I went to Milarrochy Bay yesterday to shot the famous tree in the water, only to discover that it was about 3 feet out of the water! So I found this nice little composition instead.

Skeppsbron is both a street and a quay in Gamla stan, the old town of Stockholm. Watching the sunrise at Skeppsbrokajen that runs along the street has a unique feel like no other. Here is a picture of how it looks like.
Okay, it's not actually within our backyard, but it's just beyond it. The yard behind our house borders a large park that is just being developed. The park was recently seeded, and the straw was put down as mulch. I took this shot while standing on our backyard deck. I think these Sandhill Cranes must have been eating the grass seed.
I know that there's not a lot going on in this image. But I rather like the repetitive poses of the birds, and I thought it was kind of cool that I could get this shot without leaving home, so I decided to go with it. The abundance of Sandhill Cranes in the area near our new home in Michigan has been one of the pleasant surprises of living here.
Unusually bright and colourful late afternoon in the local woods in what is otherwise the worst, dull, grey and damp month of the year.

I was laying on the rocks for quite a while and the Curlew came closer and closer. When he was real close he stretched out. What a bonus.
October waved goodby with sunshine and warm tempereratures and we used the perfect weather for an extended hiking tour on the Wittedindsweg, a crest trail on the Wiehengebirge from Porta Westfalica in the East to the Osnabrück area in the West. Before the sun went down we visited the most interesting spots of the Eastern part of the trail.

I drove down Glen Etive to take a few shots at the loch. I passed a few deer on the way and they did not seem that bothered by my presence, although they were mostly in the woods without much of a backdrop. I got out to take a shot of one of these deer and was about to change my lens as I still had my wide angle on, when this stag wandered into view without realising I was standing there. I don't know who was more suprised! He stared at me and I fired off a couple of quick shots. He was gone within seconds.
Just 4 hours later and 50 km south to the previous picture November reality has come back again. Clouds and wind around the Hücker Moor, Ostwestfalen, Germany

I've been driving through lots of rain the past couple of days, and on a very tight schedule, so pulled up this winter shot taken near Winnemucca Nevada taken back in January 2013. I'm near Chicago today, but heading to the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area later today. Hopefully some photo opportunities today.
