revetment in adjacent sub-areas. It has been proposed to install a sand bank at the rear of this refuge (in front of the dike). This functions as a sand motor to maintain the salt marsh between the old dike remains. To prevent the sand from being washed away too quickly, a breakwater of released limestone has been provided between these old dike remains. A memo describes the breakwater design.
The Flaauwershaven is a special object, the design for this is not elaborated in the general memorandum. A separate design note has been drawn up for this. These activities will be taken into account simultaneously with the improvement of the cladding. The adjustments to the port area are being carried out in collaboration with the Van Zierik tot Zee project.
In the past it was a work harbor, and nicer for a photo then on this moment.

Punakaiki is the gateway to the dramatic limestone country of the Paparoa National Park. It lies halfway between Greymouth and Westport on one of the most spectacular coastal highways in New Zealand.
The Pancake Rocks that Punakaiki is famous for, are limestone formations that began forming 30 million years ago, when lime-rich fragments of dead marine creatures were deposited on the seabed, then overlaid by weaker layers of soft mud and clay.
The seabed was raised above sealevel by earthquakes to form the coastal cliffs and coastline. The sea, wind and rain have since etched out the soft layers to form the unusual rock formations we see today.
When conditions are right, heavy ocean swells thunder into the caverns beneath the rocks and huge water spouts blast skywards through the blowholes in a truly spectacular sight.
