It’s normal that old technology becomes outdated at a certain point. You can still use it, it’s still working but a better alternative has presented itself.
First you resist, decline, negelect this new way of doing things. You tell yourself: I’m not gonna fix something that ain’t broke! I don’t need this! I’m not a slave to consumerism!
When you started with photography you had a great advantage over most of your friends: you had the equipment, the experience, even a dark-room of your own. Since the coming of digital photography and the possibility of sharing information on the web, all this turned into a disadvantage. Who wants to sit in a darkroom, inhaling all kinds of chemical gasses, when you can edit your photo’s on your computer?
So after getting to know Flickr and photoshop, and combining this with the amazing possibilities of a Nokia N73 I knew my analogue days were over.
Yesterday I went to a shop and bought myself a new DSLR (a Nikon D60). I can pick it up on Wednesday. Of course I’m excited and looking forward to using this great new technology. At the same time I’m a little sad. My old Nikkormat is still very dear to me. I grew up with it. I documented my life with it. It was once an important part of my life. So this is my tribute to a beautiful and important machine.

Those who grew up in this area remember a different creek entirely, one teeming with frogs, crayfish, and minnows – a place where many a child spent long summer days happily playing. It is our goal to bring back that stream, not for me, not just for the residents that live along it, but for everyone who reaps the benefits of the Chesapeake Bay. We are a group of volunteers working with the community, National Public Lands Day, the Ocean Conservancy, American Rivers, Trash Free Maryland, as well as other organizations to clean up Bread and Cheese Creek.
Please mark your calendars for our next cleanup on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Rain or Shine, as the day and time we clean up the section of Bread and Cheese Creek from the Berkshire Area to North Point Road. Registration will be at 2408 Plainfield Road, Dundalk, MD 21222. This event will be run in conjunction with the International Ocean Conservancy as part of their International Coastal Cleanup Event.
We run our cleanups as a family event with plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. We welcome every type of person of every ability level to contribute and assist with the cleanup. Though it is true we will need people to dig out shopping carts and haul trash to the dumpsters, we need people to run water, food, tools, and trash bags (both empty and full) to individuals in the creek. People to sort recyclables from the debris removed. People will be needed to help at registration, setup food and snacks as well as many other less strenuous activities. We are also authorized to sign-off on Community Service and Service Learning Hours for students. The more people we have, the easier the work will be for everyone. We will provide lunch and snacks as well as gloves. A limited number of tools are available for sign-out, but suggest bringing your own if you have them
Our cleanups are part of an ongoing effort clean the entire stream by 2014 in preparation for the War of 1812 Bicentennial Celebration. (Bread and Cheese Creek will be receiving two historic plaques on the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail) The creek played a rather significant part in the Battle of North Point which took place on September 12, 1814. Both the American and British Troops camped along its banks, the American troops using is as a rallying point. It is rumored that the young heroes Daniel Wells (19) and Henry McComas (18) used the stream channel to sneak up on British General Robert Ross killing him with their muskets before being killed in return fire. This important part of our history should not be left the eyesore it currently is.

Taken on some outdated Soviet Tasma 32.
That's right 32ASA, slower than Pan F.
The Soviet practice was to roll the film in a coil of precisely 36 exp with head & tail pre-cut. You would wind it into a cassette in a darkroom.
After 17 years coiled up it was somewhat springy, but there was no fog evident on the negatives.
A lot of the more distant Kansas suburbs were, of course, small towns in their own right, which were swallowed up by the metro sprawl. These would include Olathe, Shawnee, Merriam, etc. Some of them date to the 1870's and 1880's.
But many of the Kansas suburbs which hug the state line sprung up at roughly the same time, right after WWII. They were incorporated as cities in 1946, 1951, etc. These would includ Overland Park, Leawood, Prairie Village, Mission Hills, etc.
While some feature long ranch homes with maybe 1,500 sq feet, and others feature some pretty nice real estate, they seem to have some common architectural themes. They share a school district, too, the Shawnee-Mission School District.
Some of the shoping centers, while a bit dated, are kept up very nicely.

Looks Scary
Well its definitely old and outdated. In fact, you might even say there's no way this is in operation and that its a doctors office here in #losangeles but it is.
This is the office and exam room of my hernia surgeon. Don't let the looks fool you and we all know we shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
I'll admit I did judge the book and was concerned for my safety during the exam and wondering if I should seek another doctor. Coincidentally, this was the doctor scheduled to remove my one hernia before covid. I now have two hernias and not a spleen that's retaining blood which @lacuscmedical diagnosed me and stated I refused care. Good thing I did because my spleen is just fine.
I will have my first surgery next month and 3 months later the second hernia will be removed. I've mentioned my new primary care doctor, Dr. William King, and amazing staff. I have entirely new doctors and specialists. I'm no longer in clinic care and things are getting better.
Most of all, I'm living again after being convinced, treated like, and told I was going to die. The only reason I was going to die was because of all the lousy care I was receiving from @lacarehealth and @lacuscmedical backed my Medi-Cal.
So while this office may look outdated and scary, not changing my insurance, demanding new doctors and specialists, I'd be near death or dead. This is beyond outdated and scary.
Ridiculously outdated (but kind of amazing) Feminine Hygiene Product vending machine and my old work. The loos really stank.
Due to Warner Bros Animation ruined our Economy by complying to the super-size at McDonald's in the 2000s reviving 1992's Tom and Jerry The Movie and brainwashing people's smart minds and restoring some of the bad things they used to make in the early 1990s like pear-shaped wrecking balls and ice cream trucks with the bad old outdated misleading confusing red trapezoid children slow crossing warning blades that word IF-SAFE STOP THEN-GO which are extremely confusing to disabled people and killing off my golden toddler stuff like green chalkboards, electric mechanical wall bells, and Corbeil School buses and Crayola Kid's First Jumbo Washable Crayons and even forced schools to have the worst PA System Bogen Multicom 2000 and Warner Bros. Both old and new will be highly insulated with special sustainable materials such as vegetable white roofing and a facade that looks different from every angle. The complex will be equipped with full service air conditioning and individually dimmable spot lighting, that ensures the most efficient lighting situation for each use.
Optimal logistics is crucial: atelier PRO has succeeded in separating different visitor flows within one entrance hall. The different sports halls can be connected for large scale events via a wide corridor.

Along my walk during lunch, I spotted these two signs, that both appear to be a bit outdated. Full service at $1.08...NOT. The Medallion is a old motel that now serves as efficiency housing.
There were wires above & cars below, so I did a "pan" crop to keep the focus on the two signs. Feedback always appreciated.
Update: I did the cloning work as suggested by Katie. Thanks!!! I was being lazy and now realize I should have taken the time do the work! I really appreciated the feedback.
