Recently the field of theoretical cosmology has been enervated by the suggestion that our universe is the mirror image of another one stretching back in time before the Big Bang (see, for example, www.research.ed.ac.uk/en/publications/icpti-symmetric-uni... ).
Intrigued, I set out to test whether this was observable in practice. After a quick calculation on the back of an old envelope (cigarette packets now being not Politically Correct) I worked out that conditions would be favourable for an experiment in the period around the vernal equinox for my latitude (51N). At this time the angles of the Earth’s gravitational field, the neutrino flux from the sun and a local EM field could be arranged to the optimum.
So, setting a sufficiently powerful Tesla coil in a glass envelope with an inert gas (I used Nitrogen), I tried it out.
And it worked!
Sometimes I could actually see the dim reflection of the alternate universe appear in the glass capsule, but perhaps the best result was this one where I managed to create a wormhole bridging the paired universes.
If you look carefully at the image though you might observe that the energetic feedback created by the wormhole burnt out my coil… such are the sacrifices of science…

Storytelling idiocy aside, this image was one of the fun results of an evening spent with a local friendly group of photographers taking images of lightbulbs on tablets (and other things but I didn’t get that far :( ).
I used a clear glass bulb on my iPaddle which I set up to show some very colourful graphic images that I had generated using Midjourney (I finally found something useful to do with that toybox… The text prompt for this one, if you are interested, was ‘Close - up macro HDR photograph of the centre of mirrored 3D circle sculptures, overlapping rainbow circular fractal, vivid rainbow colours, graphic abstract’).
The bulb was lying on its side at an angle resting on the bayonet fitting so I made the canvas larger and rotated it. Starting in Capture One I dropped the greys to black using a levels adjustment and played with the Clarity and a little Dehaze. In Affinity I sharpened it with High Pass/Linear blend and a bit of Unsharp mask and enriched the colour. Then quite a lot of work with inpainting to remove the vestiges of the iPad and a lot of dust.
PS I forgot to mention that this was a focus stack of ten images, though I suspect only four or five contributed anything useful. The camera did the focusing and I used Helicon Focus for the stacking, which I've not really done before (it was fast, worked with raws and produced a dng output).
Thanks for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Easter and 100x :)

These live on trees and sleep under the bark so what it was doing in Camerahouse Foto Supplies yesterday remains a mystery. It was caught by a photographer and bought to me in a little film canister with little breathing hole in top...
These get pretty big for an Aussie Jumper and also when they move they seemingly have 1 gear R and I think R is for race mode!!
They are a pretty challenging one to Photograph sometimes.
I asked it why it did not bring me the Om1 mkii but at the time of posting this I am still waiting for a response.
I made this hand held stack using my Diffuser.
I left WB as is and did not tweak color in any way.
The editing is minimal
There is no removing of concentrated light in the catch lights in Adobe PS.
Happy with the new version of CJ diffuser. It is not as tall and not as long. I have learned a lot while developing it. The final diffusion system is 1 panel but it is a 3 stage layer thickness to make sure it is cutting light more where the brightest part is to make it as even as I can across the frame without sacrificing output from the flash. Hey I want my battery to last as long as possible (longer shooting) and I dont want to melt my flash either.
Since a macro diffuser is a direct system ( I love indirect studio softboxes ) a lot of diffusers have hotspots to some degree.
Not CJ Diffuser V2.
To my knowledge the stuff (Thermoplastic Polyurethane)I have used is not being used by anyone else. It is very strong , heat and cold resistant and also chemical and uv resistant.

Have a nice day
Ford had a number of leftover 1942 body parts that went into 1946 Ford models. Henry Ford II got the first postwar car into production, and the very first one -- a white Super DeLuxe Tudor sedan assembled on July 3, 1945 -- went to President Harry Truman. Alas, only 34,439 more were assembled during the 1945 calendar year, but it was the quick return to production that put Ford ahead of Chevrolet.
However, there was no end of problems with the War Production Board, which controlled output and materials supplies, and the Office of Price Administration, which put many controls on the price of parts and cars. Henry Ford II claimed that he was losing $300 per car because he couldn't achieve volume production, and indeed the company was hemorrhaging about $10 million per month at one point.
The pent-up market created an unprecedented demand for new cars. Ford's advertising agency, J. Walter Thompson, created a brilliant teaser campaign: "There's a Ford in your future." Until July, it showed only parts of the "new" Ford in a crystal ball; then there a publicity blitz culminating in "V-8 Day" on October 26, 1945. More than a million Americans flocked into showrooms for the public introduction, and nearly half a million promptly placed their orders.

The simplest control you can use over an electrical device is digital output. In this case, you would either turn something off, or on.

A bit of a different image for today. Some time ago, I got it in my head to get back to film photography. I started in film and craved the systematic nature of it. I first tried to get hold of a 35mm SLR or range finder, but I wanted to play with medium format. So after a bit of experimentation, I purchased a Bronica 6x6 camera from my local used camera store with a 135mm lens. It took me a while to take the camera out, but I bought the camera along during a trip to Boxley valley and managed to take some pictures.
I didn’t have high hopes for the results, but medium format film is demanding. The steps needed to take each shot are way more than what I had to do with film SLRs. However, it's still intimidating, and I have lost quite a few pictures due to the incorrect installation of the dark slider. It's also hard to meter every shot when you come from DSLRs and assume the exposure settings are already applied. I have posted pictures of this abandoned farm building previously, but the output from the film looked much better. It took me almost a year and a half to process these images, but I see more medium format content on Flickr in the future.

Cincinnati (/ˌsɪnsɪˈnæti/ SIN-sih-NAT-ee) is a major city in the U.S. state of Ohio and is the government seat of Hamilton County. Settled in 1788, the city is located at the northern side of the confluence of the Licking and Ohio rivers. The city drives the Cincinnati–Middletown–Wilmington combined statistical area, which had a population of 2,172,191 in the 2010 census making it Ohio's largest metropolitan area. With a population of 301,301, Cincinnati is the third-largest city in Ohio and 65th in the United States. Its metropolitan area is the fastest growing economic power in the Midwestern United States based on increase of economic output and it is the 28th-biggest metropolitan statistical area in the U.S. Cincinnati is also within a half day's drive of sixty percent of the United States populace.
In the nineteenth century, Cincinnati was an American boomtown in the heart of the country. Throughout much of the 19th century, it was listed among the top 10 U.S. cities by population, surpassed only by New Orleans and the older, established settlements of the United States eastern seaboard, as well as being the sixth-biggest city for a period spanning 1840 until 1860. As Cincinnati was the first city founded after the American Revolution, as well as the first major inland city in the country, it is regarded as the first purely "American" city.
Cincinnati developed with fewer immigrants and less influence from Europe than east coast cities in the same period. However, it received a significant number of German immigrants, who founded many of the city's cultural institutions. By the end of the 19th century, with the shift from steamboats to railroads drawing off freight shipping, trade patterns had altered and Cincinnati's growth slowed considerably. The city was surpassed in population by other inland cities, particularly Chicago, which developed based on strong commodity exploitation, economics, and the railroads, and St. Louis, which for decades after the Civil War served as the gateway to westward migration.
Cincinnati is home to three major sports teams: the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball; the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League; and FC Cincinnati, currently playing in the second division United Soccer League but moving to Major League Soccer (Division 1) in 2019. The city's largest institution of higher education, the University of Cincinnati, was founded in 1819 as a municipal college and is now ranked as one of the 50 largest in the United States. Cincinnati is home to historic architecture with many structures in the urban core having remained intact for 200 years. In the late 1800s, Cincinnati was commonly referred to as the "Paris of America", due mainly to such ambitious architectural projects as the Music Hall, Cincinnatian Hotel, and Shillito Department Store. Cincinnati is the birthplace of William Howard Taft, the 27th President of the United States.

This is where the Shropshire Union Canal meets the Manchester Ship Canal and the River Mersey, this transshipment dock allowed produce such as the Staffordshire Potteries output to be shipped along the Trent & Mersey Canal to this transhipment dock. Here goods could be shipped across the River Mersey for export around the world. This would have proven much cheaper and faster than road haulage with associated breakage. Now it is a fascinating museum that can occupy you for a whole day. Suffering from claustrophobia might make steering through the locks a problem!
